You weird Southern Hemisphereans and your backward seasons. I swear. EDIT: I am assuming that this is three months because this is your summer vacation. Week and a half?! How much do you get for Summer vacation? Which country is "here"? Thurl, how many days do you get for winter vacation? In here (Venezuela) they get roughly three weeks for "Winter" vacation, about two and half months for Summer. In the universities, it depends, since each one seems to have its own rate. Some are yearly (imagine going to the University on a yearly basis and having finals!) some are regular run of the mill "semesters" and then there is one, the best around here for engineering, which uses bimesters, which from what I hear are really tough since everything is crammed. They get about a couple of weeks in-between bimesters and about two months for Summer. Usually they begin the academic year in October (schools and universities.) -------------------- quote:Random Jack Vance Quote Manual Generator Apparatus (Cugel's Saga) Posts: 604 | Registered: Sunday, June 20 2004 07:00 |

Like Thuryl, I live in Australia. My uni's semester dates for the year just finished were: Semester 1: 1st March to 6th June. Semester 2: 26th July to 31st October. These dates don't include the exam period. When the semester is finished we get a week to prepare for exams, then the exams are held over the next week or two. Each semester also has a 2 week break in the middle of the semester. My semester 1 subjects didn't have exams (social science degree) - the grades were based 80% on essays and 20% on tutorials. In comparison, my son (who is studying math & computing) had exams for all his subjects. So my break started 3 weeks earlier than his. -------------------- We meet and part now over all the world; we, the lost company, take hands together in the night, forget the night in our brief happiness, silently. -- Judith Wright My website Posts: 512 | Registered: Wednesday, February 12 2003 08:00 |

Our school years are divided up into 2 semesters and 4 terms. Between each term we have 2 weeks. An exception to this is at the end of year when we have 6 (?) weeks off. I back to school around the end of January/early febuary. (I'll have to check to be exact) -------------------- "He's mine, go get your own human plaything!" You can, however, also chose prison, where you will be abused by tattooed men and masculine women. It's all up to your tastes. I'm a flower of young manhood? Over "here" is the United States. Because of the *stupid* No Child Left Behind act, standardized testing is the focus of our school. So, every Friday, we don't have school but the teachers have some inservice thing. So that may be a reason for our short break. We have about two s off for summer, until the next year starts. I know, it sucks, but what can I do, right? -------------------- Wham Bam Shizam Posts: 247 | Registered: Monday, September 6 2004 07:00 |

Here in NZ I'm getting a good two months of holiday from secondary school. It is a bit wierd that it's summer AND Christmas, with all the snow decorations and Santa suits when all you want to do is spend the day at the beach. -------------------- I'm tired of the strain and the pain ___ ___ ___ I feel the same, I feel nothing Nothing is important to me ___ ___ ___ ___ __ And nobody nowhere understands anything About me and all my dreams lost at sea ___ __ But we’re not the same, we’re different tonight We’ll make things right, we’ll feel it all tonight _ The indescribable moments of your life tonight The impossible is possible tonight ___ ____ ___ Believe in me as I believe in you, tonight Go All Blacks xtraMSN Rugby _ MuggleNet Posts: 1112 | Registered: Friday, July 19 2002 07:00 |

Our summer vacation is usually ca. June 1 to August 25. We still get 180 days of school in though, as little vacation as we have. I'm not complaining. EDIT: Oh, yeah, congrats, Waffle dude. You exceeded my expectations. What can I say? EDIT2: YAY! My karma's back up to 2. No telling how long it'll stay that way.
