Do you need to script a lot of the stuff in BoA to make the scenario work, coz, as mesioned (Darn!) before, im not a good scripter! Or: Is the scripting hard? -------------------- 33111-CRUSADER-4849 Posts: 662 | Registered: Friday, September 13 2002 07:00 |

Supposedly, it's possible to make a reasonable scenario without touching scripts. We'll see. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

Supposedly. I wouldn't want to play it though. :P -------------------- Encyclopaedia • Archives • Members • RSS [Topic / Forum] • Blog • Polaris • NaNoWriMo Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair. I have a love of woodwind instruments. Posts: 8752 | Registered: Wednesday, May 14 2003 07:00 |

Jeff said that there would be a lot of premade scripts for our usage and they should enable us to create reasonable scenarios with minimal scripting. He better include lots and lots of comments on scripting, though. -------------------- Thuryl: I mean, most of us don't go around consuming our own bodily fluids, no matter how delicious they are. ==== Alorael: War and violence would end if we all had each other's babies! ==== Drakefyre: Those are hideous mangos. There are plenty of comments. And if it's too hard, just write a BoE scenario and port it. -------------------- "At times discretion should be thrown aside, and with the foolish we should play the fool." - Menander ==== Drakefyre's Demesne - Happy Happy Joy Joy Encyclopedia Ermariana - Trapped in the Closet ==== You can take my Mac when you pry my cold, dead fingers off the mouse! You can actually port the BoE scenarios into Avernum?!!!?? I can't believe Jeff would do that when he wouldn't do some of the other things we asked him to do. -------------------- Thuryl: I mean, most of us don't go around consuming our own bodily fluids, no matter how delicious they are. ==== Alorael: War and violence would end if we all had each other's babies! ==== Drakefyre: Those are hideous mangos. I'm as surprised as you are, but Drakey's a betatester so I can only assume he knows what he's talking about. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

Jeff has said that we would be able to port from the beginning. He hasn't specified exactly how it will work yet, but that's ok. Side note: we didn't even really ask him to include this feature. He seemed sure of it since alpha-phase. -------------------- DEMON PLAY, DEMON OUT! Posts: 1582 | Registered: Wednesday, November 13 2002 08:00 |

It worked well enough for VoDT. I somehow don't think it'll work so well for, say, Doom Moon II. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

Oh, I guess it is to save time so he doesn't have to completely rewrite the BoE scenarios he already did. But they better have some good improvements in them. I assume the dialogue is preserved somehow. -------------------- Thuryl: I mean, most of us don't go around consuming our own bodily fluids, no matter how delicious they are. ==== Alorael: War and violence would end if we all had each other's babies! ==== Drakefyre: Those are hideous mangos. What's the point in improving the BoE scenarios that come with it for BoA. They aren't very good anyway and a few improvements won't fix that. Jeff is just better at writing the longer, more involved games. Besides, the point of BoA is to make and play new scenarios, not play three mediocre scenarios And by the way, this is my 100th post! VoDT and ASR are good scenarios. ZKR is not, and it will never be one. Nobody knows how the new scenario will turn out, but I hope that it's more along the lines of ASR than ZKR. Many people say the plot doesn't make sense and certain monsters are placed out of context there just for some tough battles. I never liked the dialogue for the BoE scenarios that Jeff made. It didn't seem like Jeff was very involved in writing them. Kind of ironic since he is the one who encourages small, very well written scenarios. My reasons for disli[k]ing the VoDT are 1) The name. 2)The dialogue. 3)Tiny Alien Beasts, and 4)The annoying school of magery in which you can never rest without being set upon by goblins and the monsters keep resetting after you kill them by going from one end of the school back up to the surface. EDIT: I am so sorry, I made a typo in the word disliking. Well, three of those things are better in BoA. You mean there won't be any more tiny alien beasts in the new one? I would like that very much. I really want Jeff to make some major improvements to the scenarios. Some more quests, spells, and side dungeons. -------------------- Thuryl: I mean, most of us don't go around consuming our own bodily fluids, no matter how delicious they are. ==== Alorael: War and violence would end if we all had each other's babies! ==== Drakefyre: Those are hideous mangos. Now they're big alien beasts! I hope we can still deal with them, though. Imagine Avernum 3 alien beasts in a low level beginner scenario. -------------------- Thuryl: I mean, most of us don't go around consuming our own bodily fluids, no matter how delicious they are. ==== Alorael: War and violence would end if we all had each other's babies! ==== Drakefyre: Those are hideous mangos.
