*Scene: A room in the Aizoan field headquarters.* ???: It's time. ef: What? Who -- ???: I am an agent of your benefactor. It is time. ef: What benefactor? *There is no answer but the sound of silence. A map sits pinned to the door, with a big red X over one of the elevated areas, and a smaller red O over the town the various folks from the Inn are currently staying at. On the far north [and bottom] of the map is a simple, curt note. "Assemble who you trust. Make sure whoever you don't trust isn't going to leave Aizo alive. It's time, ef. Soon all will be revealed, and together we shall hold the world in our grip. --ilofekh" -------------------- desperance -- je me souviens arena -- et je me souviens de vous Posts: 2449 | Registered: Monday, October 15 2001 07:00 |

Lenin did the same thing, actually. So did every other Communist who got anywhere. Ironically enough, only in such countries is a communist revolution feasible. In all modern and developed societies where it WOULD work, the proletariat is always deluded into thinking a system where one can buy enough to feed ten thousand while ten thousand go hungry at night "works". -------------------- desperance -- je me souviens arena -- et je me souviens de vous Posts: 2449 | Registered: Monday, October 15 2001 07:00 |

I would put up with Bush if he were a truly idealistic capitalist. Sadly, there are no truly idealistic capitalists above the age of 21. After that point, they get the bright idea that the labor of the many should be for the sole purpose of the comfort of the few. They have no ideals of "economic expansion" or "free markets" or "laissez-faire" in their hearts; they have nothing but stone-cold avarice. Yeah, I'd put up with Bush if he were making tax cuts to benefit the nation as a whole. Sadly, the only persons to benefit from it are the idle rich. -------------------- desperance -- je me souviens arena -- et je me souviens de vous Posts: 2449 | Registered: Monday, October 15 2001 07:00 |

Racism is a funny thing because it's only visible in hindsight. As a matter of fact, the majority of racism comes not of particular effort but of a matter of course. "It's always been that way", and so on. That's what many people don't understand about the Nazi era and more pronounced racism in earlier days. It's not the loud, highly opinionated few, but the quiet, deeply prejudiced masses that define racism. -------------------- desperance -- je me souviens arena -- et je me souviens de vous Posts: 2449 | Registered: Monday, October 15 2001 07:00 |

Theresa was a wonderful person as far as Catholic hardliners go. Overall, she did wonderfully in her life's works -- although she could have done better by being less of a fundamentalist; and it's hardly suitable to look back at someone's life works and say "They could have done better" when they did as well as she did. She was a wonderful person, but a person nonetheless. People either don't recognize this or treat it like some kind of dirty secret if they do. It's not; she had faults like anyone else. As someone's been severely offended by this line of discussion, I'd suggest we change tracks. -------------------- desperance -- je me souviens arena -- et je me souviens de vous Posts: 2449 | Registered: Monday, October 15 2001 07:00 |

I don't know what to say. Goodbye and godspeed, Micah. Sorry you felt unwelcome here. Desperance would welcome you as a guest of honor. Despite our greasy, suspiciously stained exterior, we're actually a very nice bunch of folks inside. I'm glad to see that you felt the same way in debates as I did. No hard feelings if it got a little personal at spots, eh? We'll miss you. -------------------- desperance -- je me souviens arena -- et je me souviens de vous Posts: 2449 | Registered: Monday, October 15 2001 07:00 |

Using Ruthie's general allusion to her piercings as a guide, I like my ears and eyebrows as they are, I've been told horror stories by a related physician about what can readily go wrong when you get your tongue or bellybutton pierced, and the rest seem excessively private, pointless, and painful. [Not to mention, in one particular case, anatomically impossible.] As for tattoos, I have one. It's a little dot in my right knee called "Screwing Up And Stabbing Yourself Hard With A Pencil". I was nine or ten when I got it. Yeah, I used to be quite a wild child. Be warned, though, that mac-compatibility is currently a low priority. Most Mac users are, in the opinion of the staff, either patient enough to wait a while -- or willing to get an emulator of some kind -- or militant pissants. -------------------- desperance -- je me souviens arena -- et je me souviens de vous Posts: 2449 | Registered: Monday, October 15 2001 07:00 |

*Wiseman is lagging a little behind the others, half-lost in thought, when he hears a whispering, confident voice.* ???: I can help you, you know. Wiseman: What? Who's there? ???: I am a shadow. Nothing more, nothing less. I imagine you know a Kalnus... unfondly. Wiseman: How did you -- ???: Quiet. He is connected with an enemy group of your -- associates. You will encounter him when you move next. Wiseman: How did you know about my -- associates? ???: The walls have eyes, friend, and I see through them. The walls have ears, friend, and I hear through them. I am everywhere and nowhere... and you will no sooner be rid of me than you shall your shadow. Wiseman: But shadows only show their faces in the light of day... ???: Perhaps you are closer to your stepfather than you thought. Wiseman: What the hell do you mean? *He turns around to walk towards the voice, but he finds nothing. What he does find, however, is an envelope in his hand where he did not see one before.* -------------------- desperance -- je me souviens arena -- et je me souviens de vous Posts: 2449 | Registered: Monday, October 15 2001 07:00 |

Indeterminate/indeterminate/Finland, which pretty much sums it up for everyone from that part of the world. Abundant and clear evidence leading to such a conclusion exists. I would post a photo here but I am lazy. And also, the Gendo work does not work for you, my dear man Micah. I bear a striking resemblance to Timon, plus a little weight, hair, and age, and minus a little tan and good taste. For those of you who don't know what Timon looks like, you don't deserve to know what I look like. *A cadre of Imperial guards approach the scene. One bellows out, in a thick Aizoan accent:* Guard: Unauthorized mages, you are to dispell any magics on your person at once or be destroyed. Zephyr: I kowtow to no Empire, fools! *Out of the crowd steps a man in resplendent armor carrying a military bill in one hand and a glass orb on a chain in another. Szas nods and falls to his knees as the warrior approaches, his sun-and-sword insignia gleaming on his armor and helmet, his hair a grayed red under that helmet. He walks up to Zephyr, who casts some kind of spell. We never find out what spell that is, as he proceeds to smash him in the side of the head with that glass orb. Stunned, the sorceror can only sit in shock as he is hit in the sternum with the bill, sending him sprawled to the earth, losing blood too rapidly to repair from a shattered aorta.* Imperial Antimage: Die! *The antimage swings around again, smashing the glass orb into the "Gargoyle"'s left arm. A surge of power runs up it into his head. The mighty being falls to his knees, screaming miserably, shortly before one strong blow decapitates him.* Imperial Antimage: Now, gentlemen, I don't imagine the rest of you shall pose us any trouble? Szas: No, sir. I am sorry for this madness, sir -- I am a mage of great power, sir, and such power attracts persons of mental... infortitude. Imperial Antimage: Just see that it does't happen again. And for those of you in gray, start cleaning up this mess. -------------------- desperance -- je me souviens arena -- et je me souviens de vous Posts: 2449 | Registered: Monday, October 15 2001 07:00 |

BtI: You're wrong on that one. In Hebrew the messiah was named Joshua, in Aramaic likely Yeshua. Jesus Xrist comes from a Greek mangling of phrase meaning Joshua the Savior. Even though Jesus spoke Aramaic and Hebrew, "Jesus" is a Greek term, and should be pluralized as such. Sadly, I have no Greek, and can't tell you how to. -------------------- desperance -- je me souviens arena -- et je me souviens de vous Posts: 2449 | Registered: Monday, October 15 2001 07:00 |
