Anyone ever heard of them? They're "progressive rock," and I've kind of gotten into them ever since my music teacher, who plays piano and background vocals for them, brought them in to play for the high school. They're really quite cool. Apparently, they're popular mostly with college students, but they have a few fansites, and so I was wondering if anyone here had ever heard of them or any of their albums...I can only remember their second-latest album "Cowboy Poems Free" and their new one "Mei."

I downloaded a couple of samples off their website; they sound kind of Ben Folds/Five-ish, if you like that sort of thing.
Nice shoegaze-y/sweatercore stuff.

Ben Folds Five, really? You have piqued my interest...
BBF truly are a worthy band - Whatever and Ever Amen is one of my favourite albums.

I tried, RoR, but I'm afraid I can only listen to The Dead Kennedys, Jawbox, Interpol, and Burning Airlines, and things of that ilk. Too sad.

I might try their music on for a change of pace.
And Rosycat, Roger Waters does not approve.

There is more to music than Dark Side of the Moon, Alec. There's the Wall. And Animals. And A Momentary Lapse of Reason. And Echoes.

And music that isn't Pink Floyd.

I'm not sure whether the appropriate response to that is to shout AHH ECHOES or to laugh at TM for making a scenario that shares a name with a song by someone he can't stand.

I do not approve of Roger Waters.
I do not approve of anybody who has an international fan site.

I do not approve of you not approving of Roger Waters.

I like Smashmouth.

EDIT: Actually, the truth is, I couldn't care less if you approve of him or not...

You haven't already?

By the way, why do people always complain of it being overplayed? Until about a week ago, I hadn't heard it on the radio for like a year...

If it was ever a car commercial, it's ruined forever. Well, at least ten years or so.

Most people don't. Indie rock poseurs, however, will continue to whinge about something being "overplayed" for decades.
And I know, Bob. The problem is, Roger Waters is the only particular musician I enjoy and felt like naming, and the only case wherein most of the musical vision could be accredited to / blamed on one man.

Most people that I know do. And a quarter of the bad movies produced in the past five years have had All-Star in them.

As for complaining about overplaying, well, how can one bear having horrible music inflicted on them again and again and again and again and again

EDIT: And I agree with PBR, as usual.

Horrible music? Well, that's a whole different problem. One that requires much more brutal punishment, of course... *attempts to look menacing* *fails*

As for the car commercial, hey, I didn't like that any more than you do, probably a lot less actually. And Rosy, you better not be refering to Shrek when you say "bad movies"...

WELL, ahem ahem. In the general scheme of things, yes I would be. Referring to Shrek, that is. And Mystery Men. And Little Secrets. And a score of others.

And what do you mean, poseur.
Period use intentional.

You haven't done nothin'.

...I just bought the new blur album. I like it, it's very Radiohead-ish experimental.

I haven't got a nice playlist and I don't want to get up to change CDs, so I've been listening to The Clash (yes, their first album that's titled "The Clash") for almost a half hour now.

Dave Gilmour most definitely disapproves.
