I just discovered that podcasts are actually quite entertaining, and I wondered if it wouldn't be nice if we brought out a Spiderweb podcast every month, in which we summarize what happened over the last month with Spiderweb, it's games, the forums etc. What do you guys think? -------------------- Play and rate my scenarios: Where the rivers meet View my upcoming scenario: The Nephil Search: Escape. I do enjoy podcasts, and this could be interesting. Maybe have a different host each month? -------------------- "Dumbledore returns from the dead and declares it to be hammertime, Harry proceeds to break it down, Voldemort is unable to touch this." —Dintiradan Spiderweb Chat Room Avernum RP • Summaries • OoC • Roster Shadow Vale - My site, home of the Spiderweb Chat Database, BoA Scenario Database, & the A1 Quest List, among other things. There's not enough activity on the BoA and OBoE front to warrant a podcast. It'd be kinda interesting if there was a short podcast showcasing the artistic talents of members, but I can only think of several members where a podcast would be an appropriate medium. It's a neat idea, but I don't think the community is nearly big enough. -------------------- Everyone like flattery; and when it comes to Royalty, you should lay it on with a trowel. - Benjamin Disraeli Posts: 1509 | Registered: Tuesday, January 10 2006 08:00 |

The narrator point is probably the biggest problem of all. For as far as I have seen a lot of people are either busy or too weird to be trusted. What we can discuss, though, isn't that big a problem. At least, for the first few episodes, after that it may indeed get a bit more problematic... -------------------- Play and rate my scenarios: Where the rivers meet View my upcoming scenario: The Nephil Search: Escape. I'd download it... Just do it and post a link on the boards...we'll see how it works out. -------------------- "I don't want to achieve immortality through my work, I want to achieve it through not dying." Posts: 469 | Registered: Thursday, May 1 2003 07:00 |

Thuryl is the obvious choice for narrator. I mean hell, we could make a whole episode of him just saying "Bonus Army." -------------------- "Heart of Earth located in Europe, Ass of Earth located in USA." Frostbite: Get It While It's...... Hot? Posts: 900 | Registered: Monday, August 8 2005 07:00 |

We could have mutliple narrators. I mean, listening to just one person all the time and his opinions seems a bit boring to me. Maybe we should have it like IMG's podcast, and have two or three people talking to each other, who exchange opinions, take turns in telling the news, etc. That'd maybe work out best. Possible subject could be the following: - General news from SW - New stuff that came out in the last month (scenarios, walkthroughs, whatever) - BoA/BoE scenario reviews reviewed (maybe even let the scenario designer tell what he thinks of the reviews?) I actually do think this could be something, but we should only bring out a podcast when circumstances warrant it, and not just do one because we have to every month. -------------------- Play and rate my scenarios: Where the rivers meet View my upcoming scenario: The Nephil Search: Escape. It is far easier to do it yourself, and then announce it, than it would be to recruit consensus. -------------------- Synergy, et al - "I don't get it." Thralni - "a lot of people are ... too weird to be trusted" Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

I don't know much about podcasts, but I can only see this working if long distance collaboration was possible. Kel, Salmon, and Aran debating some obtuse spiderweb topic verbally might be interesting, but someone ranting on their own probably wouldn't be. -------------------- Plaudite, amici, comedia finita est. quote:Skype: Arancaytar. Except that for the next two weeks, my day will be composed of 10 hours studying statistics, 3 hours travel, 2 hours eating, 8 hours sleeping and at least 2 hours working on stats exercises. Add it up, subtract it from 24, divide it by 3 (Polaris and xkcd) and you get the amount of time I could dedicate to Spiderweb if I distributed it fairly. No, this is not a calculation error. It comes to negative 20 minutes. I grossly blew my budget on making this post. Buh-bye. It actually sounds like it could be a lot of fun. I like the idea of having a different person doing them, but I don't really see it working. Most of us either are too busy, don't own a microphone, or just don't feel like doing it. Thus, the options will be limited. I don't know, I think Thad should be the person to do it. Or at least to start it, and if you feel like being next you could record it and talk to him about it. Posts: 1035 | Registered: Friday, April 1 2005 08:00 |
