A cookie to everybody who guesses what these are, and the linking factor... (Checking the links is bad, bad, bad...) This is a celebratory topic for your post count, 1959. Buddy Holly died in -59, Che Guevara was part of a little revolt in -59, Explorer-6 was launched in said year, and Morrisey the vocalist for the Smiths was born then. As for the Wizard of Oz, all I could find was that in -59, Judy Garland was diagnosed with hepatitis and was told she could never sing again. How ironic that my celebratory topic gets no celebratory posts... :( Yup, you're right. Well done, and all that. [/exasperation] Edit: An explantation. I wanted to make a post-milestone topic at a number that meant something to me. So, it was either one in the 1950's, or one in the 1960's, because those decades rocked. The only thing that meant anything to me in the 60's that I could post about were The Beatles, whereas in '59, Morrissey was born, and Buddy Holly died, and the whole Cuban business happened. And, of course, I adore Morrissey, and Holly, and Cuba, so, yeah. Tada! [ Tuesday, March 13, 2007 07:02: Message edited by: SupaNik ] -------------------- And when you want to Live How do you start? Well, we didn't know it was a celebratory topic. Or, at least, I didn't know. Don't ask me what their excuse is. :P Congratulations, Nikki. Hope your computer gets well soon! Yeah, the topic title might be a tad misleading as well. I for one came here looking for some good ole fashioned teenage angst. You can imagine my disappointment. And since I failed to congratulate you before: Congratulations on posting way more per day than myself. And only forty more posts to the esteemed rank of guild master! I knew it had something to do with 1959 (your postcount), but the '39 release of Wizard of Oz threw me off. That, and I immediately thought Sputnik when I saw the satellite. Oh, right. Grumble. Hey, someone's got to do it! -------------------- Posts: 1509 | Registered: Tuesday, January 10 2006 08:00 |

It does beg the question of whether it would be prudent to be able to post a celebratory topic every time you posted. Or one could hold place in that scary thing called life. Posts: 1487 | Registered: Sunday, February 10 2002 08:00 |

Congrats and stuff Niki. I went rollerskating tonight. Has your hair grown back in yet? Jewels' contribution was almost as random as Nik's original "1959" themed pictures. -S- I think of the 80's when I think of Morrissey. To the stoopid noobs: Never, ever be unimpressed be an Alex original in my presence. Ever. Diki: I was planning on grunbling at myself, but I'd still need to make a topic to do it in... So I thought, "Why not be random and make them all look at Buddy Holly at the same time!" Synergy: Firstly, they weren't random!! The only one I didn't already know and have planned was the Judy Garland one. And thinking of Morrissey is a start. Pretty soon the world will listen [/shameless paraphrasing]. And Jewels, it's kinda weird that I used to spell my name "Niki". Then I realised it was just as androgynous as "Nikki" and quit. And rollerskating rocks. And yes. My hair is long again. I can't believe somebody remembered. There are pictures and EVERYTHING (expect them SOON (Maybe)). -------------------- And when you want to Live How do you start? Where do you go? I love rollerskating! It's the closest thing I can get to dancing. I miss the rink at my home town, though. It was way better organized the Skate America here. Three times the kids and 1/4th the flow interruptions. Much better games too. Like when they played the song 'Hokey-Pokey' we'd actually gather around a big oval and do the Hokey Pokey. ...and sitting duck, and the limbo, and the dice game... All they's got here is stupid kiddie races. :( I'm glad your hair's grown out again. You look much cooler with long hair. -------------------- "Even the worst Terror from Hell can be transformed to a testimony from Heaven!" - Rev. quote:Philistine.[/b][/QUOTE] Quoted for sheer brilliance. Noobs - Alex is a genius. Live with it. Jewels: I haven't been skating for ages... I really should find my skates out and go. Ice skating is just as much fun, but I don't have any blades for that. Also, I have no plans to cut my hair. I'm aiming to be a pretentious artist, and everybody knows they need long hair! -------------------- And when you want to Live How do you start? Where do you go?
