Well, it makes sense that we never see densely populated areas. As the adventuring type, your character needs monsters, rogues, and other baddies to kill. Those are prevalent in the wilderness, not in and around cities. And densely populated areas don't have nearly as many quests, because there are couriers and guards and such to help keep order. Finally, doing dialogue for all the people would just be too difficult to do. So we're stuck in areas without a lot of people. Dikiyoba. Posts: 4346 | Registered: Friday, December 23 2005 08:00 |

Ah. Well, G1 has none. G2 has an abandoned thahd in The Crags (beginning of the game only), a friendly rat around Fort Muck, a huge roamer in the bandit's warren in the marsh, a servile caster in the Magus Complex (Awakened only), a vlish near a bridge in Rising lands somewhere, a battle alpha in Phariton's Hall, and a servile warrior in The Misfits (pro-servile but not allied with the Takers only). Dikiyoba thinks Dikiyoba has them all, though there may be one or two more in that game. Posts: 4346 | Registered: Friday, December 23 2005 08:00 |

Maybe it's just Dikiyoba, but Dikiyoba doesn't see the green in the agent's skin. It's abnormally pale skin for someone who doesn't wear a lot of armor and presumably travels around outside a lot, but it's not green. Posts: 4346 | Registered: Friday, December 23 2005 08:00 |

[Edit-Directed at Nioca] I was going to ask what the suggested level of the scenario you were in was, but now it doesn't seem to matter as much. Unless you were in Exodus, doing 2000-5000 damage should still take care of just about anything. Dikiyoba. The twisting scrolls are strands of DNA. For those of you who don't know, sections of DNA, called genes, determine traits like eye color and height. In the Geneforge world, genes also determine your skill with magic, shaping, etc. Replacing genes with different ones makes you or creations different. The Shapers use magic to change genes and so create new or better creations, but it's mostly trial and error. They don't know exactly why it works, they just know that it does. The rebellion has these instruments to see exactly what genes they are modifying, so they have an edge over the Shapers and can modify living organisms through canisters and geneforges and develop new breeds of creations with fewer attempts. Dikiyoba now wonders how long it would take for canister-addicts to start searching for a gene to prevent aging if they weren't involved in a war. After all, what's the point of all the power if you're just going to grow weaker over time and eventually die? Edit: Clarification. Originally by Emperor Tullegolar: quote:And who created the drakons, hmm? A human named Barzahl. Slipping creations and items off of Sucia Island was the beginning of the rebellion. And the fact that the rebellion found so many followers so quickly means that there was plenty of rebellious thought, there was just no way to act on it. quote:Where would they live, and for how long could they live there before they were discovered? Shaper civilization is expanding. They'd have to compete for living space in the most inhospitable places against other escaped creations, bandits, and humans who don't like Shapers, always afraid of being discovered and killed. Can you imagine how hard it would be to grow food, or how often you'd have to defend youself, or how difficult it would be to find a mate, or how many children wouldn't survive to adulthood? Not exactly an inviting proposition. Dikiyoba. Posts: 4346 | Registered: Friday, December 23 2005 08:00 |

I've only finished it once, so I haven't seen everything, but I think I've seen enough to rate it. I think I'll give it what I gave G1--a 9.0. It had a different and solid plot, a great inventory system, good combat, shock troopers, and a fairly dynamic world. That said, I can't rate it any higher. Burwood was totally uninteresting and the Trakovite viewpoint was a bit too obvious in the one ending (unleashing the Unbound) I've gotten so far. Dikiyoba. Originally by Emperor Tullegolar: quote:That is the G1 ending, but is that the ending that brought us to G4? I don't think so. Too many Obeyers were in with the Awakened in G2. I think most were killed along with most Awakened and Takers. It would have been interesting to keep them around, though. Instead of having to invent Kiki and the rest of her breed, the Shapers could just use Obeyer serviles. Dikiyoba. Posts: 4346 | Registered: Friday, December 23 2005 08:00 |

Lord Safey is referencing Murphy's Law (basically, if something can go wrong, it will) to explain why this won't be implemented in G5. Jeff likes to stick with what is easy to do and what he knows sells well. This suggestion would take far too much work for too little pay off. Dikiyoba.
