Right. There are famous accounts in psychological literature of people who distinctly remember doing things they couldn't possibly have done at the time of some famous event. For example, one man remembers that he was listening to a baseball game on the radio at the time Pearl Harbour was attacked, which couldn't really have happened as it wasn't baseball season.

First SW game was Exile: Escape from the Pit.

First game ever would have been Dark Castle, I think. Anyone else remember this classic platformer?

Why don't judges ever award $1 in damages any more? They used to do that all the time when the plaintiff was legally in the right but hadn't been harmed to any real extent.

Of course, legal costs would make that a very expensive $1 for both parties.

We do get particularly good newbies every once in a while. We generally deal with it by accusing them of being old members in disguise for a few months, until they're not so new any more.

Jeff lists as one of his major inspirations for Exile I the Might and Magic series, which have used a first-person view since forever. So Jeff deciding that a 3D game is a good idea isn't implausible; at the same time, one could suggest that if Jeff wanted to make a 3D game, he'd have done it by now.

From what I've gathered from a little Google-assisted research, standard chip-etching procedures require the chip to be treated with a series of chemicals before and after laser etching to add and strip away surface layers needed at various steps in the process.

http://www.svtc.org/ seems to be a rather good source of information on the environmental impact of the electronics industry, if you can wade through all the propaganda.

If you make your text into GIFs, it'll be annoying for people on slow connections and inaccessible to blind people who use text readers. Let the damn font display as Arial if people want it to display as Arial.

In my experience, there are no airheads, or at least not nearly as many as most people seem to think. You don't show every facet of your personality to everybody; why would you expect others to? Are you sure your opinions of her aren't biased by the fact that to you she's unwanted competition?

You say that you didn't talk to this guy often; he can't read your mind. Everything he knows about you and this other girl is based on the impressions he's gathered of the two of you; he can't know how much you have in common if you don't talk.

If he gets to know you, maybe he too will feel that the two of you are well-suited to each other. Unfortunately, it seems you've left your move a little late. My advice is to make yourself known to him, and quickly; once he's in a relationship, trying to break them up is only likely to make everyone's life more difficult.

Whether you end up getting the guy or not, at least by communicating you'll find out how he feels about you. Don't let your chance pass you by because he never knew you well enough to love you.

I prefer AOL's client to Adium, partly because I prefer having multiple windows open to the tabbed interface Adium makes you use. Also, Adium's sound effects grate on my nerves, but I miss IMs from people if I have sound off.

Haven't tried Fire yet; I might give it a look.

Books have a natural division between pages, which can be used for effect to create divisions between sections of a work; this is more difficult to do with a file on a computer, which one naturally just scrolls through. You can't easily stick a bookmark in a computer when you're halfway through reading something, either.

Some people deliberately use female pronouns to refer to a hypothetical person some or all of the time for the purposes of promoting gender equality. We'll know the sexes are truly equal when you're no longer surprised to see either "him" or "her" used in any context.

And Vaevictis, the disease you're talking about is called Duchenne muscular dystrophy here. I did work experience at an institute that researched it.
