Alrighty, let's see if this works properly. I hate recording my own voice, so this clip is hardly anything to write home about. At least it's audible and clear enough to hear any accent I might possess. Here it is. just click "download" wherever you see it once you click the link. This way I don't have to trouble Kel with something as inane as this. EDIT: Ah, boo. Okay, I'll go bother Kel. Kelandon, thanks for volunteering to host this silliness. I wish technology would work correctly all the time. I got it to work on my end, so I'll leave the link up in case anyone else has the same luck with it. It took them all this time to search through the mod board for references to Thuryl. I have it on good authority that there was a plot to discover Thuryl's weakness so that it could be used against him during his drive toward world domination. Obviously the effort failed and he is well on his way. Congrats again. *this message sponsored by (deleted) and (deleted)* Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

Ah-hah. Now we can all give Thuryl yet another round of congratulations. And then start a few debates and let this thread overtake TM's by the time he comes back. -------------------- -ben4808 For those who love to spam: CSM Forums RIFQ Posts: 3360 | Registered: Friday, June 25 2004 07:00 |

YAY4THURYL (EDIT: Voice sample removed to conserve bandwidth. See post on page 14 for better sample.) I also recorded myself speaking in a high voice, but it didn't come out right and the microphone I used stopped working, so I can't redo it. Going back a little bit, I think there was someone banished for this election. Sure, it was only three months, but that's still a solid banishment. Remarkably appropriate for the company that produces Exile, no? Zeviz, you have just brought EVOL to a new level. You also have barely more accent than a Russian I know who came to America forty years ago or so. He, however, is unlikely to be a serious third-party candidate when the SEP and EVOL face off in two thousand mumble. Drakey doesn't sound like he's seven... ADoS, your voice reminds me of someone, but I can't remember who. I also didn't elect you king, and if I did I would replace you with Zeviz. —Alorael, who would say that a better way to recognize an American accent if you're American is to listen to the effect it has on American pronunciation in other languages. If native speakers of another language tend to have heavy accents when speaking English, you'll probably have an equally heavy accent while speaking that language, and you can really tell in comparison. My high school soccer coach walked from the Ukraine to the western coast of Europe during World War II and got on a boat to the US. quote:I'm an American born and bred. I've actually lived in the Chicago area for the entirety of my life. My parents were immigrants from India, however, and do possess marked Indian accents. Zeviz's accent is quite distinctive and interesting, and seems to remind me of the voice of a certain character in Starcraft: Brood War. :P Drakey's given me an idea. Perhaps I'll make a recording of my singing voice as well. Although I'd like to find a way to host my own clips, rather than abuse Kel's generosity. Before I finished this post, I made a recording of myself singing part of "Yesterday." I'll try to find a way to host it myself, though, as it is rather long. EDIT: I've managed to host it myself: My Singing Voice Make sure to check it out soon, as it's rather likely that the website I'm hosting the file at will be removed very soon. As am I, obviously. Congratulations once again. I almost wish some flaming newbie would deliberately and repeatedly violate the CoC so we could see you get your mod on... quote:That was my first thought too. =] I like it. quote:*sob* Please, no... Your accent and ADoS' are, predictably, typical of what I hear up here on a daily basis. You both sound exactly like I'd imagined. Stugie, the song link's not working for me. UBB will not let me go back to using "Dolphin", so I've been using the name "Dolphin." Since I don't like to punctuate my moniker I'm going to use "Zaiu" instead. I'm not going to use Dolphin anymore, but call me whichever you prefer :) Edit: here is an update (all settings on default), not much different but slightly. So Schrodinger is out. I guess this makes sense, since he is almost never around (no offense intended, Schrod). Still, it is an amicable passing of the torch. Vive le Thuryl! Posts: 2242 | Registered: Saturday, April 10 2004 07:00 |

I'm posting this here because it doesn't really deserve its own topic, but I figure that given my new position of responsibility I ought to keep people informed. With a timing that demonstrates Fate's characteristic sense of dramatic flair, my computer has shuffled off this mortal coil. I'm still going to be around on a regular basis, but I most likely won't have AIM, and I'll be online less frequently and for shorter spans of time (as I'm not going to be able to borrow other family members' computers and/or university computers indefinitely). The deceased is still under warranty, so hopefully everything will be sorted out within the next week or two. Sorry for the interruption. You can go back to what you were doing now. -------------------- My BoE Page Bandwagons are fun! Roots Hunted! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

Not at all what I expected, I must say, but that may be because my friend who looks like you has a relatively low voice. For the record, I heard no noteworthy accent in your recording, nor in Slp's (who must find it difficult to sound more bored than he sounds in his). Anyone know if there's any way to record my voice with the built-in mic on my iMac G3? -------------------- And though the musicians would die, the music would live on in the imaginations of all who heard it. -The Last Pendragon Polaris = joy. Dolphin's voice reminds me of voices recorded in some automatic systems. Drakey, your singing is fun, but I expected a booming voice of authority. :P ADoS sounds pretty much the way I expected he would sound. Slp, I could barely hear your recording even after turning up volume. Maybe your microphone volume needs to be adjusted. Dolphin sounds a bit like a girl in my class at school, but with a higher voice. Drakey is not what I thought he would be. I thought that his voice would be...deeper. Not saying that it is high or anything, but I just thought it would be different. -------------------- I'll put a Spring in your step. Wow, Dolphin sounds exactly like some Californian girl I met in, funnily enough, California. It's kind of wierd. If you get really bored a photo of her(the girl Im talking about) can be found in the photo thread (shes the one beside me). Posts: 776 | Registered: Friday, July 4 2003 07:00 |

I really don't think Dolphin's voice is that high. is there something wrong with my computer? She sounds normal. I can see Dolphin and Slp006's accent, but they aren't as thick. Lol, I thought Ados sounded fun, and I loved Drakey's voice; I even kinda liked the singing. Posts: 1035 | Registered: Friday, April 1 2005 08:00 |
