Hello, for those of you unaware, the Lyceum (glower at ezBoard) has an easy to access chatroom. This place is currently doing little but collecting cyberdust and growing digital cobwebs. I propose we should try to set up a weekly, perhaps biweekly chat for those interested in Blades of Avernum. This would be a good way to bring prospective designers and players together to share ideas, innovations, and offer suggestions for what the community wants to see in their scenarios. Now, it is impossible to please everyone as this is a global board. I will propose a time and see if people may be interested. Please feel free to comment on this. If there is interest in different times, please state and we can try to work with this. I propose 10 pm EST on the first and third Wednesday of each month. Does this work for people? Please comment. -------------------- Your flower power is no match for my glower power! Posts: 3726 | Registered: Tuesday, September 18 2001 07:00 |

That's about 3 pm Thursday my time, isn't it? Chances are I won't be able to make it. Just a suggestion, but might a weekend time not work better? I know that holding it on a Saturday night would bitterly disappoint all the social butterflies in our community, but it might make it easier for people from other time zones to attend. I'd love to join and share everything I encountered while playing and designing, but what is the time (GMT) that it will be held? (I'm don't really know where EST is, you see) [ Friday, December 30, 2005 23:29: Message edited by: Thralni, chicken god prophet ] -------------------- Play and rate my scenarios: Where the rivers meet View my upcoming scenario: The Nephil Search: Escape. If you want to know the EST time from GMT, GMT is about 9 hours later than our EST. I think I´m trying to be present too. :) Edit: Oh sorry, other way round. ;) [ Saturday, December 31, 2005 00:39: Message edited by: Slith Lord ] -------------------- You know, why the Sliths are green - because of their scales. Maybe you know why some slith eyes were once red - ´cause the demons, which led them were red. But why are the eyes of the Slith Lord Followers red? Because they see the remains of their enemies always before the battle begins! Posts: 179 | Registered: Friday, November 25 2005 08:00 |

Um, no. GMT is eight hours ahead of me, and I live in California. EST is GMT - 5. So if I'm not mistaken, 10 p.m. EST (in New York) is 4 a.m. in the Netherlands. I think I figured out once that mid-to-late afternoon on a Saturday in the U.S. is best, because 2 p.m. PST is 5 p.m. EST, 10 p.m. GMT, and even a fairly reasonable 11 p.m. for our Dutch and German friends, while it manages to be 9 a.m. for the folks in Sydney (not sure where precisely our Aussies are from). We'd cut out anybody living in, er, Russia, the Middle East, or India, but I think that would manage to be almost convenient for everyone. That suits me fine. Count me in! So what day will it all be happening? i think, as somebody (can't remember who) already said, that the weekend is best. For me sunday or friday is best. -------------------- Play and rate my scenarios: Where the rivers meet View my upcoming scenario: The Nephil Search: Escape. Give us your drek! Is this accessible from anywhere besides a web interface? I might join in from time to time, but it'd be more of an exception I guess. -------------------- Encyclopaedia Ermariana • Forum Archives • Forum Statistics • RSS [Topic / Forum] My Blog • Polaris • I eat novels for breakfast. As I said, the times right now are not set in stone and will float according to demand. My vision is to have an alternating week schedule with one time every other week and another the opposite time. The first chat, since I already said a date, will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2006 at 10 pm EST (Thursday, January 5, 2006 at 3 am GMT). This time was chosen for the US (the native country of Spiderweb Software) as it would be reasonable for everyone there. The other time is, as Kelandon suggests, perhaps a Saturday at 2 pm EST. Opinion on this? Almost forgot, the Lyceum is located at: http://pub26.ezboard.com/bthelyceum Access the chat interface on the top. You need to register, but that should not be too bothersome. It is web browser based and works decently well. If people have an alternate plan, please suggest that as well. I'm in for just about any time you can come up with. College leads you to keep strange hours... But the 10 pm EST time works great for me. In fact, I'd kind of prefer that. -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. I really, really, really, really hate undead. With a passion. I suggested a Saturday at 5 p.m. EST, actually, to avoid making Australians wake up early on a Sunday morning. :P -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. I'll be able to make it occasionally if it's 5 PM EST on Saturdays. I normally work 4-10 on Saturday. -------------------- "You're drinking liquor because you're thirsty? Excellent, it appears we have enough agreement for the first couple of chats. A central topic to discuss should be the next Blades contest and other community needs. We should probably try to get something hammered out soon on this. -------------------- Your flower power is no match for my glower power! Posts: 3726 | Registered: Tuesday, September 18 2001 07:00 |
