i dont know whether this was discussed before but i wouldnt care even if ;) .

after reading the boa faq i have an idea!

you see - i think that user-made monsters, races, spells and the lot are possible without loosing some of the ingame stuff.

the catch is that we dont _replace_ the things that are already there but make completely new ones: we use the Custom User Slot.

lets say i want the summon jellybeans spell (lol) so i make through the CUS - all the previous spells are already there, although there is one more: summon jellybeans!

the same thing with the monsters and races - a few CUS' will satisfy the makers without loos of the original stuff.

disclamer: english is not my native lang. i might be a little incomprehensible. if you think i am babbling nonsense, let me know.

That's quite a good idea. Whether or not Jeff does it is another question. If you suggest it to him in an email, he might consider it. He sometimes reads and posts on this forum, but it's rather rare, so don't count on it.

We will definitely have user-made monsters, and those can even replace regular in-game monsters.

However, we will only be able to have custom spells as special abilities.

Jeff would probably be happier to receive the suggestion directly, not by link. Just copy what you wrote here and paste it into an email.

—Alorael, who is certain Jeff won't listen. If he rejected the suggestions before, he's even less likely to approve them now that he has started programming BoA.

He's done, actually. He's just porting the scenarios.
I hope he includes the bashing weapon graphics.

I'm with ya'll there! (I'm allowed to say "ya'll", in North Carolina, it's a real word, just try not to think of me as a hick, for I haven't the slightest accent of "southern" dialects) I miss bashing weapons... I always used to give my mages/priests them because it just seemed fitting. Now I had to give them blades or poles or bows, all of which I don't think of when I think of magic users. I believe that somewhere he (Jeff) hinted at including the bashing graphics, tho he didn't mean to. But DEFINATLY don't quote me on that.

I guess Jeff thought bashing weapons didnt have anything different to offer compared to swords and pole weapons. But if he does add in bashing graphics I have some ready for use in the lourve.

Speaking of the Louvre - we need Terrain Graphics! Go to the Louvre, read the tutorial - then make a set! We need

Artic
Desert
Jungle
Swamp
Rugged (everything is just too darn smooth in Avernum!)

Think of the glorious rewards as scenario developers use YOUR terrain sets!

Knows what? That we want bashing graphics? I already sent him an e-mail regarding it. He replied to the part about adjacent item dropping (no, it won't get in) but ignored the bashing graphics part. Tell us what he says.
You think of bashing weapons when you think of mages and priests? Most people think of staves.

I know, and I do too. But my mages/priests are never pure casters. They always have some decent fighting skill.

And give me some time (possibly lots) and I'll get you some quality terrains, Brett. I already have a need for snow, desert, and swamp you mentioned, along with some others.

What about a shipdeck terrain? Is someone going to be super-nice and make one for an artistically challenged, uh, me?

Yes I already said I would (that was included in the "others" part). My only problem right now is my lack of free time. I'm currently conjuring alternate methods of getting stuff done, so perhaps I'll be able to churn some stuff up in the coming *insert time period*. Check my website (in my sig.) for latest info, but it'll be a couple days at least.

Shameless website adverstisement. Glory.
