Going back to the topic of dinosaurs and whether the Levithan in the book of Job was one, I wasted some time trying to Google a decent reference. Lousy search engine can't read my mind yet and I had to rely on key words. This is one that gives why it isn't: Leviathan as a dinosaur Leviathan is used in some instances for a gigantic coiled serpent creature and in Psalms as a whale. Another one gives the Biblical references and their possible allegorical meanings: Instances where Leviathan is mentioned The point is that you have to go back to the original language and not always rely on translations. I got my MAc iBook G4 about a year and a half ago. I never expected Apple would go over to Intel chips or I might have waited. It was an upgrade from my old Windows based AST Pentium computer from 1993. I still use that for word processing since it's hooked up to the printer and how fast do you need your spell checker to go? Slarty posted a thread where he gives the experience differences for different numbers of creations/allies sucking it off. You get less experience, but the total amount for the whole party is higher than for an individual. If you plan on keeping your creations for a while then it pays to have them leech. See Strategy Central for help. [ Wednesday, August 23, 2006 20:52: Message edited by: Randomizer ] Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

The loss of spell points and essence also exists in the Avernum games where you cast a spell that can't work at that time. It's a bug where the subtraction occurs before checking on whether it will work because of circumstances. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

Both sides are scum. Ask everyone and you will get valid reasons why you should pick one side over another. The rebels have some good points about how the money grubbing rulers are using and abusing them to make a profit instead of granting them their freedom. Although like Geneforge the rebels don't really care who they kill in order to get their ends. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

There are two problems here. The first is that ancient languages didn't have as many words so they use the same one to mean different things. The other is that even when there is a detailed enough description so you can be sure what they are talking about after 2000 odd years the animal may not still be around to have a modern equivalent. There are several Biblical plants and animals that modern scientists can't locate with any certainty, Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

I did a thread on Wisdom crystals and there was a limit to what you could find in those caches but I was using mandrake root as the limit. Nature lore 3 gives 16, nature lore 12 gives 37, and you can get more with nature lore at 15. It's a waste of time but just check every merchant that you can get to by pylon. There are herb dealers in Fort Draco, West Cotra (Potionary), the Slith herb dealer waiting with the merchants between Almaria and Tower Colony, Tower Colony, that guy in the swamp southeast of Formello and the alchemist to the northwest of Formello, the Nephil camp near Fort Monastarty, and maybe Fort Dunvo. I saved all of my herb ingredients for the end except to make a few energy potions and do that Fort Remote quest and get a Magus vest. A B.A. in English or most liberal arts programs will qualify you for exciting work in the fast food industry making whatever they serve. Actually I had a friend with a B.S. in chemistry that wound up doing that because of a recession. He found that he couldn't get some jobs because he spoke English as his first language. Another friend got a job by pretending that he had only finished high school because the boss felt that college guys weren't competent for his company's work. For graduate school you need a relevant degree, good grades, and good test scores. For the real world it comes down to experience. What jobs you've held before and what you did in school that they can use (computer skills, lab experience, machine shop, etc). The less they have to train you, then the more willing they are to hire you. Unless you want to teach at less than college level where almost all schools require an education degree. My astronomy professor griped that he could teach college students, but required special permission to teach high school. Jonah in the original Hebrew has big fish as the actual words (I remember from all those Yom Kippur services where it's read during the afternoon service in its entirety). I don't have a Hebrew Bible out to look up the other references. King James version and other translations tend to take liberties in order to make the texts more readable and accessable to their specific audiences. You need to go back to the original language sometimes to be sure about the exact wording. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

My view of the Leviathan was that it was more of a super whale because of its size and references to it living in the deeps (ocean). However from the desciption in Job the name may have been given to more than one huge creature. Jonah was swallowed by a big fish and the type isn't specified. In the US, extracircular activies are becoming another example of resume padding. Everyone seems to do the same things so they have no real value. Unless you are using it for a scholarship it shoudn't matter. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

It's not that easy to get around them to the feeding spot without getting swarmed. I should have tried strong daze instead of what I did and it might have gone easier. Not doing the quest means that he doesn't allow you free access to his spellbook and other minor help. I think you get a better message and maybe an additional piece of loot. Otherwise you get access to all the books, spells, and normal treasure. Maybe some difference in experience. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

10. If you haven't read Erika's book the 5 brooches are in Motrax's cave, center of the Mertis spiral, Crypt of Drath (I think), Pyrog's cave, and the last involves a statue telling about the prisoner in Dharmon that stole it and then his partner flees to Mertis with it. 11. Demonslayer is supposed to help you with those demons. However most people don't want to use a two-handed weapon and you can easily get through the game without it. Consider it a trophy for completing all the quests to get the three parts and reforge it. I think I did use it against Grah-hoth because it speeds up eliminating those annoying Mung demons. I hate when they dumbfound my spellcasters. Divine warrior spellcasters can blast through the other demons with range being the problem in taking them out.
