Yay for avatars! Sadly, I suspect it isn't possible to enable them on this board, so the poll is probably irrelevant. I'm all for it though. -------------------- "And all should cry, Beware, Beware! My answer can be summed up with a clue movie quote. (No I am not going to start adding these to my posts again.) All the people answering Wadsworth: "Good idea. Brilliant. Wonderful. Terrific. Great. That'll do it." -------------------- Mrs. Peacock: "Everything all right?" Colonel Mustard: "Yep. Two Corpses. Everything's fine." The board used to have avatars. I swear, does TGM ever say anything productive? I still don't think it would be so awful if the avatar size was limited to either 100x100 pixels or a certain KB size like they to at OMGJ. It would be biased against 28.8k users, I know, but still... -------------------- We're all amazed but not amused By all the things that you said you'd do. On our ezboard we have a 60x60 limitation, and it works out absolutely fine. The jpg/gifs are at that size about 5-10 KB, so it should be absolutely okay. People with really slow connections can switch the graphics off anyway. [ Friday, September 12, 2003 11:38: Message edited by: Arancaytar ] -------------------- "And all should cry, Beware, Beware! I'm for avatars too, and when I ran a 28.8k connection the avatars were no problem (except for the hideous giant ones). -------------------- "At times discretion should be thrown aside, and with the foolish we should play the fool." - Menander ==== Drakefyre's Demesne - Vahnatai Did Do It desperance.net - We're Everywhere The Arena - God Will Sort The Dead ==== You can take my Mac when you pry my cold, dead fingers off the mouse! They definently don't. I don't see why we can't have avatars. Drakey, isn't it possible to make a little option in the profile like: Show Avatars? o Yes o No -------------------- Who was born in a house full of pain Who was trained not to spit in the fan Who was told what to do by the man Who was broken by trained personnel Who was fitted with collar and chain Who was given a pat on the back Who was breaking away from the pack Who was only a stranger at home Who was ground down in the end Who was found dead on the phone Who was dragged down by the stone Posts: 595 | Registered: Tuesday, March 12 2002 08:00 |

Yes, there is some way to turn avatars on. We had them here on this UBB before. But Linda has passed an edict banning avatars for all time, so most likely they won't return. —Alorael, who would like Kakashi to die for suggesting the return of his avatar. It was almost physically painful watching what it did to the dimensions of a topic. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

If they should ever return, there should definitely be a limit of 10 KB on it. And an automatic dimension set of 60*60 or something, maybe 100*100, squashing everything larger. That would fix it. Was that the only reason avatars were banned? -------------------- "And all should cry, Beware, Beware! His Flashing eyes, his Floating hair!" S. T. I was saying on *our* ezboard. It's a limitation the webmaster put in to avoid the avatar filling the whole page. Anything larger than 60*60 is shrunk to that dimensions.
