EM and Zephyr: Please, posts longer than a few sentences would really help the quality of this RP. Just kill the gazers and move on to something mroe important.

(IC later) (Also, Drakey, what do the three factions currently have in the way of navies?)

EDIT: Grammars fixing.

After changing my name to Sir DAOvid for a while, I tried to change it back to Sir David, but couldn't. Before NaCN finally came up with "iDavid", I went through a period during which every day brought a new name, most of which were parodies of other Spiderweb names, or game names... The only ones I can remember The *RAEL* Alo and Age of David... does anyone remember any others?

Alec: I thought Drakey told me that the mountainous areas were darker, though, and that shading reflected the altitude, not influcence or control... maybe I misread...

Yeah, I love plain rice too. I generally prefer Chinese rice to Indian rice, too, when it's not plain. And pizza was invented in New York... and for that matter, so were potato chips; in my hometown, in fact...

My artistic talent lies in writing and music. I am also not a bad actor, but stage fright doesn't help; nor am I a bad singer, but I run out of breath too quickly. Visual arts are my weakness, artistically; I can draw better than many people, sure, but it takes me so long (I'm a perfectionist) that I'd be living in a box before I could sell my first painting. Um. :P But anyway, I play piano and drumset (and other percussive instruments, at school) quite well. I have also began two or three novels, and I have plenty of ideas in my head for more stories. I've tried short stories, but I just can't restrict myself that much. Um... I don't consider RPing an art form, really, but I guess I can do that too...

I agree with Thuryl on this one. Thin crust is definitely better than stuffed, especially if the stuffing is spinach. If it's going to be stuffed with anything, it should be bread. And I definitely prefer meat to vegetables on my pizza. I find steak disgusting though, unless it's brown; red, pink, any kind of uncooked bloody steak type thing is just really unappealing.

The map is fine. Green is Ironclad, pink is Kylen, yellow is Solaran. Grey is neutral. Darker areas have higher altitudes. Blue is water, obviously. Red is mountain passes, forts, and the capitol city (in the middle of Kylen territory).

IC: Gideon Ironclad strode through the open door, into the Council's meeting room, ignoring the guards bowing to him on either side.
"My liege," said Lord Janson, as the council stood and bowed. "Please, take my seat. Lord Grantis could not come today, I will sit in his place."
Gideon noticed the nervous looks the lords were giving each other; he had not been at a meeting of the Council for months. They had always told him it was not important, that he could effectively rule from the throne, and that anything decided at the meetings would be passed by him, anyway. But he knew that many things were happening in his empire without his knowledge; he wondered how his presense would affect the meeting.
"We are honored by your presence, Emperor Ironclad," Lord Janson said. "We were just going to discuss that fishing village to the north, the one with an unusually high surplus."
"I see. But I wish to discuss our cavalry."
As he said this, the Emperor fixed his eyes on Lord Bahrain; he saw the man lower his eyes, then exchance glances with Lord Janson.
"Yes, my liege. But this village must be discussed -"
"It is a fishing village, Lord Janson. Reward them or congratulate them how you want, but we will discuss the cavalry."
"Yes, my liege."
"The Kylens have cut us off from our land in the south; they are still loyal to the Empire down there, are they not?"
"They are, my liege."
"But they are cut off from our supplies, and losing ground every day." Gideon Ironclad had heard this from Erland; the council members had no idea that he knew this.
"Yes, my liege, but this directs attention away from us here, in the northern lands."
"And why should that make a difference? Do my people not matter?" said another lord, sitting to the emperor's left.
"I apologize, Lord Dekker, but it is more important to protect the heartland and the area near the western mountains," replied Lord Janson.
"Why? My land was rich before this war; now our resources are exhausted, our men are exhausted, and we will not be able to hold off those traitors forever."
"If they take this land, though, yours will not matter," said Lord Janson, in an almost sarcastic tone.
"My land is part of the Empire! You cannot leave us to our fate!"
"You cannot command me!"
"You cannot ignore my land!"
"SILENCE!"
Astonished, the lords turned to the back of the room.
"Uh... please, I..." Gideon Ironclad had not only surprised the council; he had surprised himself.
"My deepest apologies, Emperor," said Lord Janson finally, after a long silence. "Lord Dekker could not see the bigger picture, and I -"
"This is part of the picture -"
"Never mind, Lord Dekker, Lord Janson," interrupted the Emperor. "It is true, the western lands are important. But Kylen controls the rivers of this land, and we must regain control somehow. That is why I brought up cavalry. We need our cavalry to break through to Lord Dekker's land in the south; it would cut the eastern Kylens off from their commanders, and then we could deal with them as we wish."
"My liege, we do not have enough cavalry for such an attack," replied Lord Bahrain, as if speaking to an ignorant child. "We can only defend our land from these invading traitors, we cannot push them out."
"Then I will make more cavalry. If we cannot breed horses quickly enough, we will take them from the city guard."
"Again, Emperor Ironclad, we cannot do that. We need them to contain Andrax, and anyway, there are not enough to fight the Kylens. Nor do we have enough trained riders."
"Then we will train more. Now. Bring more swordsmen in to replace those on horse, and train our guard for an attack. Good day, my lords."
With that, Gideon Ironclad stood up and walked out of the room; the incredulous gazes of the lords of the council followed him.

EDIT: OK, the last post in this RP when I started typing this was Zephyr's. So... I guess the Kylens to the south that Gideon wants to attack would just be guerillas... well... whatever. Just to let you know.

This is going to end in a flame war, so I'm staying out and not reading much of anything after Xan Kreigor's post. All I want to say is that religious people are not necessarily simple. The fact that our views differ from yours does not make us idiots. If I were to say that all atheists are simple, I would be flamed off he face of the earth; yet you have just said that all those who believe in God are simple, and no one even notices. Please, people, at least respect each others' views. And don't kill Apollyon...

"Silence", by "Nobody Else Being Home",

I think expletives don't ruin music as long as they're not being used specifically to make that song sound "better"... for instance, "Rockin' the Suburbs" by ben Folds Five is a pretty good song in my opinion, but could certainly be improved by taking the focus off cursing in the end of the song. However, several of Third Eye Blind's songs have expletives in them; their newest album is Parental Advisory. I think it's ridiculous that they'd make one of their albums Parental Advisory when it would be much easier not to, but the cursing doesn't ruin the songs at all, really.

"We do not have enough cavalry for that, my liege," replied Lord Barhain. "We cannot take that fortress, we can only reenforce ours near it."
"Then take horses from the city guard," the Emperor replied. "They can all patrol on foot."
"But what if there is a riot? Andrax is gaining power. His little army consists solely of drunkards at the moment, but who knows? They almsot killed Lord Grantis yesterday."
"If he gets any more support, kill him."
"We cannot do that, my liege, it would only make his followers angrier. They are drunkards, as I said; they are not reasonable."
"The footmen can contain his riots, I say! We need those horses at the front! Which of us is Emperor?"
Bahrain tilted his head to the side and smiled condescendingly. "I shall bring it before the council, Emperor Ironclad." He bowed out of the room.
"Lord Bahrain!"
The man kept walking, as if he had not heard.
Gideon sighed in frustration. He looked down at his robe, contemplating what to do.
"Erland. Come here."
The page stood up from his chess game, leaving the soldier glaring after him. What Erland lacked in size and age, he more than made up for in strenth and intelligence. He annoyed the Imperial Guard to no end, and often found out secret information that Gideon thought no one else knew; but he was Gideon's favorite page nevertheless, and always managed to cheer him up when the news was particularly bad.
"How much power do I really have, Erland?"
The page, looking up into the Emperor's boyishly handsome face, averted his eyes, then lowered his head.
"Not much, my liege."
"The council has taken over, haven't they?"
The boy looked back up at him. "Yes, for the most part."
"For the most part?"
"Well, the Imperial Guard is still very loyal to you, and..."
"Yes?"
"Well, I think if you really tried..."
"Yes?"
"I think you could override anything the council decrees."
Gideon thought about this.
"Anything?"
"They think that when the army returns from the Aizoan front, they will be able to convince Warderson that Lord Janson is Ironclad I's true heir, not you. That is why they have gotten so confident. But if you can prove that you are well-suited to rule Pralgrad, they will probably lose that confidence. All you need to do is prove yourself."
"The cavalry... tell me, Erland, how much do you know about cavalry? And about the city guard?"
The soldier tapped his foot impatiently; Erland looked over at him, and at the chess game. He noticed that several more pawns had been captured since he had stood up; he glared at the soldier, and turned back to the Emperor.
"I heard your conversation with Lord Bahrain, my liege. Andrax is not as influencial as the council thinks; the city guard could do with half as many horses as it has now. They would be put to better use at the front."
"Thank you, Erland."
Erland bowed low, then went back to his game, arguing over the stolen pieces. Gideon Ironclad stood up and walked off in the direction of Lord Bahrain.

I was planning to use newbies for sword practice when I returned to Spiderweb, but I guess I got used to them. Either that, or I just rememberred what I was like as a newbie... *shudder* anyway, welcome, Apollyon. Isn't that just a Greek translation of the Hebrew word for "destruction"?

EDIT: I mean, if it's capitalized... Apollyon = Abaddon, right? Would it be capitalized in Hebrew? Do they capitalize stuff like that in Hebrew, or do they have some kind of equivalent? Great, I'm confusing myself...

The houses Sol and Ironclad are the most powerful in the Empire. By unwritten law, the Emperor is always a member of one of these two houses. When this law was broken with the Viceroy I's corronation, Pralgrad was thrown into chaos. When this emperor was assassinated, three factions rose from the rubble. The Solarans, seeing their chance to return to power once more after the long rule of the Ironclads, quickly rose up behind Jehan Sol. A small group, the Kylens, broke away from the Ironclads. They were led by Viceroy I's councellor, Dorian Kylen. But, with the death of the unpopular Viceroy I, many turned to the house Ironclad to restore order.
Gideon Ironclad is a puppet-emperor. Although the Empire is ruled in his name, it is really the bickering Ironclad council that rules the land. The Ironclads have the most legitimate claim to the throne, since the last emperor before Viceroy I was an Ironclad. But they fight an uphill battle. They are hard to defeat, since they are the most organized of the factions, but the Kylens and Solarans will do anything to maintain and increase their new- (or re-)found power; therefore, the Ironclads are at a stalemate. They rely on their pikemen and fine archers, mainly; defensive fighters, for the most part. They do not have the kind of cavalry needed for glorious line-shattering charges, nor the swordsmen for steady, effective hacking at enemy positions.
However, what the Ironclads lack in leadership and offensiveness, they make up for stability. The peasants in Ironclad-controlled land remain largely unaffected by the war, other than the usual shortages caused by by war; blockades and Solaran attacks on the SAFT are the main problems. The roads are intact, the fortresses are generally secure, and the armies are relatively well-supplied. And when hope begins to fail, the promise of the army returning one day from the Aizoan front becomes a powerful restorative.
Gideon Ironclad does not fear a defeat at the hands of the bitter Solarans or the ambitious Kylens. What he fears is the council, the people, and those within Ironclad territory who would take power from him. His fears are not directed abroad; they are directed at his own Empire.

If you want to join the Ironclads, you can be no more powerful than a captain; there will be no PC generals. A leader of a small specialist force of archers, maybe, or a captain of an unimportant division of cavalry, angry about the uselessness of the horsemen. And every RP could use some common soldiers; there's nothing wrong with holding a pike and listening to the barked commands of a little upstart commander. It just makes for a better RP. And you don't have to be a soldier, either; healers, mages, even peasants are perfectly fine. If you want to be a member of the Council, go ahead, but don't overstep your bounds; make sure there are plenty of people above you.

I'm very tired right now, but I thought I should type something up just to make it easier for everyone else. If I've made any mistakes (major mistakes, I don't want to see "OMG LOLZ YUO SPELLD "AND" WROGN!!1!") then please let me know; if you want any specifications or whatever, also let me know. Basically, if you know more than me, make that not the case. Thanks.
