quote:Sounds a lot like Specter, although I only saw that run on early Macs, like my old and beloved LC II. That was the last computer I had that functioned correctly from the time I first turned it on until the day I gave up on it for a newer Mac. —Alorael, who for a while used an old IBM. He can't remember more specifically than that what it was, but just being able to use a word processor was an amazing thing. And then, of course, he discovered games, and here he is now. Void Master, better known as Brett Bixler, is just quiet. In fact, he posted today. —Alorael, who must admit that he does not like Brett's site as much as he likes Brett's scenarios. Not that this is a criticism of the site. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

Why would WM create an obvious second account and then deny it? If he really wanted one, he wouldn't make it so easy to recognize. —Alorael, who suspects someone else of wanting to besmirch WM's honor by creating a false fanboy. It's another conspiracy! They mention it a few more times than that, but it's typical Monty Python. The plot exists only to keep the gags rolling. —Alorael, who also has to nominate Airplane. Looks like he picked the wrong week to stop drinking skribbane! Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

You'd better have a good reason too. I'd say you should have a good reason to discuss your posterior in great detail as well, but that's less offensive to most people. —Alorael, who is close to trying to persuade Drakey that the use of ampersands, dollar signs, and whatever the @ character is called (at?). There is, so damage and defense would be no problem. Sensing just isn't covered by any code. It could be added, but Jeff is disinclined to do that. —Alorael, who doesn't think the trait would balance very well anyway. In scenarios with undead, it would drop difficulty a lot. In scenarios without undead, it probably wouldn't be worth the penalty or wasted trait. And spell point recovery generally isn't a problem outdoors, while indoors it doesn't regenerate, period. Using @$$ as your name isn't really all that funny, but I don't think it's breaking any rules. Bending, yes, but not breaking. —Alorael, who thinks tasteless is the best description of frequent use of the word ass. Yes, you may all call him a Puritan now if you want. Jeff did not port E3 to Linux. Someone else did. For free, as a favor to fellow Linux users, I believe. —Alorael, who doesn't think Jeff gets enough Linux customers for them to make any difference in the rough figures. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

28 has bizarre textures and light effects where there shouldn't be any, giving it a blurry appearance. The proportions are off as well. —Alorael, who likes the other Poser-made ones. The two Isauras images don't quite look right, although he can't put his finger on why. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

I assume you mean these to be character traits? Jeff won't program new ones. That's too much work with the engine. —Alorael, who has a few problems with the traits as well. Racist is not well balanced and a nightmare to code and use, depending on how exactly it works. The engine also doesn't give any good way to "sense" undead. I'll do my usual thing and say I'm coming but than vanish mysteriously along the way. Everyone knows what I'm getting, but if I actually say it several people will spontaneously combust with anger. —Alorael, who will just say that he's thirsty and leave it at that. Notes are not implemented in-game besides the journal, which can only record messages you have seen or conversations you have had. However, a pen and a nice pad of paper (or a good word processing program) is always handy. —Alorael, who would like to see the ability to reset and/or deactivate the automap. Some mazes just aren't as much fun when you can see where you've been. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

There are some areas where Spanish dominates, but far more people speak English than Spanish in the entire United States. Similarly, just because there are a few heavily Jewish areas does not mean that Jews are in any way a huge population in America. There are quite a few Muslims in America, and there are undoubtedly Muslim flagburners. I also know Jewish, Christian, and atheist flagburners. I don't know that many patriots, but I'm sure Muslims are as likely to support the US as anyone else. —Alorael, who finds the story of the refused investigation of Al-Qaeda links dubious. If the leaders of the investigation refused, he would have been forced to step down and probably investigated himself. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

I'd steer clear of 18. Real-world religious symbolism is not something you want in a fantasy game. Most people won't care, but some will be even more offended by a cross than by nudity. —Alorael, who doesn't like any of the three character pictures that much, although he doesn't hate them either. The other graphics are all good artistically, even 18. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

Has Saunders taken up lurking again? Everyone should be very, very careful. When Morgan reached 1000 Arctic and I both got quite a few posts out of it by helping him along. There were no double posts involved, but there were an awful lot of short, meaningless posts by the three of us. —Alorael, who wants to count his IB posts as well. Then he'll have somewhere around 30 more! Hooray! [ Thursday, September 25, 2003 11:38: Message edited by: Alorael ] Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

I know I was the first to 1000 posts by a decent margin. I think I caught up to the previous highest, either Morgan or Saunders, at 500-700. And of course at one point I was 335th in the post count order, although that didn't last long with my incessant posting. —Alorael, who fully expects to have an automated AI posting for him long before six years are up. Then you will know true fear of constant posting! Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

#2 is not even appealing as art. I'd rather not have it in a game even if it wouldn't offend anyone. —Alorael, who doesn't have any other complains, besides the obscene loading time on some of those images. Many of them are very good, especially considering that they're free. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

There's nothing wrong with transferring parties from one scenario to another, but by the end of one trilogy game your party is too powerful to be much fun in the beginning of the next game. —Alorael, who even thinks that such an item retrieval town could be made to mesh with the story. Have an important character return items to the party after they were loaned, or given for safekeeping. Or have the first town be a messy campsite where the party can just pick up basic supplies along with important items. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

Regular murders and petty theft by me. Well, I have stolen once in a while, sometimes items that probably could get me a grand larceny conviction. Other than that, I'm a depressingly lawful individual. —Alorael, who doesn't even have any real vandalism to his credit. Maybe if he ever ventured far enough from his house to reach others' property he could manage that. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

Avatars will be restored for specific board members only at the special low price of $5.99 per account for this week only! Get yours today, before the price skyrockets to its regular level of $9.99 per account. —Alorael, who actually thinks this could make a bit of money for Spiderweb. It would get a lot of anger and bitterness, too, but money soothes all things. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |
