silver harloe's idea for A2 in Blades of Avernum

somewhere on silver harloe's annotated map page, he describes what he expected A2 to be like, the main difference was that you started with a new team, i dont know if silver harloe is still out there since his page appears to not have been updated in as long as i have known it was there, but i'd really like to see him make that scenario... go on you know you want to. Personally id buy BOA jus for the chance to play that one scenario...
just a thought,

scroll down a fair way into the page, until you find "fan fiction a - different sequel"

probably way to late for this but eh...
i figure it would be good to have varying strengths of ai depending on the monster you were facing,
empire soldiers for example would be highly trained, efficient killing machines, particularly if they have a dervish of a mage or someone to lead them and direct there attacks,
goblins on the other hand would only be mildly above giant lizards and thats debatatable
nephilim and sliths might not have a strong ai, warriors, shamans, priests, mages and cheifs however definitely would and would increase the ai strength of any other intelligent creature they were accompanied by,
lots of different ways you could do it...
had another thought regarding summoning, it could still be useful when combined with the choice of creature and the ability to choose where you dump it, you could create a wall of summons around the offending enemy and trap it for a while while still being able to damage it

at first i thought monsters being able to target your pc's specifically was a good idea, they'd be able to pick the one that was doing them the most harm rather than have to go after the one you stuck in front of them to soak up the damage...
then i realised that it completely does away with the point of summoning...

Make kills from your summons give you experience? in Blades of Avernum

personally i agree that summoning aint that great and that experience shouldnt be gained from summon's kills, but from actually summoning, so along with the suggestion of breaking up the spell classes differently, not into mage and priest but healer, offensive, summoner shielding/blessing/etc for example it could be that summoning has a % chance of success just like physical attacks have a % to hit and cause damage you could do this with offensive spells as well, think about it: when flinging an ice lance at someone they arnt going to sit there and take it square on the nose... "argh an ice lance *duck*"...plus even if they did you might just miss or even fail to complete the spell because you're more concerned with dodging the halberd being swung at your head, though taking the real nature of combat into account in the turn based structure could be nigh impossible...
anyway where was i
putting the experience on successfully casting the spell would make it very easy for people to level their summoner, find a town and go summon happy... simple answer make summoning a combat only spell (cant remeber whether it is or not) and make it so you can only enter combat when there are hostiles in sight
