Well, not all slimes are acidic. Emerald Slimes make you fall asleep, so I guess they're not all that good a choice. Try an Amber Slime and you'll get stuck, which isn't really such a great thing for reasons that should be obvious. And Mauve Slimes probably, I dunno, make you glow in the dark or something, which, while admittedly making for some rather neat party tricks, probably isn't too healthy either. And of course I'm talking entirely about riding them in the sense of mounting... er, um, I mean jumping on them... straddling them? ... oh, I give up. Oh, and the Alien Slime? Don't even get me started on that one... Nah, the Queen's role is basically symbolic; in most cases she can't really refuse to assent to the appointment of a prime minister or the passing of a law. Her only real remaining power is to dismiss the prime minister, dissolve the government and force an immediate election. The Governor-General has full power to act as the Queen's representative as long as the Queen is overseas anyway, and the Governor-General is appointed by the prime minister, so there's not much risk of the GG dismissing the PM. (It did happen once, though, when the Senate blocked supply, creating a deadlock between the houses of parliament which the PM refused to resolve by calling an election.) -------------------- I believe there are 15 747 724 136 275 002 577 105 653 961 181 555 468 044 717 914 527 116 709 366 231 425 076 185 631 031 296 protons in the universe, and the same number of electrons. -- Sir Arthur Eddington Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

While this has gone horribly, horribly off-topic and it's all my fault, I can't resist putting my 2 cents in again. I can't imagine an ostrich would still be faster than a horse when laden down with the weight of an adult human. EDIT: Speaking of horribly off-topic, I just realised this exact reply wouldn't look too out of place in the "ride" topic. 0_o [ Wednesday, November 19, 2003 01:10: Message edited by: John Winston Howard ] -------------------- I believe there are 15 747 724 136 275 002 577 105 653 961 181 555 468 044 717 914 527 116 709 366 231 425 076 185 631 031 296 protons in the universe, and the same number of electrons. -- Sir Arthur Eddington Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

The Coalition is the Liberal Party plus the National Party (which was formed a long time ago as a party supporting the interests of rural voters, but is becoming increasingly irrelevant). They're basically the right-wing force in Australian politics, and they've been in power for the better part of a decade. My namesake is the current Prime Minister and has been since the Coalition got into power; unlike in America, there's no limit on how many terms the head of government can serve. -------------------- I believe there are 15 747 724 136 275 002 577 105 653 961 181 555 468 044 717 914 527 116 709 366 231 425 076 185 631 031 296 protons in the universe, and the same number of electrons. -- Sir Arthur Eddington Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

If we can't vote for that option, why should you be able to? (Well, actually, we can - compulsory voting only means you have to turn up at the polling booth to get your name crossed off the list, not that you have to register a valid vote.) quote:We have that in Australia; it's called superannuation. There are two major problems with it, which is that it's taxed (although at a lower rate than ordinary income) and sometimes the government invests poorly, which means you generally don't end up better off than you would have if you'd invested it yourself.

It won't be a direct conversion: it can't be, since the monsters and items won't transfer easily, and the two engines handle walls differently. At best, large parts of BoE scenarios will have to be rewritten to convert them to BoA. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Since I'm still too young to vote and I'm quite aware that my voice won't make a difference anyway, I prefer contriving wacky political systems rather than supporting someone sane. My latest is parallelism: each person gets to be ruled by the political party he or she voted for. On a more serious note, while my views are broadly leftist, I don't honestly believe I know enough about the world to have the right to hold a political opinion.
