Actually, a very big rock would give you world domination (kinetic impact). Not sure whether you'd want what was left, though.

Edit: silly ubb tags...

The sound of a dying glaahk in Geneforge Series

I have a cold, and whenever I breathe I sound like a glaahk dying.

I have always liked that sound effect. The drayk death sound is quite satisfying as well (assuming it's an enemy drayk that's dying, rather than one of my own).

I was talking to Tuldaric recently (as you do) and the thought went through my mind, "he reminds me of Emperor Tullegolar".

There's something not right, there. I need to get out more...

quote:
Tuldaric:
They slowly perfect it, giving you clarity as it grants you the ability to see the world for what it really is. As your physical strength and powers grow, so must your mind in order to keep up with these powers. It gives you ambition, and a winning mindset. What good are the powers they give you if you do not have the will to use them? After all, why should you ever be talked down to by beings lesser than yourself?

quote:
Tullegolar:
What you are seeing is the clarity that comes from my reshaping. On Sucia Island, we discovered devices that could change us, make us purer, stronger. And with that change came mental purity. The more canisters you use, the purer you feel, the less patience you have for the inferior. Such mental clarity is to be welcomed.

Yes it doesn't make much difference, especially since there is a level cap in this particular trilogy.

Personally I think if you are going to summon something, then it may as well be something good like a pack leader; it's worth spending a bit of time capturing it and there's no shortage of opportunities in Footracer province.

Excellent poll.

I think your term 'artificial sciences' is rather a good one, although I'm not sure how well it works for applied - as opposed to pure - mathematics.

I suppose physical/biological mathematics could just be reclassified under the application; but where does one put statistics, or mathematical finance? Do tell.

Edit: The point being that the latter branches are practical in the sense of existing for real world purposes, but also highly unnatural.

Thanks.

The cryodrayk had a little more health, but a lot less spell energy.

Quick question: which is it better to have, a level 35 cryoa or a level 35 cryodrayk?

Edit: GF2, if that matters.

I think if your hit chance is 90% and you can still miss 5 times in a row, then there is something wrong. Either Geneforge sometimes gets "stuck" when generating a random number, or there is some part of the engine that does not properly feed through to the percentages shown.

Is it possible that the to-hit % is misleading for a similar reason to the armor %?

I don't believe this thread has any purpose other than for Thuryl to show off his big... postcount and knowledge of science, but if it results in more stick figures, then that is welcome.

I thought for a moment you were describing Foundation as a philosophy textbook; then I realised you were talking about Atlas Shrugged.

I last responded to this topic in July. Surprising it's still going. Since then I have read a few things, including but not limited to:
  • Harlan Coben, Drop Shot
  • Peter F Hamilton, Mindstar Rising, A Quantum Murder & The Nano Flower
  • Conn Iggulden, Emperor: The Gods of War
  • Jonathan Kellerman, Twisted
  • Peter Robinson, Playing with Fire
  • David Weber, The Honor of the Queen

Plus, if you're planning to fight the golems, I recommend you equip some fire resistant, acid resistant, cold resistant and magic resistant rings and/or charms.

I can't believe mass madness is a necessity; I never cast it in g2/g3. Strong daze is adequate, surely. And I assume madness gems still exist?

That happened to me as a Guardian. As a Shaper, however, I barely broke a sweat wiping out the crypt.

Edit: forgot to say, having used the geneforge first on both occasions.

Berra is in Fort Emergence. You need to go into the mages' quarters in the south east corner of the fort.

If you're having trouble finding characters, the walkthroughs at gamefaqs.com might be worth a look: Avernum 3 guides.

Edit: simultaneous posting - with identical content! Oh well.

Turns out I've been pronouncing everyone's name wrong. I shall doubtless continue to do so.

In my moniker, the "." is silent.
