You should see the systems in Scotland! Not only do they number years from S1-S6 for high school and P1-P7 for primary school (don't ask), but some of the grading I've seen is really bad! In the Standard Grade Exams (which I've just finished) you get a grade from 1-7, 7 being a fail, but the odd thing is you have to take a seperate exam for sets of two grades (i.e. one exam will get you a 1 or a 2, the next will get you a 3 or a 4 and the third (for dunces only) gets you only a 5 or a 6). Thank God they're changing it to a more sensible A-C system, with one exam!

Two years ago, however, it was even worse! It was a 1-10 system where 10% of the year would get each grade. Of course everyone hated it, even the teachers, for they spent half the time complaining about it. It may seem sensible just looking at it but it's not. In the easier exams the cutoffs for a grade 10 were like 80%-81%, a blatant "1" or "A" in any other exam! They stillhaven't got rid of it, although it's 1-8 now...

Probably invisibility, but as long as it doesn't switch off without me telling it to. Could be embarrassing, say, if you were walking around town naked or something... (rather stupid example, yes, but it could happen....) Anyway, if an orangutan was flying, his arms would probably be all over the place.The ability to make a coherent conversation, or extract any information so desired, using just one word ("Oook").Ørangutan Master (and it has to have that little stroke over the O. Y'know, I totally agree with Ed and Morgan and anyone else who say they don't like big trends. I absolutely despise those kinds of things. I just can't help liking the books of Harry Potter though. Everything else (merchandise, films, other random crap like that...) I just hate. It's like some other things, such as Big Brother, on TV. Total, utter boringly stupid crap, but I still watch it.

And whoever it was who posted before me (began with an A), I think you should read His Dark Materials again now anyway just to see if it makes a difference (How old are you?).

Apparently you have to really feel it or something like that, or you need all the correct wand movements.

quote:
Mad-Eye Moody in book 4:
You could all point your wands at me and say those words and I wouldn't get so much as a nose-bleed
(Not exact, but pretty close)

I think that if anyone thinks that Harry Potter is the work of the devil, or if they start worshipping Satan or practicing the occult having just read it, they are STOOPID!! No exceptions.
(I can take people not liking it, but only if they've read it) (And you'd have to be pretty stupid to believe that the London Times is a real newspaper. Just the Times. Bet someone going to come along now and prove me wrong and then I'll be the stupid one.)

Though I have come across some pretty obsessive sites in the past, listing, for instance, every single word different in the American and British versions (kinda weird really, things like "trash can" and "bin" or "cine-camera" and "video camera" and even "shan't" and "won't". But it is true that an American might not understand half the stuff in the original version. Even talking to an American you don't understand half of what each other says sometimes)

Anyway, how come Dragyn Bob had a book with at least 160 more pages?

OOC: These things grow really fast don't they?
Leave it for a coupla hours and come back and it's already grown by 10 posts. (mostly by FB and augumented slith)

IC: Wise man is left cringing in his corner for a throughout the day, despite repeated apologies by the Drayk (who only really wanted him out of the corner to breathe fire at him), and offerings of bananas from the orangutan (orange furry thing?), who was frankly just scary, and Shaper's repeated conjurings made it no better for him. Many cheered when they realised that Wise man would be there all day, and some speculate on whether he run away at night, the preferable version for many, and some made bets on how long he would stay.

In answer to Blight's question, the orange furred thing, shaken by the way that the demon had almost taken him away ambles over to where the demon had exploded and searches through the rubble. Several other Spidwebbers rush to help him. After a few minutes they finish searching and leave the carnage unvictorious.
Blight: Maybe there's pie in his cave.

OOC:Edit:whoops, augumented slith posted before me... and it's a demon, eh, not a dragon?

A small, 4-foot-tall thing enters. He/she/it has limbs way too for him/her/it which drag along the ground as he/she/it walks. He/she/it is covered in orange fur. He/she/it climbs to the top of a convenient piece of furniture and goes to sleep.
Some might call it a monkey. They're the ones who get bashed in the face.

NO!! Don't even think about leaving me (or anyone else for that matter) on a desert island with any of these people!!! Partly because with just about any of these people the result would be too messy. Especially if two of them were put on the same island. Whoever thought of this topic (begins with an N...) should be shot.

Or at least beaten.

Preferably with a stick.

Maybe I could borrow Alorael's sniper rifle...?

I wonder what Exile would be like with ASCII graphics... Maybe someone could make custom graphics which make the party a giant 28*36 @... or a four by four D for dragons...

I've read all of the Discworld books (yes I'm kinda sad), some 28 or so and there's a new one out as well...

Of the Adams books, So Long and Thanks for all the Fish was hardly funny and Mostly Harmless was just plain weird! But the other HGttG books were good, and I haven't read the Dirk Gently books yet.

I have soooooooo many books to read this summer.

edit: Yes! Finally have a hundred posts!

And I've just been thinking, if anyone can remember back to the start of this topic when Khoth posted that strange pic of himself, he looks kinda like someone who left my school in Scotland a couple of years ago. Yes, that's completely irrelevent.

The Flawless Proof in General

Better version of what I think Lt Sullust was trying to say:

First, everyone knows that women take up time and money:
Women=Time*Money
And that Time is money:
Time=Money
Therefore,
Women=(Money)^2
And since money is the root of all evil,
Money=~(Evil)
therefore,
Women=(~(Evil))^2
simplifying to:
Women=Evil
Then,
Saunders=Women
so
Saunders=Evil
(I used a little squiggle to represent square root. It used to be a tick but that came up as a ?)

I'd just like to stress that I hold nothing personally against either women or Saunders. I got that proof from a friend.

Whilst trying to assassinate/suicide bombing/doing generally fatal things to Bush (i.e. killing him in some way). The perfect excuse would be to be an Al-qaeda or Iraqi terrorist but unfortunately I am neither of these.

I'd like my characters to die slow, painful deaths. Maybe a monster that gives poison AND slowness to them. Or Dark Wyrms from A3 (not the comparatively-wimpish E3 kind)

Bad chat-up lines in General

I just want to see how many the boards can come up with. Me and my friend did this during a chemistry lesson on a piece of paper, so I do have a couple, at least.
They have to be bad, by the way. No good chat-up lines.
Here goes...

–I lost my phone number, can I have yours?

–Can I buy you a drink, or do you just want the money?

–I really fancy you, so how about it?
(For anyone not Scottish, there's an advert there which has this guy who practices the perfect way of introducing himself to Sarah, goes to a nightclub and gets drunk, then goes over and says "Sarah, I really fancy ye, so how about it, eh?" It was funny at the time, anyway.)

I have one of them dot thingies on my left hand under my thumb. I call it "messing around in art class until you get stabbed by thomas", and I got when I was. You do understand, I hope, that I will have to kill Thomas, one day, and hope that he is none of the people on this board who are reading this (I don't think he is. He may be ten times geekier than anyone I know, but I don't think he comes on this).
