New Zealand was the pioneer, accepting women’s right to vote in 1893, followed by Australia in 1902, while Finland was the European forerunner in 1906. Finland’s thoroughgoing parliamentary reforms gave all adult men and women not only universal and equal suffrage, but also the full right to stand for elective office. This was unprecedented in the whole world.

Choke on that, people who talk too much anyway.

We have a car-free day here in Finland too (much because other countries have and we're dedicated flow-goers). No one really cares. Except maybe people without cars who can feel good and superior for a day. Still, no demonstrations or reclaiming of the streets, I'm afraid.

I swear, not a single dictionary on the net knows the word 'self-aggrandizing'. Or 'aggrandizing'. Or even 'aggrandize'. I just have to assume it's something rather negative.

His supposedly neurotic fiancee aside, if you don't know him, who are you to say what he does or does not belong to? A gang doesn't have to run around breaking stuff, I suppose, even if it would score them some credibility.

Ptrooo! Stop there for a minute! I don't get it anymore.

DS says he belongs to a good gang who helps people?

Djur insults him. By calling him fat (presumably, this 'fat' thing means something entirely else). And telling him no woman would want to marry him.

What am I missing here?

1. I have no idea.

2. Not media-sexy enough?

3. Well, I'm all for the Paralympics. Why not. Seen as a concept it is a little weird, isn't it? The Olympics are about the best of humanity competing against each other. Having separate competitions for disabled people kind of marks them as 'lesser people' who not belong to the great majority.
Perhaps it would be better if the disabled would compete in the same series as other people, and be equal to them in the real sense of the word? There are still many things they could take part in.

On the other hand, men and women don't compete together either, since this really would be devastating for the women. Why wouldn't the same go for the disabled?

Quite frankly, the only reason to drink alcohol is to become drunk. Personally I don't even like the taste of alcohol, and I can't understand people who drink wine and such just because they like the taste. Lemonade, milk and water taste better all the way.

So I drink to become drunk. Which is what people shouldn't do. Good thing I'm all anti-social, which means I rarely do it twice in a month.

Drinking is bad for you.

Danger of teen binge drinking

By Deborah Condon

People who begin binge drinking in their early teens are highly likely to suffer serious health consequences by the age of 24, the results of a new study indicate.

A team of researchers found that people who begin binge drinking at the age of 13 and continue throughout their teen years, are nearly four times more likely to be overweight or obese by the age of 24, compared to those who never or rarely drink heavily during adolescence.

Early binge drinkers are also over three times more likely to have high blood pressure by the age of 24.
-------

Binge drinking was defined as having five or more drinks on one occasion.

The study followed the progress of 800 children through to adulthood. The participants were interviewed annually starting when they were 13 years old, until they were 16. They were then interviewed again at ages 18, 21 and 24. They were asked about alcohol, drug and tobacco use.

At the age of 24, they were asked about health-related behaviours, such as regular exercise. They were also asked if they had developed any of 18 conditions in the past year, including asthma, diabetes and heart disease. Their blood pressure was also checked.

The researchers found that there were four distinct groups of teen binge drinkers:

-Chronic binge drinkers- they started binge drinking at age 13 and continued the practise between three and five times a month until the age of 18.

-Escalators - they began drinking around the age of 15 and their bingeing increased sharply and continuously until they were binge drinking nearly 10 times a month by the age of 18.

-Late on-setters - they started drinking after the age of 16 and averaged two bingeing episodes a month by the age of 18.

-Non-binge drinkers - they never or rarely engaged in binge drinking between the ages of 13 and 18.
----------

"Being overweight or having high blood pressure can be linked to future problems such as heart disease, diabetes and cancer. What we are seeing are the first warning signs of more serious health problems", said the researchers from the University of Washington.

The study also found that late on-setters were 50% more likely to have been ill in the past year, compared to those who did not drink heavily as teens. They were also 50% more likely to drive drunk or allow themselves to be passengers in a car in which they knew the driver was drunk.

Escalators meanwhile, who reported the highest overall level of binge drinking by the age of 18, were also more likely to engage in unsafe driving situations and to engage in serious anti-social behaviour, including crime.

"Young adults who either did not binge drink or rarely did so during adolescence are the most likely to be healthy and engage in safe health-related behaviours", the researchers said.

Details of this study are published in the Journal of Studies on Alcohol.

So stop drinking, you chronics! OR DIE!

Oh, this reminded me of 'It's all fun and games until someone loses an eye'

When I first started playing Exile, I was a kid with poor english skills. So I took it literally. Oh, the years I spent pondering uppon this enigma!

Was there a monster that plucked out your eyes?

Where could this monster be found?

Was the eye-removing permanent? Could healing not affect it? (the tip seemed to mention that it was quite a severe thing)

How did it affect you? Did you loose half of your sight, depending on which eye the monster poked out (left/right)?

Might this affect mages spellcasting (you can't bomb what you can't see)? Or did you just get general penalties?

Battle tactics: kill'em before they touch you! But what if they plucked out your eyes from a distance?

2. Yes, hockey is big in Finland.

3. Keep your foul mouths off the Finnish language! Now I can never go skiing again without thinking on porn stars. And that, friends, is a weird combination.

Anyway, better go to bed really early. About 8.00 PM, I would think. Like I did as a wee lad. After Pikku Kakkonen. Oh the nostalgia.

Canada.

But then again, Finland was never meant to beat Sweden. Or the USA. Or Czech. I suppose it's possible. I certainly hope so. Damn, I even intend to stay up all night just to see Finland get beaten.

EDIT: Nice prediction, TGM.

I can't side with anyone but the Awakened. And I literally mean I can't. If I try, gameplay gets really though and even unpleasant. It's a struggle to keep playing. Sooner or later I have to give up.

I think Jeff overdid the goodness of the Awakened. Their flaws are really minimal. His attempts to make them seem less attractive are really pathetic. Oh, so they killed a servant mind? That's so evil! I better side with a bunch of violent madmen instead!

The FAQ of Geneforge 2 is sweet.

NAME TO HIT TO AVOID

Fyora (0) (0)
Roamer (+10) (0)
Drayk (+90) (0)
Drakon (+65) (0)
Cryoa (+20) (0)
Cryodrayk (+100) (0)
Ur-Drakon (+65) (0)
---
Thahd (+5) (0)
Clawbug (+10) (0)
Battle Alpha (+25) (+10)
Rotghroth (+60) (0)
Thahd Shade (0) (+20)
Plated Bug (-10) (0) Worse chance to hit than Fyora
Battle Beta (+25) (+10)
Rotdhizon (+60) (0)
---
Artila (+10) (0)
Vlish (+25) (+10)
Glahk (+40) (0)
Gazer (+70) (+20)
Searing Artila(0) (+10)
Terror Vlish (0) (+10)
Ur-Glahk (+40) (0)
Eyebeast (Auto) (+20)
As can be seen, a Searing Artila hits even worse than a normal Artila. For better percentage, try Cryoas, and especially Vlish. You'll also save a good deal of skill points.

EDIT: The base percentage (0) is that of the Fyora.

Well, the problem was ordering over the net. Which indeed is scary and problematic, even for people with credit cards and open-minded parents.

Giving away Exile for free would probably kill the selling of Avernum. Otherwise, I don't see why Jeff couldn't do it.
