What the world should be and what the world has to be to become so are two decisively different pictures, to rudely speak for my associate Mr. Boeh. In an ideal system, there would be no need for taxes. Of course, in a system by which an ideal system can be reached or reasonably approached, taxes must increase. So there you are. -------------------- desperance -- je me souviens arena -- et je me souviens de vous Posts: 2449 | Registered: Monday, October 15 2001 07:00 |

Lord Szas fixed his sharp, icy glare -- attested to by only two ice-blue spheres coming from the darkness of his robes -- on the newcomer. "No. Go seek work elsewhere." *ef turns to him.* "Why did you--" "Quite frankly, I have no reason to trust anyone in Aizo. As our presence reveals, outlanders never have any legitimate business in Aizo, and we cannot exactly allow someone who is most likely a spy -- and VERY boastful of likely entirely impractical abilities -- into our ranks." "That reminds me -- when ARE we going to go about our, ah, "legitimate" business here?" "Soon. The meeting scheduled SHOULD be happening within a month, and close to here besides. I have kept quiet about it thus far to keep the flashy idiots that compose present company from knowing when we are to leave, so they shall not follow. We are not exactly going to the kind of party that welcomes uninvited guests, if you catch my meaning." "I most certainly do..." -------------------- desperance -- je me souviens arena -- et je me souviens de vous Posts: 2449 | Registered: Monday, October 15 2001 07:00 |

PCP is actually one I'd consider keeping illegal. And I'm sure Sir David doesn't believe in euthanasia, for the same reason he doesn't believe in abortion, contraceptives, and so on. You know, because we really need every human life more we have. -------------------- desperance -- je me souviens arena -- et je me souviens de vous Posts: 2449 | Registered: Monday, October 15 2001 07:00 |

I consider kids who love church and love God and aren't old enough to understand Easter without an easter bunny and chocolate repugnant, quite frankly. At that sort of age, children can make no distinction between issues of plain fact and deeper faith, and they take them as the same thing. Pervasive religion at that time in a child's life is essentially brainwashing. I know you're going to argue at me about this, but I've had some conversations with young children of enthusiastically churchgoing parents that made my soul hurt. But that's tangential. And as for my own religion, this lady and these gentlemen have described why you misinterpret me so badly. Just for the record, I have told you repeatedly that I'm a rather faithful Christian, but you never seem to pay attention. -------------------- desperance -- je me souviens arena -- et je me souviens de vous Posts: 2449 | Registered: Monday, October 15 2001 07:00 |

I personally think that marijuana has not been proven to have any long-term harmful effects in any sane study. As a result, it's not sane to waste as much money and time as we have opining that it is The Devil? and acting on such an opinion. -------------------- desperance -- je me souviens arena -- et je me souviens de vous Posts: 2449 | Registered: Monday, October 15 2001 07:00 |

William Randolph Hearst helped push for its illegalization because he saw hemp processing as a threat to his substantial business in the paper industry. Like the good media man he was, he got the people whipped into a spitting frenzy about marijuana's mostly falsified harmful effects, among them ludicrous claims that it was used by blacks and mexicans to lure white women to ruin [ruin here being "screwing black men and mexicans"]. It was principally an attempt to disarm the budding hemp industry by a man who would go on to chase halfway across Europe to shake hands with the Führer. Oh, and a blatant attack on Mexican immigrant culture and jazz counterculture, but that's neither here nor there. It's not disposition so much as condition that leads to repeated use; if you turn to something to escape the harshness of real life, chances are you'll turn back to it as an easy escape given any chance to do so. People get addicted to marijuana and gambling for the same reasons, basically. -------------------- desperance -- je me souviens arena -- et je me souviens de vous Posts: 2449 | Registered: Monday, October 15 2001 07:00 |

The difference is that capascin causes permanent damage in consumable doses. Marijuana hasn't been found to cause permanent damage when used in sane amounts [with "sane" here meaning less than the amount acquired from smoking it nonstop for two days solid], whereas very small amounts of capascin can even be lethal if one has a particularly low tolerance level to the stuff. In addition, it's difficult to produce in bulk and even if it produced the dulling effect JF mentions to a great extent [which it doesn't], look at the example given by people from cultures where the stuff is consumed on pretty much everything; an uncle of mine can grind by hand enough salsa to sate an extended family without any problems -- and the rest of our eyes burn being in the same house as the stuff while it's being ground up. To conclude, Djur's way of referring to ADoS, while inflammatory and unnecessary, looks to be sadly the extent of things. -------------------- desperance -- je me souviens arena -- et je me souviens de vous Posts: 2449 | Registered: Monday, October 15 2001 07:00 |

Testosterone plays a large role in the retardation of the growth of the long bones.
