Find a great black pearl, Shaper, and you will at last be a man. Find the black pearl. Over there, in the shallow water with the jagged rocks. -------------------- desperance -- je me souviens arena -- et je me souviens de vous Posts: 2449 | Registered: Monday, October 15 2001 07:00 |

And this current thread of discussion is a sin. Someone die for it, please. Preferably you, SM. I chose Thuryl for obvious reasons. WARNING! The previous post was originally written in Republican, a language very close to our own but posessing several false cognates which will fool the casual reader. Allow me to translate as a service to the community: quote:I still don't think it's got a blatant enough right-wing bias... does anyone know of any others that might have been written by people who George Bush II would criticize from the left? Thank you for your time. -------------------- desperance -- je me souviens arena -- et je me souviens de vous Posts: 2449 | Registered: Monday, October 15 2001 07:00 |

quote:It's still a rightist tendency. Sorry. quote: I would beg to differ. They had an authoritarian system. It's typically a trend of authoritarians to believe in racial superiority. Again, it might not be a trait of the right in general, but it's still a rightening trait. quote:'The enemy of my enemy is my friend' is a question most people would answer to in shades of neutrality. Agreeing to it or disagreeing with it wholeheartedly would mark a drastic swing to the right [which has always been a proponent of short-term political opportunism] or the left [whose current trend is long-term planning]. It's a politically charged question. quote:Companies are, by definition, obligated to bring profit to their shareholders. That's why people become shareholders. If they didn't have such a responsibility, the modern economy would not exist. You know, whinging about this one identifies you as more a proponent of Marx than Rand. You can go scrub your hands with a Brillo pad now. quote:[/b] Strict disobedience to authority is a non-authoritarian trend. Again, you're thinking in terms of "left" or "right" as one axis -- this is on the authoritarian/libertarian axis, not on the economic right/left axis. quote:The key word is "develop". They HAVE a personality in the same sense a region HAS the potential for geothermal power. quote:And you're wrong every time you say it, it seems. Saying "strongly disagree" would identify you as holding a basic tenet of authoritarian belief -- that secrets from authority AREN'T natural. quote:See also Adolf Hitler, 1933. quote:Note the term "significant advantage". The question here is, is it a GOOD thing that it is removing those arguements? Arguement within government is a basic democratic trait. quote:See also Rudy Giuliani, 2000. [Or was that 1998? I forget.] quote:[/b] True. but they give a good general idea. quote:Churl, you are my bestest friend. :P [/QB][/QUOTE] -------------------- desperance -- je me souviens arena -- et je me souviens de vous Posts: 2449 | Registered: Monday, October 15 2001 07:00 |

I don't want to spend $150 on a bedsheet and $110 on an ugly shirt named after an ex-pope and come out looking like a man named Lance kicked my ass so hard I fell down in the 19th century and couldn't get back up, dear. But that's just me. I wear surgeon's clothes on a daily basis, so what do I know? -------------------- desperance -- je me souviens arena -- et je me souviens de vous Posts: 2449 | Registered: Monday, October 15 2001 07:00 |

I joined the Exile community -- as a greater whole -- at the time at which recent news included BoE coming out for Windows. I first played Exile in the Carribean. It frustrated me for a while before I figured out the difference between my ass and a hole in the ground. So there you are. You might have joined the UBBs 6 hours before me, but I've been in this community for God knows how long, I've been a part of it the whole time, and I intend to stay. *smiles broadly* -------------------- desperance -- je me souviens arena -- et je me souviens de vous Posts: 2449 | Registered: Monday, October 15 2001 07:00 |

Jeff is filled with all kinds of hubris. He abandoned BoE and got insulted when others offered to fix the glaring logistic errors he refused to. Then he got pissed off when scenario designers suggested improvements to his plans for BoA, going so far as to suggest that designers didn't count as customers. This was only helped by ignorant gits who had never so much as looked at BoE sideways swearing up and down that it wasn't possible to outdo Jeff's games and scenarios and there was no point even trying. "Does the player really want to play through 100 of your towns?", Jeff Vogel asked. Suggestion, Mr. Vogel? PLAY A COUPLE OF FREAKING SCENARIOS BEFORE YOU ADVISE US AS TO HOW THEY OUGHT TO BE MADE All that considered, I'm sure Jeff is just going to jump on the chance to make a game with a 3d engine. -------------------- desperance -- je me souviens arena -- et je me souviens de vous Posts: 2449 | Registered: Monday, October 15 2001 07:00 |
