It's worth accounting for contingencies. After all, even if the player doesn't deliberately go in with a bizarre party, sometimes characters die, and some players actually leave them dead until they can get them resurrected instead of reloading. How did you get into the cave-in room without having the first 5 triangles anyway? Were you using a god-party that's capable of opening doors with ridiculously powerful locks? -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

Not necessarily about things to be avoided; fairy tales were often just morality tales in general. I've always found the premise of "The Girl Who Trod on the Loaf" hilarious in a vaguely unsettling way. He's American. Drinking age is 21 over there. Still, surely there have to be other amusing diversions that become legal at the age of 18. -------------------- My BoE Page Bandwagons are fun! Roots Hunted! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

Hey, Drakey, doesn't your method still need char_ok() checks, just in case the party has some weird configuration like having PCs only in slots 2 and 4? -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

I'd hardly call Luck useless. Once a character has 10 points or so of Luck, they're pretty much invincible, because an attack will almost never kill them even if they're at 0 HP. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Well, you're expected to be thorough in playing it. Ideally, you should play through repeatedly, do different things each time, and make detailed comments and suggestions. Try to break the game's internal logic by doing things in ways the designer wouldn't expect. Assess whether combat is well-designed and what imbalances (if any) exist. When done well, it's considerably more work than just playing through it. Also, you have to expect a lot of bugs. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! He's not just dead; he's undead. That's how he still cashes his cheques. Of course, as the undead don't need such basic necessities as food, central heating and Internet access, the cash then gets funnelled to Jeff. Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

For a beginner, I'd recommend Spears. It's a large, high-quality scenario, but all of the combat is fairly easy. Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

Let me guess: you're using Windows? And you downloaded the scenario off Spiderweb's scenario tables? The Windows version of the scenario that's available at SW is a beta version that TM released by mistake, and it's kind of buggy. I'm not sure I see your point. There's a passionfruit vine growing against the back wall of my garden, but I wouldn't call passionfruit a vegetable. Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |
