Yes yes, but the Anamas would still prevail. Sure, they would probably all get killed and so, but in heaven they would earn their reward and be made lords over everything and so on. Such are the rewards of those who die for their fate. EDIT: And on Judgement Day, their god would step down and kick the ass of demons, dragons and horses alike. So there. Everyone knows that watermelons have only two purposes. 1. Inject vodka. Wait a couple of days. Enjoy. 2. Inject gasoline. Set it on fire. Bash it with baseboll bat. Posts: 756 | Registered: Monday, August 4 2003 07:00 |

I hope for a Czech - Portugal final. At least it wouldn't get boring (Hurrah! C. Ronaldo is the best!). Sweden hasn't got a chance to reach the finals. They simply don't play good enough. Denmark, on the other hand has the potential, but seeing as they have to play against Czech next, no. I wouldn't call Beckham phenomenal but he still is much better than jealous tounges tend to claim. -------------------- ahhahaha i rule u droool Posts: 756 | Registered: Monday, August 4 2003 07:00 |

He (she?) has a point, though. BoA doesn't really continue Jeff's version of Avernum, which pretty much ended in the third game. All new scenarios (as well as the four made by Jeff, I think) have no real connection to the original Avernum. This should be quite easy to understand. The old "alternative dimensions thing". I must agree that it kind of leaves a bad taste to those who enjoyed the storyline of the Avernum trilogy. A somewhat satisfying ending shouldn't be followed by a sequel, in which practically anything can happen. It's just not right. Sarua hit the spot there. Fighting the Empire in one scenario, helping it in the other (the same applies to Vahnatai etc). It's Avernum without being Avernum and that's what bothers me. It's hard to explain, really. Seen from a gamer's view (and a bunch of others), BoA is a great idea. For those who really loved Avernum, it's a thing that should never have existed. I'm not speaking out of facts, mind you. For me, Exile/Avernum was almost a religious experience. Posts: 756 | Registered: Monday, August 4 2003 07:00 |

An adventure game! Create a guy named "The Weird Guy" and have him wake up in a locked room. Then have him collect pieces of information from all sorts of sources. Who is he, what has happened, what the heck is going on in general? Make the surrounding world suitably weird, but keep it real. Add a major plot (or several), but keep it secret for as long as possible. I can't help but love these games. One more is never too much. Posts: 756 | Registered: Monday, August 4 2003 07:00 |

Good ideas, all of them. It's just that everytime I hear a suggestion I imagine how it would work in the Avernum and Geneforge engines. Most of the time, not very well at all. I liked the first idea most. Lovecraft actually can be turned into a good RPG. Narnia, on the other hand, and dinosaurs... I don't know. The same goes for superheroes. Pullman is a questionmark, but it could work. It would have to be much less combat-oriented than the Avernum/Geneforge games, however. Posts: 756 | Registered: Monday, August 4 2003 07:00 |

From South America, you say? A board can never have enough of those. Also, your grammar seems very good. Which is even better! EDIT: There's one thing I wonder. There aren't that much mountains up north, you should be able to find it quite easily. I don't know the exact coordinates, though. The dragon lord is already dead. I also enjoyed the 'parallel story' of the School very much. On a sidenote, the only spells you can raise to level two in VoDT are Fireball, Light, Heal and Cure, no? It was a little frustrating to always be 'rewarded' with spells you already knew. -------------------- Mow down the sexy people. Posts: 756 | Registered: Monday, August 4 2003 07:00 |

Pfft. I'd say the chances are quite big for soldiers dying "very angry, very upset, or otherwise emotionally engaged". Ever heard of haunted battlefields? They're the frickin' playgrounds for all sorts of transparent lifeforms! Ha. I win. EDIT: Touche! 1-0 to me! In your face! Booyah! Go me! Go me! The Anama would win. In God they trust. Or alternatively the undead. You can't overestimate the fear of the enemy, when they encounter someone using his teeth as a weapon. Also, when all the others have slaughtered each other, everyone becomes undead. It's the perfect non-violent strategy! They're like Gandhi, though a lot paler! -------------------- Mow down the sexy people. Posts: 756 | Registered: Monday, August 4 2003 07:00 |

Then what would the characteristic traits for a RPG be? Assuming a role, improving/modifying/leveling up your character and...? Also, has anyone here played Gateway, a textbased scifi adventure with graphics. Truly one of the best games ever made. I have never encountered a more intense atmosphere in a game. You should really try it out. I believe it's freeware, though I don't know where you could find it. Posts: 756 | Registered: Monday, August 4 2003 07:00 |

quote:Um, I'm quite sure he wants to do games with intellectual value. And from what I've seen, he has succeeded quite well. Sure, they are no brain-blowers but who needs those, anyway? Games should first and foremost be games. If I specifically want an intellectual experience, I go read a good book or something. Since I don't own BoE, I don't know what uber-intelligent plots you guys have created. Nontheless, I'm quite fine with Jeff's current 8-years-old policy. EDIT: Also, you can hardly blame him for trying to make money. Even if it means the standard of the games isn't as high as you would hope. It makes sense to me. I think the Swedish translation for "umsturz" would be "omstörtning". "Om" means about "around, all around". "Störta" is "to fall". Therefore "omstörtning" would mean not exactly revolution, but rather just things collapsing and changing nature, in a great scale. Which, in a way, describes revolution better than the word "revolution" itself. I'm a Finnish Swede. This often confuses foreigners as a better term would be Swedish Finn. Anyway, I live in Finland, am a Finn, and speak Swedish as mother tonge. My family has belonged to the Finnish Swedes (a minority, 5-6%) for as long as I can know. This would suggest I ultimately descend from people from Sweden, real Swedes who conquered Finland during the crusades. The other posibility is that I descend from ordinary Finns who changed their names and language in hope of earning a better social position. Here's a map of the areas inhabited by Finnish Swedes. I really do love to talk about myself, don't I? *sigh* Posts: 756 | Registered: Monday, August 4 2003 07:00 |

The Aztec-Conquistador idea is not new. The last time it was discussed, most people gunshot it because it would not only resemble Nethergate, it would basically be Nethergate. Stughalf's fomorian idea is somewhat good, but doesn't really solve that particular problem. Posts: 756 | Registered: Monday, August 4 2003 07:00 |
