How many PC's do you play with? - Full party of six, unless scenario requires something different. How many scenarios have you played? - 13 Absolute favorite BoE scenario? - "Emulations". There are three that are so hard to call.... When did you get the registered version of BoE for the first time? - October 2006 What is the first third-party scenario you played? - "On a Ship to Algiers" Favorite all-around scenario designer? - Drizzt pretty much wins this by default, I haven't played multiple scenarios by any other designer save Alcritas. What is your favorite scenario icon? - The ship icon used for "Apology." If you could make one BoE scenario into a movie, which scenario would it be? - "Roots" What is your favorite spell? - Divine Thud What is your favorite item of all time? - What do you think is the absolute most overrated BoE scenario of all time? - "Redemption" What do you think is the absolute most underrated BoE scenario of all time? I've mostly only played 8+ scens so far, so this one goes to "Bandits"- beating out "Lamentations" and "A Little Girl". :D If you could fix one bug in BoE or the scenario editor, what would it be? - I suppose Emptys are annoying. What is your least favorite scenario out of those rated 7.0 or higher on CSR? - "Algiers", closely followed by "Redemption" Which scenario do you think is the worst ever? There's lots of horribles, but only one can be the absolute worst. - Of the candidates, I've only played "A Little Girl." That said, it sucked pretty bad. What is your favorite TM scenario? - NTH What is your favorite Creator scenario? - Haven't played any. What is your favorite scenario in the Spheres trilogy? - None, haven't played 'em. What is your favorite scenario in the Adventurer's Club trilogy? - Started AC1, but got tired of it before I left Independence Citt. So none. What is your favorite BoE fansite? - The Lyceum What do you think would happen if Alcritas returned to the Lyceum as an active member once more? - It'd be nice, but I'd only care if he made another scenario. And if said scenario was more like "Apology" and less like everything else he made. What scenario do you think should have won the first design contest? - Wow, I haven't played any of those scens, though I am in the middle of NG. It seems pretty good, so I'll go with that. Name one random scenario that has not been mentioned by anyone in this thread (first that comes in your head.) - "Lamentations" If TM returned, and he and Kel continued to argue, do you think that should continue, or do you think they just have to duke it out? - I think they need to either kiss and make up, or 'assemble their crews' and have a battle royale to just get it over with. -------------------- Guaranteed to blow your mind. Undead are generally poor because they are mindless monsters that exist merely to be re-killed by the adventurer. They don't need motivation to fight, so long as there is a pissed off necromancer(or demon, or vampire, or anybody else it seems) that has a bone to pick with a nearby town then undead are bound to be present. The other monsters you mentioned can have motivations and can be well developed. Did the villain trick the goblins into fighting? Are the centaurs ticked off because of a cultural misunderstanding? Who knows, but its pretty safe to say that if undead are being used then they are just being summoned by behind the scenes villain. Sure they can be good, the most cliched monster can be good and the most original can suck, it just often turns out that udnead are on the sucky end. -------------------- Guaranteed to blow your mind. Alternatively, you can use "Write Scenario Data to Text File" in the scenario editor to get a text document of all a scenarios items, terrains, floors, and creatures. This will cover the custom items in a scenario as well as the default ones, which is nice. -------------------- Guaranteed to blow your mind. Frostbite: Get It While It's...... Hot? Using set level on the party should be avoided unless you have a good reason, but it shouldn't give negative stats. Stupid BoA. By the way, combat was way skewed for me because of this, so I didn't comment on it much in my report. -------------------- Guaranteed to blow your mind. Frostbite: Get It While It's...... Hot? I'll take a look at it. I can't be sure how much I can help with the bugs until I see them. I do, however, have some ideas for game interface that it doesn't look like you're using. Emulations, Roots, and Apology are easily the best 3 of the scenarios I've played (Although Roots has crazy hard combat.) Outside of those, I'd also recommend Drizzt's trilogy. -------------------- Guaranteed to blow your mind. Frostbite: Get It While It's...... Hot? Read the things listed above, as well as Eric Westra's BoA Cookbook (hosted by Kelandon at his page) Once you know enough about scripting to understand what you're looking at you can open up some the scripts to see how things work. The prepackaged scenarios are a safe bet, since opening up a complex scenario like Canopy could just be confusing, and opening up a scenario by a poor or sloppy scripter (*cough* me *cough*) would most likely teach you poor scripting. -------------------- Guaranteed to blow your mind. quote:Well there really is no way a designer can require altering the graphics, theres no way to check if the player actually changed them or not. So basically a designer can "suggest" that a player changes the graphcis, but can't "require" that they do so. Seems silly. -------------------- Guaranteed to blow your mind. On a Windows the PC graphics are in the data file, in the folder "Art Graphics". I'd add that the Louvre has some graphics that are meant to be used as PC's, so checking that out might save you some time. And what exactly is Spiderweb's 'no modifying default graphics' rule? Why does Jeff choose to do this, and what is the exact restriction. LP has new PC graphics, but its hosted by Spidweb. -------------------- Guaranteed to blow your mind. I've been listening to Audioslave, Jimi Hendrix, Nirvana, and of course Led Zeppelin. To be even more specific, I was listening to "Dandelion" and "When the Levee Breaks" in the time it took to write this. Read and come to better understand my twisted mind (Ok its not that deep, just read it because it looks like pork.) When was the last time that: You showered? Last night. You lost your cell phone? Where? I left it in the car the other week. I tore the house apart looking for it and was late to work in the process. At least I was happy when I got in the car and found it. You lost your keys? Locked them somewhere? Never. You cut your hair? Back around when school started, so late August I guess. You overslept? I used to sleep until noon in the summer. I never was late because of it, but it annoyed me since I lost an entire day. Current: Mode of transportation? Car Book you are reading? 'All the Kings Men' and 'Hamlet'- both for school. Model of cell phone? I just know its a Nokia. Jewlery you are wearing? Don't wear jewelry. Game you are playing? BoX, what else? Fav: Cartoon? you can include cartoons that you used to like Calvin and Hobbes for paper, Ren and Stimpy for TV Baseball team? I don't follow baseball, but if the Marlins make the World Series I start rooting for them. Location? My bedroom. SW oldbie Anybody still designing for Blades. SW newbie? Myself? Tyra? Lenar? Have you ever? Stalked someone? No Been in love? If I was I'm not anymore. Missed TM? All the time. Gotten lost? I'm horrible with directions, I always get lost. Thrown a pie at someone? I wish. Random First quote that pops into your head? "I've had a perfectly wonderful evening. But this wasn't it." - Groucho Marx Name a red object in your room My shirt and a Tamba Bay Buccaneers pennant (Who I don't even like) If you could remove a person from history, who would it be? So many scumbags to choose from..... If you could call someone a 'best friend', who would that be? Franco? Brian? Hard to call. -------------------- Guaranteed to blow your mind. -X-: in your 14 posts today I have yet to see a useful contribution. Saying "This is a nice arguement" isn't necessary. And if you're really as obsessed with Diki's fanfic as you're making out to be, then keep it to that thread. (Ok, back on topic a bit. I agree with Thuryl and co., Stalker isn't a great villain, but he's reasonably well developed and probably deserving of a top 5 spot.) -------------------- Guaranteed to blow your mind.
