Farewell and good luck, Aran. Expect to find that Tyra has assimilated all of the ermarian network in your absence.

I don't know what specific encounter you're talking about, but flying around groups of wandering monsters is hardly the same as skipping the Keep of Tinraya (At least I think that's what Kaiba is talking about.)

NPC Script Question in Blades of Avernum Editor

I think it's hard coded, because technically you don't HAVE to have a basicnpc script at all. Or maybe not... Anyway it's worth a shot.

NPC Script Question in Blades of Avernum Editor

It actually seemed like a pretty cool idea to me. You could put it in a terrain script and make it so it runs ever turn (even from far away. Terrain scripts run in between combat turns as well, which could be useful.) That way each town you just put a terrain script down.

I don't see why it would slow things down. Well the terrain script idea might because it'd be run so often in combat, but checks could be made so that it only runs once per combat turn.

That's a pretty straightforward one-- just kill Pyrog. I don't remember him being terribly hard. Not chasm drake or grah-hoth or Hawthorne hard at least.

I believe you're talking about joined NPCs, in which case no, there is no way to get them to behave in any way other than basicnpc (custom death states are possible, but that's it)

I have both contacts and glasses. I usually am too lazy to take a few seconds to put in contacts every day, so I wear glasses mostly. I wear contacts when I'm going to play sports, or when I need to look particularly fly. :P

I'm pretty sure they died on their own and the snail just ate their corpses. I'm having a tough time imagining a type of snail that could catch and kill a fish, and if such a creature exists I wouldn't expect to see it in a pet store.

You can't really resell a fish tank. Or at least you can't and still hope to get close to the original price. Way too much hassle, just keep it. (How many gallon by the way?)

As for fish... Get some kind of cichlid. I always liked african cichlids, but they have a bad tendency of dieing on me (as do most little fish, it just particularly hurts when it's an expensive one.) Back at home I have an oscar, which are practically impossible to kill and they get huge. So yeah, go big or go home as they say.

Exile III time problems in The Exile Trilogy

I wasn't aware that the wandering wizard would be killed, but the obvious solution (if you know you won't have the slime quest completed by day 40) is to find him and purchase the location of the artifact before that time (you should be able to spare 3000 gold or whatever it is he charges.)

And I feel like this is as good a time as any to fume a bit about the Tower of Zkal. God that was an obnoxious artifact quest.

quote:
The relevant part of the wikipedia article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plate_armour While it looks heavy, a full plate armour set could be as light as only 20 kg (45 pounds) if well made of tempered steel. This is less than the weight of modern combat gear of an infantry soldier, and the weight is better distributed. The weight was so well spread over the body that a fit man could run, or jump into his saddle. Modern re-enactment activity has proven it is even possible to swim in armour. [citation needed] It is possible for a fit and trained man in armour to run after and catch an unarmoured archer.
The guy's on a frigging horse, so dexterity isn't a huge concern, but even if he is unhorsed the knight isn't some helpless statue. Without some sort of pole weapon to knock the knight from his horse or a crossbow or longbow to punch through his armor, the samurai has no chance. Sword vs plate isn't a great matchup.

You'll never lose a major quest because you take too long. As you take longer and longer on a plague the nearby towns will gradually decay, but you'll always be able to finish the plague. Watching the gradual deterioration is rather interesting, so you shouldn't feel like you need to be rushing.

Anaximander gives you new quests on several occasions. The New Formello murders occur fairly early, then comes the Orb of Thralni theft (around day 40 or whenever you finish the giants plague I believe) the Vahnatai leave Ghirka after the golems are destroyed, and finally the Tower of Magi is destroyed around day 180 if you take that long.

Getting player input is a humongous headache. Preferably there'd be a way to dump the player's input into a string, and then another call to compare two strings. Check_text_response_match() blows, and don't get me started on got_text_match (What a ridiculous call. Why the hell is check_text_response a void?)

It would also be nice if the broken calls were fixed, but the rest of the stuff I don't particularly care about. Passive/active abilities would be kind of cool, and I've often lamented that there are no custom item descriptions, but I see zero need for timers or some of those other things. Most of these other things can be worked around with varying degrees of elegance (The graphics complaints in particular can be solved simply by making custom graphics. Even if BoA went open source the solution here wouldn't change.) Also I don't know what you mean by town entrance issues (Although that BoA might do something goofy with this isn't hard to believe. Just haven't ran into it myself.)

I'm fairly sure you're right. But unfortunately this doesn't have a lot of use, because you can't give the items passive enchantments. I suppose you could give a sword high damage and the ability to cast lightning spray or something, or make a staff that casts spells and also you can beat people with, but in most cases you'd have regular enchanted gear that is better than un-enchanted active-abil gear. So wearing active-ability gear wouldn't make much sense in most cases.

MAC3472- Honors calculus (Which has a ****ty professor, but at least there aren't many of us listening to him.... I guess that's something..... Damn it.)

CHM2045/2045L Chem1 and the accompanying lab.

THE2000- Theater Appreciation. I switched into this when I realized how much writing was involved in my english class. (First sign that it was a joke-- walk into the auditorium and see half the football team there. Second sign-- 5 question quiz on Antigone with questions like "What's Tiresias's disability?" and "Who didn't commit suicide?")

PSY2012- General Psychology. Online 'hybrid' class, so I only go to lecture once a week.

EGN1002- Intro to Engineering. 1 credit course where we visit one department a week. This week it was Environmental (Meh) but some of the others should be interesting. Took it because I'm not sure what branch of engineering I'm interested in.

Yep. I believe the problem arises when you try to mix active with passive-- but I could be wrong. Haven't messed with it much.

Favorite Scenarios? in Blades of Exile
Lifecrafter
Member # 6193

Gah! I had been keeping a list of scenarios and ranking them as I went, but I left the list on my computer back at home. Here is my list in order of how much I recall enjoying them (BoE only, it's too hard to combine the two lists into 1.)

Falling Stars
Emulations
Roots
An Apology
Revenge
Tomorrow
Shadow of the Stranger
Nebulous Times Hence
Redemption
Brotherhood of the Hand
Bandits II
Of Good and Evil
The Forsaken

There are a lot of scenarios (Especially in the 7-8 range) that I haven't played, and a lot that I've started and lost interest in (Which probably means they wouldn't have been makign this list anyhow) but anyway these are my favorites. The first 4 are in a league of their own IMO, and the next 6 are also great but a definite step down from the first 4. The last three round out the list.
