No, I think Blades is fine. What's that Shaper weapon... is it Shaper Blade? Shaper Knife? MERRY CHRISTMAS PEOPLES!!! I was at my friend's house yesterday, and he was all excited about his presents, reminding me of when I was younger. You have no idea how much I wish I were still like that... Anyway, Happy Hannukah and Festive Kwanza too; Catholics don't celebrate Hannukah because (DISCLAIMER: This is just my guess) it was and is thought of as a Jewish holiday; Catholics did not want to make any more connections between themselves and the Jews than they had to. Now that that's changed a bit, Christians still don't celebrate it because it's not traditional; just as many Christians celebrate Christmas more because of tradition than anything. Thanks for making me think of that... next year I'm celebrating Hannukah... -------------------- And though the musicians would die, the music would live on in the imaginations of all who heard it. -The Last Pendragon TEH CONSPIRACY IZ ALL Les forum de la chance. Actually, I thought the oliphaunts were fine - too easily pitied, if anything. They didn't get slaughtered by cavalry, either; they basically ran unchecked until the Oathbreakers came and overran them. I mean, they're just supposed to be big elephants, really, so saying they're too big and powerful isn't really the case... they should be bigger and more powerful, really, if Jackson wanted them to stick to the book exactly. -------------------- And though the musicians would die, the music would live on in the imaginations of all who heard it. -The Last Pendragon TEH CONSPIRACY IZ ALL Les forum de la chance. Several days later, half of the horsemen returned; the other half, they said, were either killed, lost, or scattered. The report was that they had seen a contingent of swordsmen by the river, and the leader had ordered a charge. They had gotten quite close before the leader had been shot through the heart with an arrow, and while the cavalry mixed with the swordsmen, Kylen archers had sprung out of nowhere, apparently; havoc had ensued, and while an equal or greater number of Kylens had been killed, they were far more replaceable. The council was shocked, and furious; they had been against this attack, as the Emperor well knew, and his stupidity had lost them most of their horses and trained horsemen. They quickly passed a new law, stating that horsebreeders were to sell 90% of their available horses to the government; they would be well rewarded in money, it was said. The Emperor, upon hearing the news of the defeat, locked himself in his chambers. The council, seeing the necessity of a well-trained cavalry, began organization immediately. Meanwhile, the Ironcladians increased the number of archers in that region, hoping to take advantage of the Kylen deaths, and also the number of pikemen, in case the horses had been captured rather than killed. That same day, the messenger returned with the SAFT's offer. Already angry, this infuriated the council: how dare they make such outrageous demands of the government of the Empire! But luckily for the Ironclads, the messenger managed to calm the council by reminding them that the Solarans would most likely have even less luck, considering the blockades and general hostility, and that the Kylens' recent cease-fire (as it appeared) with the Solarans would not help relations with the SAFT. It appeared that the SAFT would remain free, at least for the moment. Subdued, the council decided to put the SAFT off until later; if naval help could not be hired, it would have to be built and trained. Neither the Council nor the Emperor knew that, while many horsemen had been killed and some captured in their battle by the river, the rest had found Sullust and his men hiding nearby, and were even then deciding what to do about the traps... -------------------- And though the musicians would die, the music would live on in the imaginations of all who heard it. -The Last Pendragon TEH CONSPIRACY IZ ALL Les forum de la chance. Yes, yes, we all know that a human instinct is to hate the guys in charge. You don't have to illustrate it. Anyway, I think one of the biggest problems is dealing with the rebel groups that always pop up in these third-world countries. Many are created with good intentions, but almost all of them end up more corrupt than the government they are fighting. These rebel groups also appear when a new government takes over, as is the case in Iraq. But think about it: if the people of Iraq knew that no one but the U.S. would be in power, don't you think they'd be a bit more willing to help? They are afraid that we will leave the country up for grabs, and that the old Baathists will take over, or some new terrorist group; basically, a group that would kill them for helping the Westerners. After the people are free from this fear, they can do whatever they want; this will generally be to help stabalize the nation, restore order, get electricity and clean water, that sort of thing. But as it is, they do not want to make any move that would attract the attention, and the wrath, of those who they fear might take over. -------------------- And though the musicians would die, the music would live on in the imaginations of all who heard it. -The Last Pendragon TEH CONSPIRACY IZ ALL Les forum de la chance. Ugh, that's kind of nasty :( I once let my pet guinea pig loose on a table on which there was a female guinea pig... I didn't realize what they were doing until after I had separated them, but luckily (since the female was old) there was no conception. And insects, those horny little buggers... always flying around and landing on peoples' legs while "going at it"... OK, no more animal sex discussions for me... this is not exactly the best topic... -------------------- And though the musicians would die, the music would live on in the imaginations of all who heard it. -The Last Pendragon TEH CONSPIRACY IZ ALL Les forum de la chance. I can see how reading a book first would make the movie less enjoyable, but doesn't it also work the other way around? Uh... each line is an eigth note, sixteenth note, or quarter note, depending on how fast you're singing. I assume you know the tune, and should be able to figure out how to sing it from this... the "en" of "golden" is held over that fourth note, and the "rings" can be held for two notes, as I've indicated, or for the three or four notes, two of which I've left blank. The two notes in "five" are slurred, but you probably knew that already. Hope this helps =] EDIT: Fixed the code. EDIT2: Or if it's pure gold, Sullust... the golden coloring could be due to the fact that the rings are, in fact, cold... Well if you think it's "gold", then my lyrics are alternative... anyway, "No chewing gum" has four syllables, as does "Five golden rings"; "five gold rings" does not, and therefore it sounds, and is, wrong. Now let me go look for that gangster version... -------------------- And though the musicians would die, the music would live on in the imaginations of all who heard it. -The Last Pendragon TEH CONSPIRACY IZ ALL Les forum de la chance. Yeah, Pirates of the Carribean was awesome. I think the best movie I've watched recently, other than Return of the King, is Runaway Jury. Yes, recently; I am not a movie person. Anyway, I thought Runaway Jury was a great movie; it actually made me feel like I was there, not just watching, and any movie that can do that is great, in my opinion. I usually don't watch or read John Grisham, either. -------------------- And though the musicians would die, the music would live on in the imaginations of all who heard it. -The Last Pendragon TEH CONSPIRACY IZ ALL Les forum de la chance. I agree with Motrax as well. Swearing may emphasize a point, but really, aren't there better ways? And it has lost its meaning, too; saying "damn" now has far less of an effect than it would, say 50 years ago, or 100 years ago. Although cursing can be quite funny, sometimes; I was on the "ghetto bus" to school for two years, for some reason, and believe me, I heard some pretty funny things that just wouldn't have been the same without cursing. -------------------- And though the musicians would die, the music would live on in the imaginations of all who heard it. -The Last Pendragon TEH CONSPIRACY IZ ALL Les forum de la chance. OOC: Please, please let that be the last of the gazers... IC: Within an hour of the council meeting, Emperor Ironclad had ordered several divisions of pikemen to return to the city in replacement of virtually all of the horsemen. These he ordered south, to break through the Kylen guard on the river between the northern Empire and its souther lands; the council was shocked at such decisive action from the Emperor, and all but Lord Dekker were dismayed. The horsemen had been trianed to patrol the city and contain riots, not to charge strongly-held river positions. At his page's suggestion, Emperor Ironclad ordered the leaders of the horsemen to train them in camp along the way; this would certianly slow them down, but he thought it would give them enough experience by the time they reached the river. The Emperor had the horsemen remaining in the city watched so that the council could not send them out after the new cavalry. Soon after sending these men to attack the Kylens, scouts came to the city to report to the council that the Kylens had a navy-building operation, with three river-going ships at the docks. The council decided at once to begin their own operation. All of this Gideon Ironclad heard from his page and his Imperial Guard; afraid that it would distract his people from this new attack to the south, the Emperor ordered Lord Janson to focus on the cavalry instead, and to build no new docks, nor to upgrade an existing one, until the Kylens had been driven from the river. While working to get around this direct order, the council sent a messenger to the SAFT to offer gold and lumber in exchange for naval protection, were it ever needed... -------------------- And though the musicians would die, the music would live on in the imaginations of all who heard it. -The Last Pendragon TEH CONSPIRACY IZ ALL Les forum de la chance.
