One more thing, I believe the 'stop talking so much' comment was ironical. It does not mean 'stop talking so much' (or else Alorael would have been Triple Canned). It can, however, mean 'stop spamming' or 'stop flaming'.

Whats that mean? Do I have to stay like that forever.

You get the 'Canned' title when you've behaved badly. While it is possible to get rid of it with astonishingly good behavior and contributions, I wish you luck. You'll need it. Zephyr Tempest has been Canned for as long as I can remember, and he's neither a newbie nor the most annoying of spammers.

Thank You, O Laconic Drakey :) . That's good to know. Although I can't really understand why he got banned in the first place if Jeff gave him permission to quote him. And even if he did do something wrong, shouldn't he have been warned first (like, 'could you please remove this quote from your sig, Barcoorah?') ?

Maybe Wise man was right about newbies....

SummerCatch073 couldn't know, if he/she really is a newbie. And his/her karma is no longer so low. He/she has two stars right now.

The poll is lacking a 'the forums have had no impact on my decisions' option.

I voted for 'yes, once' because I'm about to buy Blades of Exile, and I'm not sure whether I would even have downloaded the demo had I not been lurking on the forums.

Controversial story from good ol' Alec. Double posts. Spam. And Spidweb lurking on the boards. I have a bad feeling about this.

Nice story, though. :P

EDIT: I have no clue as of why Alo doesn't have a custom title. I do know that he keeps changing his username all the time as a protest ffor not getting a custom title. By the way, you don't get a custom title only for having more than 10000 posts. You must have earned it. again a reason for me not to understand why he doesn't have a custom title.

EDIT : Nevermind, Arancaytar and I posted almost at the same time. Thanks for the clarification, Aran. :)

Ah, thanks for the info. I can't remember seeing anyone other than Alorael having 'Your Postliness' as a title, by the way.

And um... why doesn't Alorael have a custom title, if he has so many posts?

I thought 'Your Postliness' was your custom title? It doesn't seem to appear in every forum, though.

I didn't know you could avoid it by using the keyboard, though... I have to try that.

Interestingly, I can't remember having that problem in A2. And since the Test of Patience can be hell even if you don't have any mouse/keyboard problems, I'm not sure I want to imagine what it must have been like for you. ;)

G2: training in Geneforge Series

Yep. Unlike Geneforge 3, it's usually best to wait until you've trained in a skill twice before using the canisters that will raise said skill. Also, I believe some trainers can only train you in the same skill once, no matter what.

I had that problem while playing the A1 demo some time ago. I think I also have that problem with Nethergate. If you click really quickly, you should only be moved one space. And if this is really annoying, I'm afraid you'll have to use the numpad.

I certainly don't want republicans to become conservative.

"Stagnate" need not imply a change. I'd take it as "The GF series should stop being stagnant".

Stagnant : not moving or developing, dull and inactive.

My sentence meant "I wouldn't like it if the plot of the GF series were to be stagnant" (rather than 'stop being stagnant', because as I said, I don't think it has 'stagnated' all that much so far. I do think that I will be quite upset if the Taker/Shaper war does not end in Gf4, however).

I certainly don't want the plot of the Geneforge series to stagnate. In fact, I'm looking forward to blasting the Shaper Council to bits. I hope the player will be able to do that in Gf4. I don't think the plot has stagnated all that much so far, but I'm glad the player will be able to play a non-shaper being in Geneforge 4.

I guess I just never thought that Gf1, 2 and 3 had the same plot. And technically, they don't. I don't like the 'just look at the big picture' thing too much, because as I said, most of the things that don't change are kinda part of the GF world. After all, what are RPGs about? Look at the big picture : There is a problem, and you are an adventurer who wants to solve it (or make it worse), usually killing bada** villains on your way. And solving minor problems while you're at it. Kinda boring, eh?

And seriously, what are you expecting? Geneforge 5 : Trajkov Learns How To Dance?

Alorael : "Oddly but unsurprisingly"? Teeheehee.

Startucker : I have BoA, but since there are so many BoE scenarios, I think I'll end up buying BoE anyway.

Dikiyoba.

Edit: Fixed typo.

...
Geneforge : -Find a boat, escape the island and, if possible, do something for or against Trajkov.

Geneforge 2 : Remote valley with 5 factions. Decide who you will help.

Geneforge 3 : War between Creations and Shapers. Again, you have to decide who you should help... But the overall plot is in my opinion quite different from Geneforge 2.

Although I'll admit that there is always a Creation/shaper conflict, but that's part of the Geneforge world, isn't it?

If you look at the big picture, instead of minor details like character and city names, plot of Geneforge 1/2/3 looks like this:

You are a shaper apprentice whose boat/teacher/school was destroyed, leaving you trapped on an island/valley/island chain, where you are greatly surprized to encounter rogue creations, the canisters and intelligent serviles. You have to chose which faction to join and under guidance of that faction's leader learn about Geneforge and have to decide whether to destroy it or help complete / use it. You have an option to leave early, but that will give you the "world is destroyed by massive war" ending.

So while I agree that each of the Exile games had an original plot, as did Nethergate and Geneforge, I don't think Jeff had written a new plot since Geneforge 1. And from what I've heard of A4 (no spoilers please) it's just a repeat of A3, similar to how Gf 3 is a repeat of Gf2, is a repeat of Gf 1.

You do have a point there, Zeviz. I just didn't see it that way... Then again, if the big picture changed too much, it wouldn't really be the same series, would it? Jeff might as well start making new series.

Oh wait - maybe that's what a lot of Spidwebbers want. Not that I would be against it, I just think a universe with potential shouldn't be terminated too early.

Terror's Martyr : So, erm, enjoying something 'rehashed' (at least in your opinion) is bad, then?

1) This is the most nonsensical thread I've ever seen on General. Well, except for that ninja vs. pirates thing.

2) There is an FAQ for the White Cult. I do not believe there is an FAQ for TGM's pictures. But maybe it has something to do with The Desperance Network. Or not.

EDIT : Yup, it definetely has something to do with Thuryl, TGM, Desperance, a certain fishy character, and 'AS'. And that's all I'm going to say. :P
