I'm glad you asked. See, I've been more or less constantly out working in the garden at my family's holiday home since Wednesday. Said work included dragging loose bundles of chicken wire through dense shrubbery, shovelling a literal truckload of mulch into bags for future use, and (and from this next item comes the odour) picking fruit off both the trees and the ground. Since we don't visit the holiday home all that often, and don't always have time to do everything around the house when we do, some of the fruit on the ground were already in an advanced state of decomposition. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! You're not supposed to kill the shade until quite near the endgame. As for whether you should register, well, let me put it this way. You have the $25 needed to register, or you wouldn't be asking. If you weren't going to spend that money on Avernum 4, can you think of anything else to spend that $25 on which would be likely to give you significantly better value, and which you wouldn't buy if you were going to purchase Avernum 4? If you're asking whether Avernum 4 is worth buying in se, well, if you liked Avernum 3 and don't mind seeing more of the same but set in Avernum instead of on the surface, A4 won't disappoint. There are at least two Pearlescent Bands in the game as well. Unfortunately, I don't remember where the other is. Then again, this is turning into more of a "really neat items" topic than a "unique items" topic anyway. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! It means that you'll still be kept in "look" mode if you control-click on the thing you want to look at, so if you want to look at more than one thing, you can click again without clicking the Look button again first. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Only ever speed potions? He doesn't drink healing potions, which would at least be remotely sensible? Wow. I guess Jeff's claims about writing AI code in 5 minutes whilst drunk just might be true. I also guess this means that I might have found the game easier if I hadn't gone through the whole thing without casting Terror once. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Remember, you can only call move_to_new_town if the party activates the special encounter by stepping on a blue special rectangle. If you call it from a terrain script, a creature script, the START_STATE, or anything else except a special rectangle, it won't work. By the way, including yourself as a character in your scenario isn't classy. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Enduring Shield and Enduring Armour don't even do the same thing, despite the misleading description. They give different status effects, and Enduring Shield doesn't increase your maximum HP; however, Enduring Shield and Enduring Armor don't stack with each other (i.e. if you already have one effect on you, casting the other will have no effect). I'm not entirely sure whether the Enduring Armor effect also encompasses all the benefits of Enduring Shield. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! That's about 3 pm Thursday my time, isn't it? Chances are I won't be able to make it. Just a suggestion, but might a weekend time not work better? I know that holding it on a Saturday night would bitterly disappoint all the social butterflies in our community, but it might make it easier for people from other time zones to attend. I'm pretty sure there are at least two Charmed Plates in the game. I can't recall offhand where the other is, although I believe it was toward the endgame -- possibly the Darkside Loyalist base under Erika's Tower. There are two pairs of Putrified Gauntlets in the game as well; Rone's apprentice gives you one for killing the shades. I preferred the Answering Gauntlets, but they're pretty nice all the same. The Eyebeast Chitin, unless my memory fails me, is dropped by an eyebeast in the tunnels leading to Rentar's final fort. You can't really miss it; there's a whole pack of giants to fight at the same time. And of course, our old friend the Emerald Chestguard is on a corpse in Nociduas's lair, which is itself behind a secret passage in the northwest area of the Slith caves to the west of Fort Dranlon. Since nobody has posted the link in this thread yet, I'll direct interested parties to Slartucker's item stats list here. Yes. You can convince her to either surrender to the Vahnatai, or to leave Avernum alone and bother the Empire instead. Starrus and Ghall-Ihrno will be less than pleased if you pick the latter option. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! If you're even more patient, you don't even need a fighter at close range. Two hasted archers can usually damage a pylon slightly faster than it can heal itself. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |
