Yes, you need to reset the towns through the character editor. This will make all the friendly characters in all towns alive again. Unfortunately, it will make all hostile characters in all towns alive again as well.

I've played Nethergate. Not all the way through, of course. My Roman party actually wandered outside and into the mines about, oh, two weeks ago.

I suspect my preference for A2 has something to do with the fact that it was the first one I ever played and the many years of experience that comes from that fact.

It is a good thing no Spiderweb Software game takes place in real time, or else the game world would be completely destroyed even before Dikiyoba's party picked up their weapons.

Dikiyoba believes that the answer to question number three is about 200. After that, items are deleted.

Edit: Clarification.

Dikiyoba likes it. Speaking of which, Archmage Alex only has two more days to update his website before Dikiyoba is bitterly disappointed.

There isn't an Ice Lances spell in Avernum 4. There's Icy Rain but not Ice Lances.

Edit: Typo.

At least Dikiyoba has a clear-cut opinion about this one. It's Avernum 2.

Fortunately/unfortunately, spelling and grammar debates are an integral part of these boards, as are topics that veer off-topic.

Most of the spelling and grammar mistakes actually get left alone unless they are highly apparent. Since llama admits that his/her spelling isn't the best, I'm suggesting that llama types up posts in Word or another program with a spell/grammar checker first, corrects as many mistakes as possible, and then copies the text into a post.

No, Dikiyoba doesn't want to know how many mistakes a critical eye can find in this post.

Looking at your stats, Dikiyoba thinks that you must indeed value A2 highly to make a post about it.

It traveled from a Avernum/Geneforge debate to a spelling/grammar debate in glamorous Spiderweb style.

There's a quote button. Use it. If you want the whole post to be quoted, click on the quotation marks above the post you want quoted. If you only want part of a post, copy the text you want and hit the QUOTE button on the Post A Reply screen and paste the text in the space between the quote tags.

[QUOTEDikiyoba never thought that Dikiyoba would miss seeing quotes like this. At least this is obvious that it's a quote.][/QUOTE]

Dikiyoba voted for divine retribution. Or RETRIBUTION!!!, if you prefer to spell it like that. Dikiyoba rather likes divine fire as well.

Edit: In all fairness, though, I was voting uninformed, since my party is still running around in the demo. At least they're making good use of their repel spirit in the mine. Can I get a ridiculously high level repel spirit wand instead?

Well, MagmaDragoon only made one mistake on each fix, as opposed to many. But since he opened the door:

quote:
FYT: Ok, thanks for advice and warning.
FYT: Ok, thanks for the advice and warning.

quote:
FYT: Sorry if I have spoke anything wrong, I'm not a good speller.

quote:
FTY: Witch series is better: Avernum or Geneforge?
FYT: Which series is better: Avernum or Geneforge?

quote:
Conclusion: :P :P :P
Fortunately, there is nothing in the conclusion for Dikiyoba to fix.

The series are so different from each other that I can't choose. They both have good points and some not-so-good points.

Dikiyoba can't even make a decision based on how many games of each Dikiyoba owns, since Dikiyoba owns two of each. Oh well.

Flute and bassoon. It's been a while since I played the bassoon, though.

Dikiyoba could also play the piano and the recorder if neccessary but has no desire to, so Dikiyoba didn't vote for them.

I rather wish more online accounts had a delete option. Sometimes, I'll sign up on an online game, realize I dislike it, and wish to delete my account, only to find that there's no option to.

If Dikiyoba were to die or get sick or wander off, then the Dikiscript would be deleted after sixty days of inactivity. That's why Dikiyoba keeps a hard copy of the script saved in two places and made the site Dikiyoba's home page.

Congratulations, Tyranicus. (oh yeah oh yeah oh yeah)

Aw, I can't see Archmage Alex's cartoon on this computer. I guess I'll have to wait until I get home to see it.

This post just brought Dikiyoba one post closer to creating Dikiyoba's own celebratory topic.

Agreed. Dikiyoba grumped about it earlier, but Dikiyoba got used to it eventually. Dikiyoba hasn't overstepped the boundrary for about two weeks. (Of course, that's only about two hours worth of playing time.)

People are stupid enough to call phone numbers they hear in songs and ask to speak with the person who was mentioned in the song, either seriously or as a prank. There are enough people who do this that anyone unlucky enough to have a identical phone number is generally forced to get a new number.

There really must be some way to get the people who keep tinkering with A4 to convert to BoA. There's plenty of people who want to mess around with scripts and such.

Perhaps we could get the tinkerers to write the Character Editor for A5 so that Jeff has more time to fix the bugs for BoA?

Dikiyoba refuses to be contacted by phone, so Dikiyoba doesn't currently have an answering machine message. However, should Dikiyoba ever change Dikiyoba's mind, it will either feature Dikiyoba talking in third person or Dikiyoba's rabid chipmunk/dolphin call. (Apparently, one call mimics two different animals.)

I actually recommend trying out each individually before ordering them. If you like them all, get the set. But if you only like one, then just get the one. There's quite a difference between A1 and A3 in terms of features.

Dikiyoba, for instance, only liked Avernum 2 well enough to buy.
