Totally agree about the statue comment. The characters in the geneforged games have way more poses, but as a whole the graphics don't look any better or more.... lively? They seem stiff, like you said. And usually pre-release hype goes in the last game's forum, so in this case Avernum 4. -------------------- "NOW PASS ME MY BOOTS. How are the two ideas at all similar? Cutscenes are hard to do just because they take a lot of work, not because the coding is hard. Half the work is just setting up timing and boring yourself to death moving NPCs and whatnot. Ultimately it's just telling a story, but it's a lot more work than a regular scenario and isn't even novel (Like movie scenarios were in BoE) Granted the Worst Tool idea isn't going to yield a great scenario or story, but that's not the point. The coding would be hard, but it would require being clever and bending the engine as far as it can go, not just repetitiveness. -------------------- "NOW PASS ME MY BOOTS. Well the short (And possibly most accurate) answer would be that Iffy just isn't well liked. My longer answer would be that when a more reputable members, like Aran for example, posts a question I can assume with some confidence that he's put some effort into finding the answer himself. Even if this isn't the case, I'd be more willing to waste a few minutes of my own time giving him information, even if it's just reading wikipedia: A. Because I like him, and B. He has answered my and other users questions in the past, and so I'll return the favor. That said, it seems to me that newer members relish in the Iffy slamming the most, something I alluded to in my first post. I guess he just makes a good punching bag for whatever reason. Even in BoE the best movie scenarios were dialog heavy with action and brief special effects mixed in. I can only think of one really awesome cutscene that was mostly action, and that was the grand finale of Tomorrow. Oh and text bubbles blow. Just thought I'd throw that out there in case anybody didn't already know. -------------------- "NOW PASS ME MY BOOTS. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT WITH A FACE." -Nikki Frostbite: Get It While It's...... It's true that his canning came after his banning, but the reasons for his banning and canning weren't the same. Canning is a warning that your behavior isn't acceptable and you could wind up with a ban if you don't get better. You don't need to be canned to be told you shouldn't keep posting cracks, you just get permabanned if you try it. -------------------- "NOW PASS ME MY BOOTS. I'm inclined to say that the problem is with your data script and is probably caused by not using the 'clear' function properly, or possibly because cave floors are imported for the grass floors (Are they? And as importantly, should this make a difference? Unless you redefine the grasses in your data script, they shouldn't be affected by your changing the floors that the corescendata imported when defining them.... I don't know what the hell I'm talking about so I doubt anybody else will.) -------------------- "NOW PASS ME MY BOOTS. You're completely missing the point, iffy, and it's way too late for me to explain. It'd be an awesome idea in theory-- but branching cutscenes are just..... yeah I wouldn't touch one with a ten foot pole. It requires far more patience than I have; Dilecia's flashbacks were enough long cutscenes for a career methinks. -------------------- "NOW PASS ME MY BOOTS. If you just want to beef up your party, the HLPM/Artifact Hall is the better option. If you need to pull your party out of a scenario or something like that, obviously the character editor is best. Between the 3 there really isn't much lacking. -------------------- "NOW PASS ME MY BOOTS. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT WITH A FACE." -Nikki Frostbite: Get It While It's...... Hot? No. If you want to overwrite a default sheet on windows the user has to remove the default and replace it with the new one. Edit: But if you're overwriting those floors so that auto-edging works (Which I think you are) you can still do it by just redefining all the grass/dry ground edges to the new sheet. Multi-row item sheets aren't accepted by BoA. Actually they're half accepted-- I believe inventory graphics can be out of the range of 0-9, but floor graphics out of that range cause a crash (Or maybe the other way around.) Technically you could make the whole first row inventory and the second row floor, and so make a sheet with a full 10 item pairs, but I don't know why you'd bother. -------------------- "NOW PASS ME MY BOOTS.
