The ESC is the definition of eurotrash. And the main reason why Europe never can claim total moral superiority over America.

Thank God Finland won.

I return.

Pictures lie, as always. After that particular photo was taken, I have shortened my hair down to all but nothing. I'm also very lazy to shave. So I look like a cross between a muslim fundamentalist and Shrodinger.

The next one was taken in London, last year. That explains the haircut.

Agreed. We can, however, do more than just wish the best. Even if never enough.

Oh spare me. I wasn't questioning anyone's grief or feelings. I was saying that this catasthrope, too, would be forgotten in a couple of years, were it not for the killed tourists. It's not my fault. It has always been like that.

Second, I was talking about the curse of wealth. The curse of never being able to help enough. The curse of never being able to be a good person. You are obviously a truly empathic person, and have given great sums to charity. That's why I am somewhat confused that you are still here with us. Do you prize your computer above the lives of the starving? Perhaps you value your internet connection more than those dying in various diseases? The money you would get from selling it would quite literally save lives. Literally. Literally. Literally.

See, the curse of wealth? I should probably despise you, but then I'd have to despise myself too. And just about everyone else. It just isn't possible to live that way.

So, I donate my 50 euros and live on. Knowing that I could have donated up to 10,000 ? without even having to lower my quality of life. Maybe I calculate how many lives could have been saved by that sum. It's hard not to, you know? And every time I buy something costing more than 50 ?, I feel bad. But I don't hate myself. It just wouldn't work.

And eventually, I'll forget it.

EDIT: As far as it matters, I think people should write more provoking texts. When written by a skilled writer, they are awfully effective. I think they do a great deal of good, by making people feel bad.

Actually, you are drastically underestimating the number of tourists in southeast Asia. Over 2000 Swedes alone are still missing. Most will never be found. Fewer will be found alive.

What would Jesus do? Probably dress in rags, give all his money and all his property to charity and fly down to help rebuilding the place. So you can do something, if you really care enough. Most of us don't. Call me cynical, but that's just the way it is. Lots of tears and talking, and little else.

120,000 and counting.

They say it's the fourth worst natural disaster since 1970. Anyone care to tell me what the other three are? I remember one, the earthquake in Turkey. Wasn't there a flood in China, too?

The only reason people are upset is because western tourists are among the victims. Skip the hypocrisy, please.

Rest assured Bush will punish the sea for this crime against humanity. ****ing fishes will get to know the meaning of democracy and freedom.

You can, however, also chose prison, where you will be abused by tattooed men and masculine women. It's all up to your tastes.

RPG Recommendations in General

How much of creating your role/personality is up to the game, and how much is up to yourself? Your role can still never exceed the limits set up by the game. Exile's/Avernum's free skill system is one of the most allowing role-creating systems I've seen.

I think creating a personality very well can be up to the player, not the game. That way, you can give your characters as much personality as you want. I think Exile/Avernum are about as free as any RPG can be. You can choose almost any role and absolutely any personality. This doesn't make them any lesser than, say, Final fantasy or Deus Ex. It surely doesn't make them less RPG-like.

The Elder Scrolls: Morrowind (son of mentioned Daggerfall) is almost shockingly like Avernum. An extremely free skill system and a character with no personality whatsoever. Any skill combination and any personality is possible; any role is possible. You are only given a mission, the rest is up to you. It's the future of RPG.

Morality question in General

Moral of the story: don't walk around carrying guns. It's dangerous and you don't have to make the "to shoot or not to shoot" decision all the time.

One more thing. Why on earth would you shoot yourself? If you don't want to see it, just close your eyes! Or run away! Or start singing very loud, so you won't hear the screams of pain coming from the burning wreck. Admire the night sky. Go pick some mushrooms from the nearby glade. You don't have to put a bullet throught your head.

It would be a rather good crime mystery, though. A burning car, with a corpse inside. Another body lying on the road, shot to death. All this in some barren, deserted place. Fascinating!

Sorry for screwing up your identity. Feel free to call yourself Russian, I don't mind at all. :P

THE WORST MAN EVER: Round 1 in General
Lifecrafter
Member # 3310

How's this going to sort out the worst man ever? You're going to let them at each other one-on-one? Mortal Combat?

Just a suggestion. Wouldn't it make more sense to let their deeds and accomplishments decide the outcome? I thought that was what all this was about.

Otherwise just throw in Spiderman. He'll kick the ass of everyone because he can shoot webs! Therefore, he is undoubtedly the worst man ever.

You know, you could actually make this competition interesting from a historical view. Or then you could make it Mortal Combat. I cry already.

Once upon a midnight dreary, while I porn surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of hot xxx galore'.

While I clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour.

"'Tis not possible!", I muttered, "give me back my free hardcore!" ....quoth the server, 404.

That's why you should play Exile. Avernum is for the mob.

I don't disagree with you. I agree with you so completely, that it's unlikely such unison has ever existed in the history of men. That's what I've been saying all the time!

Well, Kreshweed, "Assassination" in Exile/Avernum never really meant, like, assassination. It was always more like Critical Strike or something. Assassination implies a measure of stealth, in my mind, whereas Exile and Avernum had Assassination as a skill for frontline fighters using halberds.
You are right, of course. I realized the same thing back home, when I was reading about the adventures of Mikael el-Hakim. Exile assassination never really was assassination at all. So you do have a point about the picture being misleading.

Now I just have to figure out why my mind always wanders of on its own.

Look, the drawings are clichés. A quick look at the women's physique and clothing should remove all doubt. But they are clichés and proud of it! That's why I like them!

I can't believe anyone would start yapping about assassination not picturing the right kind of assassination. Doh, have you ever heard of humour? :P
