*sigh*
Seems like the elitistic minority of these boards has once again lowered their gazes at us newbies, with predictable results. Oh, please, wise ones, accept us in your midst and do not loath us for our ignorance!

Really, does it matter so much? I think this board is in need of some kind of revolution! Newbies, let us gather and rise to the barricades! Sadly, all mods seem to belong to the so-called nobility...

EDIT: And of course, I wouldn't be writing this is I were #4 or so.

Lo and behold, my very first poll! As useless as ever but still, according to myself, quite interesting due to the many nationalities we have dwelling here on these boards.

The question goes as such: Is English your mother tongue?

I hope for many answers as it will probably provide an interesting reading. And as for my confession, English is not my first language (as most of you probably have already noticed).

My sincere thanks to every voter.

Take it easy, nobody's accusing you of anything. I don't know that much about computers myself, and, it's really not a big deal.

And concerning driving lessons, I didn't think I would care that much about them. That was, before I really got behind the wheel. Nowadays, I consider driving very fun.

Zombie Attack RP 2 in General

IC: Eirik sat down and sighed. It seemed that the zombies couldn't get in. For the moment at least. He turned to his fellows.

"Has anyone ever payed any thought as to where these creatures come from? And even more importantly, why are they here? If your assumptions are right, then there would also be some necromancers here. Why?" Eirik uttered an unhappy laugh. "It's not like there's some great treasure in this town or anything! It's just a little stupid town in the middle of nowhere! And suddenly it's surrounded by zombies. What could anyone possibly hope to earn by attacking it?

The rest of the group stood quiet, pondering his words. Eirik continued.

"Are any of you native to this town? Since this town really doesn't have that much of a strategic position, the true cause to this attack must be something else. I'm just a wandering mercenary, so I don't know the heck of it, but someone from this town might know some of its history."

"I think we should really get to know what we will be up against tomorrow, before we storm the graveyard!"

OOC: And so do I. Time someone finally explains this (whoever so wants is fine with me). It's time to gather all these loose threads into a central plot. Go ahead.

It's actually quite strange that nobody really has copied anyone's signature yet. I mean, there really isn't anything you could do in such a situation. Well, except of course, sit down and cry.

Is there really some kind of Code of Honour here on the net? We must really be good and respectable persons! Hurrah for us!

Or perhaps we are all just desperately trying to be original and interesting...

IC: Eirik listened. Lynn was right. They were doomed. The damned fog was to thick and he couldn't even remember from where he had came. Fleeing was not an option.

"Listen up you fool! By the sounds of it, there are several tens of undead coming this way. They might already have surrounded us. I don't know.
What I do know is that we will never be able to fight them back, you and me. We will have to find some place were we can defend us properly." Lynn glanced at Eirik. "That is, if you wouldn't rather hit the road again. You might even get away with only one of your legs chewed off."

Eirik whimpered at the thought. "No, miss, I think your idea was the wiser one. How about that house over there?" He nodded at a seemingly abandoned house. "We could at least keep them from attacking our backs."

Lynn hesitated a moment and then nodded. "You are right. Let's get inside. NOW! And see if you can find something to barricade the door with."

They both run into the abandoned house. Outside the voices grew stronger and stronger. Suddenly, however, they stopped, as an blackhooded figure stepped out of the shadows. Silently he stood there for a time, watching the house, and then he nodded and walked back into the darkness. The screams filled the air once more.

The next moment the house was surrounded by tens of zombies.

OOC: Forgive my melodrama.

*looks out of window and sees happy little snowflakes falling down from the grey October sky*

The first snow is already here! Yay! Soon it will be time for cross-country skiing and bear hunting. And of course the traditional "can-you-hit-the-penquin-with-the-snowball" competiton!

Yay!

And in answer of your second question: There are so many Finns here because Finland is an technology-obsessed country. For example, about 90% of the population owns a mobile phone (don't really know if that's a lot when compared to other countries, but I would think so). And what more, some of the leading gaming magazines here discovered the SW games several years ago. They were quite amazed.

Why don't you believe in the girl? Just because she's an airhead doesn't mean she couldn't really, honestly love him. Of course, I don't know the situation as well as you do, but it just struck me as wierd. It's always hard to know what other people are feeling.

If you have lots in common and she's an airhead, then the situation should really solve itself. But I don't suggest you go meddling or something like that.

And that would be about all I have to say. Oh, and don't believe in what I just said. It seems I'm beginning to get quite cruel nowadays. It will work out somehow. It always does.

Omlette seemed to have some good points.

Book-burning? in General

No books - no libraries. That would, honestly and without even a trace of humour said, be a horrible loss.

Libraries. Lots of dusty old books on shelves. Big silent rooms. You can almost feel the very essence of knowledge floating around you. There is a sort of peace in the air. Libraries give you this impression of age and wisdom. They are places where you can just walk in and rest. Time itself stands still between the book-rows. Libraries are not affected by the hectic outside world. They are sanctuaries of calm.

Libraries. I love them. I truly do.

(Plus, the whole idea with libraries is great. People can, for free , just walk in and take a book for reading. Very rare in this paranoid world of ours.)

I will practice the art of lurking until I see if this RPG is living up to my notably high expections. If it does, you can count me in.

Bah, I'll probably join anyway. Boredom is boring.

Drakefyre's right. Everyone should be given some freedom.

And,oh,could this RPG please be about something a little different. You know, not that hero-dragon-save town-magic-may righteous prevail-boring stuff. MSW had some good ideas.

Probably since 1996 or something like that. The game was Exile III, the very first RPG I've ever played. My first emotion was confusion. Then came understanding quickly followed by pure joy.

And the rest is history...

Oh crap. I'm getting sentimental over a computer game. Poor me.

Very many, very strange dreams. Too strange to describe in a language I don't fully master, sadly.

It's quite frustrating. Though it's probably the best thing for your mental health, anyway.

That is because I come from Finland (though I speak Swedish as my mother tongue). In Swedish, the word human is always refered to as feminine.

Heh, this reminds me of a dream I once had.

I was in this kind of fairy forest, and there were some soldiers hunting me. Somehow I knew that they were going to torture and kill me if the caught me so I was naturally very scared.

I hid myself behind a big tree and prayed that they wouldn't find me. Still, when they came closer I realized it was just a dream. So, in order to wake up I started banging my head in the tree (in the dream). It actually worked (but not before quite a lot of banging).

OOC: Damn. I've been away too long it seems.

IC: Eirik looked up and breathed heavily. The undead were destroyed but there was more to come. Sure enough, another fight seemed to break out in the center of the town. Eirik cursed. He wasn't as young as he had thought.

Eirik was about to run up to the fight when he noticed that one of the slaughtered devas was wearing a nice-looking sapphire necklace. He bent down and picked it up. He really didn't like to take anything that had belonged to one of the undead, but then again, it sure looked valuable. Eirik decided that since he anyway wasn't giong to be paid for fighting today, he could just as well help himself. He stuffed the medallion in his pocket and run off.

Eirik followed the noice of the combat but suddenly a thought struck him. It was getting dark. Undead and dark, not a good combination. He nervously checked his surroundings. Perhaps a retreat would be wiser. Flee and fight some other day. Yes, that sounded wise.

Eirik turned and run into the growing darkness.

You all have some good points about euthanasia. This is even more educative than the etics lessons at school.

I support the free will and think that everyone who wants to be mercy-killed should be allowed to do so. If there's one thing each human should get to decide of herself, it's her life.

What I'm wondering is how many of you would do this service to someone in great pain? It's one thing to talk about the free will and the etichal choices, but finally it all comes down to that one thing. Would you hold the needle? I think that if you support euthanasia but still would refuse to really kill someone, you aren't really that convincing.

As I said before, I could never kill anyone. Not for the greater good, not in order to relieve someone from great pain. I just don't have what it takes to kill another person. I couldn't live with myself after that, but always wonder if I really did the right thing.

So how about you all who support euthanasia? Would/could you kill another person, whatever the reason? Would you hold the needle?
