With all that said and done, I have no doubt that you'd still object rather strongly if I poisoned your food. Why should I be silent when others poison my air? -------------------- I believe there are 15 747 724 136 275 002 577 105 653 961 181 555 468 044 717 914 527 116 709 366 231 425 076 185 631 031 296 protons in the universe, and the same number of electrons. -- Sir Arthur Eddington Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

"Your time to go"? As far as the dangers of passive smoking go, non-smokers married to smokers have a life expectancy about 50 days shorter than non-smokers married to other non-smokers. Hardly an earth-shattering difference, but certainly a significant one. Passive smoking is probably not a major concern for people who don't have much direct contact with smokers (although remember, all that smoke does build up in the atmosphere), but it's certainly a concern for people working in the hospitality industries, who are significantly more likely to develop chronic lung problems than the general population. (Some have successfully sued their employers for not warning them of the dangers of passive smoking, or for allowing smoking in non-smoking areas.) It's for this reason that I support a ban on smoking in restaurants, bars and other such enclosed spaces.

Djur, do Joyce's books actually consist of anything other than the author talking to himself? I prefer books that try to say something in particular to me, the reader, even if it's something I can't agree with. At the very least, I'd like to read something which entertains me, which the passage you quoted doesn't. *shrug* De gustibus non disputandum est. Dgzthingy is Ford Prefect, among another fifty or so names he's used at various times. Oh, and normally I go by Thuryl, except when I don't. My current moniker arises from an unholy hybrid of watching the entire series of Full Metal Panic in one day and being inspired to make a bad despish pun on "Full Metal Jacket". There is no "gh" in straits. It's "straits" as in narrow, turbulent stretches of water between large landmasses, not "straights" as in things which are not bent. Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

Given that the name is taken from an Eminem lyric, they're not necessarily the same Ken Kaniff.

You have no gorm. You lack gorm. When they handed out gorm, you were at the back of the line. In a dictionary of antonyms, beside the word "gormful" would be your name and picture. Providing you with an adequate amount of gorm would require a televised national appeal sponsored by washed-up celebrities. What I am getting at here is that you, sir, are gormless. -------------------- My BoE Page Bandwagons are fun! Roots Hunted! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

He hadn't mentioned that at the time I posted. Anyway, the program you mention doesn't seem like the sort of thing one would run at startup. I suppose the obvious thing to do is ask everyone in the house if they've deliberately installed any such thing. If they haven't, find the program and try to get rid of it. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |
