quote:Indeed. Sorry about that. I've never heard of a F10 problem, though; does Windows use that key for something else these days? And if so, why? Okay, this is the moment you have all been waiting for, or maybe it isn't. At any rate, I finally found myself the time to wrap up SubTerra II. More rocks! More gems! More devilish puzzles! Meet the glue block, that sticks to you. The conjurer, that creates other things. The electric wire, used to open or close portals. The golem, that lays dirt everywhere. And the gravity switch, that turns the entire level (and screen) upside down. http://crystalshard.net/subdown.htm Thanks to Stewboy for a multitude of levels, and to everybody else who contributed or was so supportive of SubTerra I. Enjoy, and comments welcome. -------------------- Pieter Simoons, aka Radiant Official Crystal Shard and SubTerra webpage Posts: 798 | Registered: Monday, December 17 2001 08:00 |

Indeed, the 2001 pack was small enough that the 2002 pack was simply appended to it. The levelpak zip should contain all level packs up to now. If people really want more levels (apart from making them yourself :) ) there's always these, but those aren't guaranteed to be possible. By the way Stew Boy = Stuart Rynn. -------------------- Pieter Simoons, aka Radiant Official Crystal Shard and SubTerra webpage Posts: 798 | Registered: Monday, December 17 2001 08:00 |

Yep. I pause the game all the time to look at what's going on in other sections. Note that you can scroll around in pause mode, and if you press and hold F6, the screen's focus stays there. This may be helpful in some levels. -------------------- Pieter Simoons, aka Radiant Official Crystal Shard and SubTerra webpage Posts: 798 | Registered: Monday, December 17 2001 08:00 |

It's an easter egg, but it works only in SubTerra 1.0, not in 2.0 and later (specifically, I had rewritten the kernel from scratch, and I never bothered putting this routine back in). However, the game and its interpreter can be found on my website (crystalshard.net) under utilities. -------------------- Pieter Simoons, aka Radiant Official Crystal Shard and SubTerra webpage Posts: 798 | Registered: Monday, December 17 2001 08:00 |

SubTerra news! 2005-2006 Level pack First place: Caterina Castellani (Orange Bazooka) A long-time contender, Caterina usually focuses on linear levels, but this one is more complex than that. The puzzle requires clever manipulation of laser beams to perform several different tasks. Second place: Henri Kareinen (Round and Round) A difficult choice out of several very good puzzles by Henri, this one is very innovative with the repeated maneuvering of simple objects. Third place: Stuart Rynn (Separate Ways) Good two-character levels are rare, and this is one. Controlling two characters forces the player to think outside the box, and the cloner is a nice touch for a hazard. Honorary mentions *Joshua Taylor (Wonderland) *Darkmatt (Towers Of Eizan Berthot) *Teh Kwakstur (Firewall) -------------------- Pieter Simoons, aka Radiant Official Crystal Shard and SubTerra webpage Posts: 798 | Registered: Monday, December 17 2001 08:00 |

And for a surprising plot twist heading back towards the topic, quote:The second code you mean is DAVINCI (for tools) and DETRITUS (for bombs). The final code is STUPENDOUS (for invincibility). None of these allow you to record a high score (since you're obviously cheating, but it's fun for exploring). WENDIGO does. -------------------- Pieter Simoons, aka Radiant Official Crystal Shard and SubTerra webpage Posts: 798 | Registered: Monday, December 17 2001 08:00 |

It works in Wine, at any rate. I'm afraid I don't have a mac to test it on, even if SubTerra code would likely compile on one (since it uses SDL) -------------------- Pieter Simoons, aka Radiant Official Crystal Shard and SubTerra webpage Posts: 798 | Registered: Monday, December 17 2001 08:00 |

As Zeviz said. And, just because the game is freeware, doesn't mean you can rip any of the graphics. Sorry, I've been overflooded with spam at times. So posting my e-mail in a public forum is not something I'd care to repeat. But it's really easy to get a free webhost somewhere (geocities comes to mind), host a zipfile and pass on the link here. -------------------- Pieter Simoons, aka Radiant Official Crystal Shard and SubTerra webpage Posts: 798 | Registered: Monday, December 17 2001 08:00 |

I've added a link 'if that doesn't work, click here' - does that help? Yes, you can create a '#2' or a sequel to a level, but if you didn't create the first one, please ask the author first, out of courtesy. I believe there was a Munchkin Mine II planned. -------------------- Pieter Simoons, aka Radiant Official Crystal Shard and SubTerra webpage Posts: 798 | Registered: Monday, December 17 2001 08:00 |

If the new forum generates sufficient new interest, I will once more take an effort to completing SubTerra II. And that means asking around for levels, too, until there's at least a hundred of them. -------------------- Pieter Simoons, aka Radiant Official Crystal Shard and SubTerra webpage Posts: 798 | Registered: Monday, December 17 2001 08:00 |
