Don't be daft, Alorael. As anybody who bothered to play Avernum beyond the opening screen before hitting Alf+F4 or the Mac equivalent, they'd notice that north isn't up. It's an isometric view.

Baldur's Gate is turn-based, it just doesn't make it obvious.

I was satisfied with Avernum, but between playing Avernum 2 and 3, I played Fallout and some of the better Blades scenarios. It was never the same.

Easy customisation? You ever tried to use Blades. Horribly clunky tool. Those who have designed playable scenarios with it have much kudos.

Three simple things to learn about the internet:

1. The internet is full of loons.
2. Loons do daft things.
3. There is no way to protect yourself from the loons.

No, this is just slander. Well, libel, but I'm of the opinion that conversation on message boards ought to be classed as spoken word. Not that they've yet made a conviction for writing somehing on the net yet, so far as I know.

So what's a sagot then? I was working on the principle that you could pick whatever initial letter you wished with no real meaning.

In Colchester Castle, there's a place just inside the gate which is where a Quaker starved to death because he refused to be conscripted into either the Royalist or Puritan armies.

Around the same time, the Witchfinder General passed that way. I know who I'd consider the hero.

I'm not sure exactly how the term punk started to be used in a musical contxt, but I know when the first punk bands started referencing MC5 (I think that's the name) as an influence, those members of the gang who were incarcerated suddenly found prison much worse.

Spain had gone Catholic during the time of Reogvildo, which was around a century before.

Besides, the Byzantines assumed Islam was a new variant of Arianism when they first encountered it.

Have a friend who's into punk music? Are they homophobic to some degree?

Tell them what the word really means. Hours of amusement ensue.

Back in the day, the first Christians were Jews. Around the time of Acts, one of the main controversies in the Church was whether Gentile Christians really counted and whether they had to be circumcised or obey the other restrictions.

Also known as Nazarene Christians.

So long as I get the milk and post every day, I don't worry about it. If the paperboy is attacked by a wormhole, I'd be the first to investigate but until then I figure that anybody who wants to find the centre of the universe should just ask directions.

Y'know, David does seem to be winning this argument. Mainly because some people can't accept that HE DOESN'T HAVE TO LIKE HOMOSEXUALITY IF HE DOESN'T WANT TO. He doesn't use violence in his disagreement. He merely says that his scriptures, which he believes are God's teachings, say that it is wrong.

RoR, he said that he disagreed. He also counted the person as a 'friend.' That suggests it's not some massive personal crusade for him. Grow up. If you want to win the argument, you must use logic, not wild sweeping statements.

I heard something to the effect that space-time is a sphere and a sphere has no centre, so there need not have been anything to start the Big Bang.

I didn't follow it at all, since a sphere clearly has a centre.

As far as the prophets go- some I like. Generally the older ones, who wrote less. They're very rarely quoted except by preachers of apocalypse because they were either farmers with a near maniacal hatred of urban life or rabid demagogues.

They're good to read because a) the prose is readable, whereas the early stuff must have been written in a time with a lesser vocabulary or the writers must have been semi-literate b) flawed characters are more interesting and c) Isaiah sends me to sleep and I don't like the message of books like Ezra.

Christianity itself isn't hypocritical, although occasionally contradictory. The various Christian churches are, but I for one believe they're absolutely different things.

Major problem I would have with being short: Short people tend to walk slower. I'm always hurrying nowhere in particular.

I agree with the rest of Djur's post, but then I'm 16 and whilst I'm not a computer geek (technology hates me) I am a geek.

David, do you believe Methuselah lived 969 years? Do you believe that, contrary to all available evidence, the earth was created around 6000 years ago, making Jericho twice as old as the rest of creation?

If not, the bible is lying to you.

For that matter, who are you to say whether we actually have the right bible now? The entire Old Testament only remains in the work because of a compromise Paul made with the Nazarene Christians to prevent Christianity becoming a Jewish sect.

There are 65 books in the Pseudographica, 40 more in the New Testament Apocrypha and 14 in the Apocrypha, which may or may not belong. How can we decide that we should not use the Traditions of Matthias because of its Gnostic links, or the Shepherd of Hermas because 4th century scholars happened to dislike it, or the Apocalypse of Peter because it was Eastern-influenced. I can go on, and am prepared to do so if you wish (I'm very interested in the scriptures which didn't make the cut.)

The point I'm making is that we've lost and gained books over the years due to persecution, the ravages of nature and political scheming from Paul to Constantine. Had things turned out differently, you might consider Leviticus an exclusively Jewish text.

Oh, and if you can't be bothered to read this post, may I ask you to give up the argument, since that would mean you aren't capable of sustaining it against all inquiries. Same for any other posts by anyone else.

I once read through all the spam that piled up for the previous two weeks before deleting it. I've come to the conclusion that there are only three guys sending me porn, but they're sending a lot of it.

I just keep the breast enlargement spam now. You never know when it might come in useful.

He's being polite by his standards. By the standards of most of the rest of the posters, comparing homosexuality to being crippled and suggesting that a simple tale is something that is "probably too complex for most of you to understand" (or words to that effect) is a) patronising and b) offensive.

Having said that, there's no point giving him ammunition.

Jesus didn't intend to spread a message of prejudice. What he said was pretty socially liberal for the times, and even for today in some cases, but it doesn't entirely conform with modern thought.

There are problems with the bible, and there are problems with Christianity. You're better off making your own objective decisions about what Jesus might do (even if it does make a terrible bumper sticker) than the holy texts intended for a tribal society nearly 3000 years ago. Had the likes of Ezra, whoever wrote Revelations and St Augustine been around today, I'm certain their views would be much less adhered to.

Do what Jesus would do- burn your local bank down!
