There are examples of decent people on both sides of the divide and people whose views can stry dangerously (for them) close to their enemies (the servile tender in gamma camp, Ozzys in the safehouse as examples),and like the right/left political divide the more extreme they get, the more they seem to behave like each other. Neither is better and neither is meant to be better. The shapers have attempted definitely genocide, the drakys been barred would have meant any existing ones would have be hunted down and reasorbed regardless of how they felt about it , and been most definitely sentient(at least the game would suggest this), most of them would have preferred to stay alive. The rebels in pretty much all games so far have had factions that have taken something to the extreme often to the detriment of everyone else around them. Those who have taken it to the extreme often ignore any sense of ethical morality to do so. This of course is a matter of opinion as whether that in itself in harmful, but from a utiltarian point of view, the actions of the extremists (at least in the story) have generally resulted in greater harm than benefit. The pro-shaper factions in return have also had people who have ruthlessly crushed any stray thought, let alone anything else that deviated from what was the status quo. They are just as terrifying as those whom they oppose and/or fear. Both extreme make things very black and white and therefore tolerate nothing but their own. Maybe I've got no idea how old people are who are writing on these boards, but this is starting to remind me of any ye old political argument with the left clambering in one corner and the right in the other. -------------------- Morbo is pleased but sticky...
