Originally by Salmon: quote:Nah, that's just typical responsible newbie behavior. Nioca doesn't become Spiderweb moderator material until he becomes cynical, engages in backdoor agreements with an admin or mod, and actively plotting against someone/everyone. Even then, there's so many canidates out there that the odds of getting the position is ridiculously low. There's just one problem. Imban doesn't mod this forum. Dikiyoba always finds it sad when a perfectly good topic, even an old one, is ruined by people talking about the topic instead of discussing its contents. Posts: 4346 | Registered: Friday, December 23 2005 08:00 |

We probably don't have one. You will have to open up the gf4itemschars file to find what you are looking for (and perhaps make one, if you feel ambitious). Dikiyoba. Posts: 4346 | Registered: Friday, December 23 2005 08:00 |

Aran, is your bot supposed to be only for Spiderweb, or does it have a function on Polaris too? Also, you should start it on the fourteenth so it will be ready by the seventeenth. :P Finally, Dikiyoba would like to know: when do we get to look at the list that really matters? He won't. And since Dikiyoba has no update for you, Dikiyoba will have to leave you with this tidbit instead: Randomizer is short, skilled with magic, and we don't know what he looks like. He's actually a servile. Posts: 4346 | Registered: Friday, December 23 2005 08:00 |

All right, fine. You're right and I'm wrong. My initial post on the subject was supposed to illustrate oddity (for that one particular example) of lumping me, having seen many (not most, mind you) of TM's posts, with even newer arrivals, who haven't seen many at all. But I suppose we all look equally ignorant from the other side of that generation gap. Now Dikiyoba is off to draw crayon artwork on the walls, throw tantrums in the store if Dikiyoba doesn't get candy, and have frequent nap times. It's G1, so Learned Darian is actually a him. Anyway, if you've only given your opinions to the Awakened, you could probably give enough anti-servile opinions to the Obeyers, the Takers, and elsewhere to be able to join the Obeyers without needing Learned Darian. Dikiyoba believes that most of the Obeyer's goodies can be gotten from a high mechanics skill and some living tools anyway. Posts: 4346 | Registered: Friday, December 23 2005 08:00 |

I'm not positive, but I believe it was a balance issue. A fairly powerful creation army backed up by strong offensive spells and buffs would be too much. The warrior is already weak compared to the other classes as it is. Dikiyoba. Posts: 4346 | Registered: Friday, December 23 2005 08:00 |

What are you talking about? Lava is awesome (when it's not threatening to kill people or destroy property you care about, anyway). The way it flows, temperatures so high it forms a physical barrier, lava tubes and other formations after it cools, the word "pahoehoe"... what's not to like about those? :P Dikiyoba. Originally by Riibu: quote:Well, for many of us, that's probably accurate. There's a reason we don't have one concise definition of -bies and of "generations" and can easily put everyone where they belong: it's pretty much impossible, since everyone has different perceptions. Ephesos thinks he's an oldbie (or at least oldbish enough), but not everyone thinks so. I think I know who TM is, but Kelandon thinks I don't. As the definitions get more detailed, more people feel excluded. Dikiyoba. Posts: 4346 | Registered: Friday, December 23 2005 08:00 |

No, Dikiyoba meant how sometimes you cast a spell in Geneforge and lose the spell energy and essence from it but then a monster or poison damage interrupts the animation sequence and you never get the effects from the spell. If there was no animation, that wouldn't happen so often. [ Saturday, February 17, 2007 10:53: Message edited by: Dikiyoba ] Posts: 4346 | Registered: Friday, December 23 2005 08:00 |

Originally by Archmage Alex: quote:That would certainly reduce the number of times a spell only gets half-cast in Geneforge because of entering combat/taking damage. Go to the character editor on the main screen, load your game, go to advanced features, click on the SDF option, and enter the SDF you want to change in one number at a time, save your game (probably under a different name), open your game, and see if it worked. I didn't like this game much, but I didn't dislike it either. It would have been a good game if this was the first in the series. But it's not. It's the third. So 6.5. Dikiyoba. Posts: 4346 | Registered: Friday, December 23 2005 08:00 |

Well, you're probably going to end up killing Goettsch anyway, so you might as well get something out of it. And you don't exactly need extra endurance towards the end of the game. Dikiyoba. Posts: 4346 | Registered: Friday, December 23 2005 08:00 |

I'm bumping up my rating to a 9.0. It's simple (but not too simple) and original. It has the uber-augmented Sholai and a powerful human Geneforge. It's not perfect (clearing the four mine zones comes to mind) but having fire- and ice-breathing dinosaurs really speaks to my eight year old self. Dikiyoba will have to play G4 soon and decide which one is better. Posts: 4346 | Registered: Friday, December 23 2005 08:00 |
