So it's decided: that thread is useless. And besides, I doubt the poster read the entire thread. There's some contradiction going on there, in addition to being complete ****. quote:If you think someone's having a stroke and have no training in the matter, call 911 rather than using the method mentioned. Because if you're inexperienced enough to use the method, your diagnosis is probably wrong. Posts: 1115 | Registered: Sunday, May 15 2005 07:00 |

If you play Avernum 2 instead, you won't have this problem. The barriers go away in that version. -------------------- quote: Posts: 1115 | Registered: Sunday, May 15 2005 07:00 |

You also posted "BoE", not "BoA", which leads me to believe you've been observing the community for some time now, which is why I won't tell you that you've posted this in the wrong forum, and also leads me to believe that you simply placed an "E" in the place of an "A". And the Piercing Crystal can be given using the editor without actually typing in its number. Of course, it's not available in the unregistered version, which I'm assuming you're running. The point: REGISTER BoA! -------------------- quote: Posts: 1115 | Registered: Sunday, May 15 2005 07:00 |

Okay, I thought you guys should know, I just saw this: http://www.ironycentral.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_profile;u=00004627. He was listed in the directory of people who have popped in on the forums, but I checked as soon as I saw it and didn't see Mr. White as having actually checked any forums; rather, it would seem that all he did was hit this page: http://www.ironycentral.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi. -------------------- quote: Posts: 1115 | Registered: Sunday, May 15 2005 07:00 |

I believe bosses should only be placed when they advance the plot. If Jeff wants to stick a Goblin King in a game, fine. But make sure that he's in posession of someone's ring, or that he knows the secret location of the Bad Guy's Lair. -------------------- quote: Posts: 1115 | Registered: Sunday, May 15 2005 07:00 |

Okay, if you want to hide a town for part of the game and then show it at another point in time, you have to get in the Editor, open up the "Town Details" box, look on the right side, and find "Town is Hidden". Set that to one. Then, at the point in your scenario where you want the party to learn of the town's existence, put the call, "set_town_visibility(townx,1);", where townx is the town the party discovers. -------------------- quote: Posts: 1115 | Registered: Sunday, May 15 2005 07:00 |

Are you sure it's the complete script? It's possible that you're missing something essential, like "begintalkscript". Here's what the very beginning should look like: -------------------- quote: Posts: 1115 | Registered: Sunday, May 15 2005 07:00 |

And then there's also the BoA Script Reference, which I find much easier to use because it allows me to scroll and use the back button to get to a master list. quote:Just out of curiosity (okay, I might possibly have a malevolent motive), what are you good at writing? Poetry, short stories, entire novels? Or science fiction, or possibly horror? Just being able to "write well" isn't very descriptive. I am not good at anything, but am on the verge of being good at everything. I give the impression that, with a bit of work, I could excel at whatever I put my mind to. Sadly, it's a false impression. -------------------- I HAVE LOCATED MY CAPS LOCK KEY AND FEEL YOU SHOULD KNOW THAT! Posts: 1115 | Registered: Sunday, May 15 2005 07:00 |

What happened? From ADoS's account, I would say that this board used to have a mafya vibe. Why would you ever let something as beautiful as that end? You would be able to look down on newer members such as myself. -------------------- I HAVE LOCATED MY CAPS LOCK KEY AND FEEL YOU SHOULD KNOW THAT! Well, assuming you're in the public school system, the computers usually come from businesses who have had them for a few years and have replaced them with actual functioning ones. So they have to be wiped. Then they're carted off to the school, where they're loaded up with filters and spyware to make sure that students can't use them without an investment of at least four hours. And finally, they have to take years of abuse from students who like loading up the school computers with spyware, incompetent teachers who think they're fixing the computers, and idiot students who really have no idea what's going on. The media: They exist to sell their airtime. To do that, they have to find controversial stories so people like me can go and talk about them. The courts: Okay, you have two entties who you know are trying to lie to you. Why would you trust either? The evidence: A hundred counts of similar crimes are not enough to convict. Though they may make it highly likely that at least one of them isn't lying, it is also far from impossible that they are simply copying each other. This whole thread: It only increases the amount of jank about Michael Jackson. And it's useless. No one's mind is going to change, and Michael Jackson's personal life is not your concern anyway. Michael Jackson doesn't talk about you behind his back. Terry Schiavo and Friends: If someone is going to die and no one will or does care, let them die. But if someone would care that a person died and has the means to keep them alive, let them live. -------------------- I HAVE LOCATED MY CAPS LOCK KEY AND FEEL YOU SHOULD KNOW THAT! I have one older brother. He's fifteen, or sixteen, or something... Anyway, contact in my family is minimal, and we all keep to ourselves. Usually, interaction is centered on money or social events. You guys who "love" your family really don't know what you've missing. Oh, and I'm fourteen. -------------------- I HAVE LOCATED MY CAPS LOCK KEY AND FEEL YOU SHOULD KNOW THAT!
