Oh, they'll find their way here, eventually. Those who are interested in Geneforge, at least. Posting topics concerning Avernum/Geneforge/Nethergate in General is not very appriciated. Which is, in a way, weird.

I will have to assume you listen to Jethro Tull. This makes you a person with a well developed sense of style. I like people with a sense of style. Congratulations.

Only Hollow-wood is already filled with Deus Ex-like movies, not to mention Clancy movies. So there is really no obvious point in making more.

Conan vs. Drizzt in General

Pah. Drizzt would run away crying in a whimpily way as soon as he would see Conan. Having said that, I admit I know Conan only by reputation. But anyone who can beat up that self-righteous, totally goody goody, laughably unrealistic, boringly godlike elf is a favourite of mine. Drizzt is a pain in the arse of the whole fantasy genre.

EDIT: If you are hardcore Drizzt fans, don't bother trying to convert me. I've read the books.

You came out of the closet?

EDIT: Losing your virginity at the age of 54 (or whatnot) is not something you celebrate. And definitely not something you tell people at SW.

It is not that hard to capture a null bug. All you have to do is to find one, really, and attack before it gets a chance to react. They tend to attack the front fighters, however, and I don't use them much.

The enemies I dislike the most are probably sliths (in Exile1). They are really though as nails...

Yup, and other problems still remain. The leading characters have no background (other than being cast into Exile, hurrah) and there is an massive amount of sidekicks (shallow ones, of the speak-to-them-and-begone type). In a movie, all of these would have to be focused on.

Exile 2 has an actual plot that even develops in unpredictable ways and keeps the interest high. The dramatic beginning (skip the nephilim fort, along with most other sub-quests), the dark waters, the new lands and the return. At this point everything would have been built up for a grande finale - of the type Helm's Deep - so Alorael is right, the story would have to be shortened. One crystal to be saved - splendid. Two crystals - possible but not very good. More - boring.

Come to think of it, the movie could start somewhere at the front. In that way, people would get a good idea of what the Empire is, and how impossible the fight is. Dilemma - the seeking and finding of a solution - the solution put into action - harmony restored and dilemma solved. Bingo! Chekhov smiles in his grave!

So, who will tip Hollywood? :P

OOC means "out of character". It's usually used to comment something in the IC. IC means "in character". It is the roleplay, basically.

Like this:

OOC: Wouldn't it be cool to have Urghnar Orc-killer faint in battle? Yeah!

IC: Urghnar grunted. The orcs were too many! He cried out for his comrades but they were kept quite busy by the onstorming orc-hoard. There was no help to be find! Suddenly he felt a searing pain in his shoulder. The pain was too much! He fell to the ground, unable to move his right arm. Urghanr could hear his fellows scream as the darkness overwhelmed him. A last thought flew through his mind - I knew I should have become a dentist - and then everything was gone.

OOC: Oh yeah! That was cool as hell!

E2 could work. It's got the right movement. E1 is too diffuse and the plot is too simple. E3 is too repetitive.

Don't forget consoles, men! Both Doom 3 and Half-life 2 are coming out on Xbox. You might think you're oh-so-much-cooler-computer-players, but I swear, consoles are making a comeback. They say Xbox can handle anything Doom 3 throws at it. Of course, no one believes this but still. :P

And speaking of FPS, we get Halo 2 fresh out of Bungie's oven. In your face, computo-dudes!

Oh? I didn't know it was out yet.

Not that it matters. I'll have to wait for the Xbox version anyway, and it will most probably be lots of crap.

Well, I was talking for myself, obviously. Lyrics add a human dimension to any music, though, and make it less sterile. I find the human voice to be the most important instrument. Even songs sang in a language I don't understand are usually better than a piece of music without words.

Bach is okay. His music is simple enough and easy to get a grasp of (kill me, you snobs). Plus, his harmonies are beautiful. On the overall, classical music is too hypocritical and wannabe sensitive. I get the feeling I don't understand what the composer wants to tell me. And no, I'm not one of those who think each one must find his own meaning in the music. That is like an insult to the composer.

Well, not an insult. But something like that.

I can't believe someone actually had to say that.

Then again, I can't believe we are discussing why people wear clothes, either. We are stupid.

As for why, blame Eve. And that funky reptile.

Clothes are stylish - that's reason enough to wear some. And think about all the (ehm) gentlemen magazines. Who would buy those if you'd get the same by looking out of the window? What if clothes simply are one big Hugh Hefner conspiracy? Wicked!
