Don't talk down to Corey, missy. He's got quite a bit more seniority than you, and is much more well-noted in the community. -------------------- desperance -- je me souviens arena -- et je me souviens de vous Posts: 2449 | Registered: Monday, October 15 2001 07:00 |

Most people don't. Indie rock poseurs, however, will continue to whinge about something being "overplayed" for decades. And I know, Bob. The problem is, Roger Waters is the only particular musician I enjoy and felt like naming, and the only case wherein most of the musical vision could be accredited to / blamed on one man. I might try their music on for a change of pace. And Rosycat, Roger Waters does not approve. -------------------- desperance -- je me souviens arena -- et je me souviens de vous Posts: 2449 | Registered: Monday, October 15 2001 07:00 |

Also, if you're an idiot who can't pull it off at all, it's also ill-advised. I'd post my own, but Alec is no follower. The last one was yesterday. Today a jelly sandwich and a trifecta of bacon-lettuce-cheese ones. The jelly was grape, the cheese swiss. quote:You know, until the 1930s, it was extremely uncommon in Great Britain for anyone, common criminals or otherwise, to have guns. So unlikely that, outside of a few areas, there were few police officers who considered carrying them necessary. You didn't exactly read about a lot of places being mined in Britain in the 1920s. Your situation is insane; it requires a LOT of concentration to properly mine a well-built structure, and that concentration would be just a little broken if you had people going after you with knives, or calling the police on you. -------------------- desperance -- je me souviens arena -- et je me souviens de vous Posts: 2449 | Registered: Monday, October 15 2001 07:00 |

Okay, since Chicken Little is unwilling to RP as a character who is not capable of killing everything that lives and much that doesn't with a wave of a hand, I'm not going to pay any attention to him. Scrioth awoke in a dim, dark section of cave, being prodded by green-skinned beings. He shrieked and drew his sword. Scrioth: What ARE you? Slithzerikai: *incomprehensible hissing* Scrioth: Err.... err... *A mage steps out of the Sliths. He gestures, and the sliths fall silent.* Slith Archmage: *beats his chest* Sss-Thoss. *Scrioth does the same.* Scrioth. Sss-Thoss: I am a mage. Scrioth: How do you speak my tongue? Sss-Thoss: Magic translation. Scrioth: Ah. I am a mage also. But I am a mage of fire. Sss-Thoss: I communicate with alien beings. Demons. Limber ones. Have not seen your kind before. What are you? Scrioth: Human. Of the Empire. Sss-Thoss: We are Slithzerikai, of my banner. There are many banners of Slithzerikai; few follow me. Many were exiled from our home; few wish to follow me. Scrioth: I wish to return to my camp and kill who separated me. It calls itself -- Sss-Thoss: Claymore. If you help me unite the Slithzerikai, Claymore will pay in blood. Scrioth: Excellent. I shall help you. Sss-Thoss: Good. The band in the next bend over is one of priests. They are cowards. A mage of fire can scare them into submission without a real fight. Scrioth: Very well... ******* -------------------- desperance -- je me souviens arena -- et je me souviens de vous Posts: 2449 | Registered: Monday, October 15 2001 07:00 |

Nice of you to destroy a two-thread RP and declare yourself the DM of your own asinine, self-pleasing plot in one post, TM. The Aizoan laughs, a hollow, evil laugh. "Stand back, men -- I will handle this for our friend the mage." He begins throwing around his rapier like a man possessed. At first, the trails of flame the tip leaves burn out, but soon they start to congeal, leaving a runic pattern burning in the air. He smashes the air with the rapier six times, leaving six great bursts of blue-gold fire arrayed in a brilliant circle. One of the Silvermin throws a rock at him. It hits the runic tapestry as if it were a steel wall and shatters into a thousand burning pieces. Then he turns to the left flank of the Silvermin. They are already charging, but the Imperials are standing behind the rapier-wielder, holding back for a counterassault. Then the Aizoan smiles, a wide, wicked smile. "By the power vested in me by the Directory, I consign you to the flames!" Sparks of fire begin to spit out of the six floating motes, staggering the entire left flank. From the center comes a solid stream, singing any lucky and foolish enough to get within a dozen yards of the Imperial flamethrower. After sixty seconds have passed, twenty times as many blasts of flame have scorched the left and extreme center of the Silvermin attack. The rest of them have broken, and flee furiously, despite the urgings of the two Silvermin heroes. The flaming runes around the Aizoan are sucked into him, and form a resplendent golden aura. He pulls out his rapier again; it glows with the intensity of a small sun. "When you meet the twisted monstrosity that made your sorry lot, you can tell him you were sent by Scrioth!" Scrioth, thus identified, charges the fleeing Silvermin, Imperial forces whooping at his feet. -------------------- desperance -- je me souviens arena -- et je me souviens de vous Posts: 2449 | Registered: Monday, October 15 2001 07:00 |

Silence reigns over the forces assembled. Stunned silence, but silence nonetheless. An Imperial, with the sharp, gray eyes and red hair identifying an Aizoan nobleman, steps forward. A rapier bounces at his belt, leaving wisps and traces of blue flame carved into the thin air behind it. He is arrayed in light, black leather, decked out with the trappings of an Imperial military official. Glowing runes on the shoulders and insignia on the chest would identify him to any imperials as one of the chairmen of the Imperial Directory. And to any Imperials, it would so mark him as more dangerous than any demon. "Why should we stop for you, mage? These things are standing in the way of peaceful Imperial exploration, and have attacked us without provocation." -------------------- desperance -- je me souviens arena -- et je me souviens de vous Posts: 2449 | Registered: Monday, October 15 2001 07:00 |

Avernum 2 has much more of a sandbox feel, y'know? No strategy at all; you just click until the monster dies or you die. The graphics are still terrible, I don't like the 3d feel Jeff tries but fails to cop, and the dialogue system of Avernum is what it would be like if those of Black Isle's games had been dropped on the head while young. The end boss is a cinch, the puzzles are more asinine to appeal to a wider audience -- you know, the ones taken in by stupid parlor tricks like pseudo-3d -- and the item system is unjustifiably oversimplified. And there's no ambidexterity. Avernum 2 sucks. It could have been a contender. It could have been somebody, instead of a bum, which is what it is. And that's all there is to it. He is filled with lies. Exile 2 has a better plot and better gameplay; all Avernum 2 has that E2 doesn't have as well or better is flashy graphics. -------------------- desperance -- je me souviens arena -- et je me souviens de vous Posts: 2449 | Registered: Monday, October 15 2001 07:00 |

I never claimed conservatives were bad and liberals good. I merely claimed that the Republican Party was originally a very liberal organization, Lincoln was for all appearances a very liberal man, and both the original Republican Party and Lincoln would be ashamed of the way the modern Republican Party works. -------------------- desperance -- je me souviens arena -- et je me souviens de vous Posts: 2449 | Registered: Monday, October 15 2001 07:00 |
