Yeah...the plot remains very strong indeed. The thing that facinates me most is the myriads of different worlds and universes Williams conjure forth, each one more versatile than the former. It truly enables Williams to use his imagination to the utmost. Another thing that I like is how "real" the story feels. It could really be reality after some (how many?) years. And it´s also not so pompouse and stupid as some fantasy-novels (though I think it´s more scifi). You know, the "I´m the almighty hero who will face many obstacles but never give up and finally defeat the dark/black/simply evil lord who threathens to take over/destroy the world."
It´s more...human.

Anyone who likes Tad Williams´s Otherworld-serie? Yep...that is my question. Very much so, actually. So...well..I´ll be going then. But I am counting on that many people will have answered me when I`m back! So scribble as you have never scribbled before!
PS. Fans of Memory, Sorrow and Thorn don´t bother. I think it´s one of the suckiest (hmm..or should you say most sucky?) fantasy-novels I´ve ever read.

Yaahh!...at last an great topic! I simply have tell you all of my favourite writers!
There´s a couple of writers that I praise over all else. Tad Williams, Stephen King and Terry Pratchett. I simply love all theses (in and natural and healthy way of course!). Williams "Otherworld series" are probably the greatest sf-literacy in the world, and King´s story about Roland the gunslinger is not bad either. Terry Pratchett is...well, what can I say? Great? Greater? Greatest? Well, maybe not quite but he comes so close to perfection that it is impossible to make any difference, anyway. First of all I must say that I´m truly sorry for this! If somebody allergic to spam is reading this right now - stop it! Otherwise it could prove lethal, and I´m not planning on committing any murder! But otherwise, read on...

The thing is, i have probably found the most hilarious site on the web : http://www.bash.org!/ I cannot say any more, you will have to find out by yourselves. But take advice from me and read the text about Harry Potter, in which the word wand has been replaced by wang... (I take no responsibility for laughing-suicides). The text can be found in the top-50. IMAGE(Spiderweb Software Boards dont read this___it´s most certainly spam_files/biggrin.gif)

Well hello hello to everyone! I´m back (though I haven´t been gone - it just sounds cool to say so)and with me I carry a load of questions that need answering. Since I have understood that questions of this type are not very appriciated around here, I have decided to yell at myself in order to save you the trouble (and the satisfaction).

So here we go : what is this whole karma thing? (aaauughh...peabrain! how can anyone ask such an infintily stupid question??!!)
I would also like to now what this "rate a member"-thing is and how it effects oneself? (please..just kill me...anything but this idiot and his moroic questions...)

There you go! Now I´m just going to sit down and enjoy the rest of the insults that are hurled at me. Please be gentle. IMAGE(Karma_files/frown.gif)

Oh yes, and could someone also answer my questions please? (you can do both things if you feel that way - I´m a very liberal and freeminded person, you see.

P.s. Could someone rate me just for the fun of it? (go away, we hate you!)

The good thing with intelligens is that if you are intelligent enough (and preferably a good actor), you can actually pretend to be wise, great, symphatic and whatever, no matter if you really are all those things. This, I have noticed, is something that smart people often do in order to get an advantage. Thus intelligens is far better than wisdom. IMAGE(Intelligence_files/wink.gif)

Well, if no one acknowledges its existance then you can´t no if it´s there, either. So I don´t understand how you can ask a question such as this, since you don´t (literally) know what you´re talking about. Also, I bet that the elephant himself/herself know that he/she is there.

The "Ask Everyone Anything-topic" seems to be so popular (understandable) that I think it should get it´s one board. Has there been such a board here, in times gone? (I´m really new here).

Anyway, that´s my opinion. Yes and, oh, I know this forum was created so fans (that´s us right?) could be able to talk about SW:s games and not anything else. Still, I´ve found that most AEA-topics are about things very close to the SW games athmosphere, like magic, for instance.

Creating an new board such as this would also attract every lunatic in this whole forum *shudder* so that they would leave the other boards alone. Yesterday I saw several pictures of boylove in the "Exile-trilogy-board". Needless to say, quite off-topic.
If you (whoever you are) would create this topic then perhaps such umm...special individuals...would leave the serious boards alone. A win-win situation I would think.

That´s it folks. Got any opinions on this?

Well, yes, I admit that magic maybe has rules beyond my knowledge, but what I actually was talking about was the way magic behaves (right word?) if compared to technology. What I mean is, that when you lit a lamp (my favourite example), and turn the knob, then a chain of reactions happen. This chain of reactions will eventually lead to the goal : to make the room a little brighter. A wizard could of course produce the same result, but he would probably only flick his wrist or even only speak a word, which would lit the lamp. He doesn´t need to go through the complicated chain of reactions, he can just skip them and still make the room brighter. Magic is the way to make things happen without doing the way you should do in order to make them happen.
Have anyone got a clue of what I´m talking about? I lost myself a couple of sentences away.
Of course magic is very, VERY hard to understand since it´s...well magic. Everything that isn´t normal. I think. Maybe.

Coincidential magic? Flexible reality? Are we talking about, say, UFO:s? Do you mean, like, if a lot of people think they have seen UFO:s then UFO:s actually start existing because they belive so? IMAGE(Ask everyone anything (4)_files/rolleyes.gif)

I don´t get it. Why should any of these companies be "evil"? Do they torture animals? Do they steal candy from babies? What do you even mean by evil? After all, if it weren´t for Microsoft and IBM, none of us would probably be having this conversation right now. Can somebody explain? yeess...that´s pretty much it, but I can repeat the question for those who so wish (everyone else close your eyes). What is a zephyr? There, I said it. I really would appriciate some answers (one is more than enough, if correct). Or then maybe I should go get a dictonary instead? Näähh..it´s probably easier this way...

That´s not quite true. Technology is logical. When you turn the knob, the lamp is lit and so on. Sure it may seem magical but it still makes sense (if you understand how electricity works, that is). Drawing runes on the floor with goatblood and thus causing an demon to appear on the other hand, is not logical (did I really have to say that?). Because it lacks the logical component, magic can never really be compared to technology, no mather how advanched.

Iraqi aftermath in General

Yeeesss....that was an very long topic indeed... Actually I didn´t even bother to read through it but since the subject is so concerning I just have to tell you all my opinion (like someone would actually care).
I think the US did the right thing in liberating (liberation : has any word been so mistreated in the history of humanity?) Iraq, but for the wrong reasons (oil). Saddam was not a good ruler and the people of Iraq will probably be far better now that he is gone. I said probably, since everything wasn´t worse during Saddams regime. The females position was, for example, much better and Afganistan remains an frightening reminder of how a country can totally collapse when it´s leaders are "changed". Before the war Afganistan was an peaceful country ruled by the talebans who followed the laws. Today rapes and thefts take place every night and the people live in fear (and poverty, since almost no jobs remains.)

Now it´s all up to the US. If they can handle the situation and make Iraq better than it was befor the war, then maybe the rest of the world can forgive them. And here´s a tip to Bush if he would come by (unlikely, I admit that) : keep your hands of the oil. It belongs to the Iraq people and shuold be used to nothing but rebuilding Iraq.
Finally, I want to excuse my bad english.
