Thank you, Arctic. This thread was looking a little too wholesome for a landmark post count announcement.

Fortunately, Kelandon is not a postwhore. He only gets regular pirates who grumble "Arrrrr!" and squint without resorting to double-entendres.

- Mommy, do buttpirates touch me too? I am not a bad boy, I dont' want buttpirates. *Sobs*
- It's allright dear, you are a good boy.

Bah! Little kids need sanity less than we do.

So, if I wasn't referring to Kel, who was I talking about? I do remember someone talking to Drakey about the Sliths...

Thus endeth this post.

If you look later on in that thread (and in a couple of nearby ones), I did start debating with Drakey about the history of Avernum, with an emphasis on sliths. That discussion informed the background behind my scenario that's been in development basically ever since.

Yes. Bit of trivia: The word originally came from a misspelling in a Warcraft map editor. ;)

Never knew that trivia... but it's become one of the web words by now. pwnt, pwnage, pwning, I PWN YUO111. I believe it is pronounced "powned". Like owned, but with a p in front.

'Teh' and the practice of putting stuff after a string of exclamation points are registered Despisms.

Also, at least part of that is idiosyncratic to you, WM. For instance, you're the only person I've ever see use 'noobelf'. :P

The worst part is that I've actually heard someone say pwned aloud. The second worst part is that my initial reaction did not include clocking said person squarely. Alas. ¬_¬

I've thankfully never heard it aloud. However, it generally has more force than "owned", in some cases, it's more of a shortenening of "power owned".

Like many Despisms, 'teh' may be traced back to JeffK. Like many JeffKisms, 'teh' may be traced back to stupid people.

—Alorael, who is particularly fond of the eccentric past participle pwnt.

And so? Did it sound like 'powned' or did the person in question possess some weird tongue-twisting pwning powers?
