My level 22 party has 5 total nature lore. I really don't bother with the skill, those 5 levels is all from my mage/priest, who gets nature lore from her high inteligence. That is kind of an older party, my new format has 2 casters, and thus has higher intelligence and higher nature lore. Unfortunately I don't have a save file with this party before level 40. -------------------- Guaranteed to blow your mind. Frostbite: Get It While It's...... Hot? That is correct, although as always you'd need a ; at the end of it when you place it in the actual script. -------------------- Guaranteed to blow your mind. Frostbite: Get It While It's...... Hot? Posts: 900 | Registered: Monday, August 8 2005 07:00 |

The correct format for set level is, set_level(short which_char,short what_level) In other words, you need another number in there. -------------------- Guaranteed to blow your mind. Frostbite: Get It While It's...... Hot? Posts: 900 | Registered: Monday, August 8 2005 07:00 |

Last year I got hit pretty bad by one of the hurricanes. It was quite loud and windy during the night, when we woke the next morning the power was out, and we found that the banging noise we heard at night was the screen room getting ripped away. Half of it was lying in the pool, the rest was scattered across the neighborhood. Pretty much everyone where I live needed a new roof, and trees and fences were down all over the place. About a week later we got our power back for half an hour. Then they switched it back off and the entire neighborhood was going door to door "Did your power flick on and off too? Wow this sucks, what's happening?" They quit messing with us about 5 hours later, when we got the power back for good. -------------------- Guaranteed to blow your mind. Well this is what I came up with. I'm probably overlooking something. Spoilers. 1/3 of the time you'll pick the correct door on your first try. The host will eliminate one of the two other doors at random since both are incorrect, which one he chooses is irrelevant. If you stick with your first choice you win. Change and you lose. 2/3 of the time you'll pick incorrectly on your first try. The host will have 2 doors left, one with a prize and one with nothing. He'll have to open the remaining prizeless door in order to keep the game going, and make sure you have a shot in round 2. This leaves you with your original choice(nothing) and what the host left for you (Jackpot). If you stick with your first choice you lose. Change and you win. The second scenario happens 2/3 of the time, so you're better off changing. This assumes that the host behaves in the way I wrote, instead of choosing at random. It also assumes that I didn't overlook something. -------------------- Guaranteed to blow your mind. Frostbite: Get It While It's...... Hot? Posts: 900 | Registered: Monday, August 8 2005 07:00 |

They had to pepper spray a squirrel to "subdue it"? How big was this thing? I'm not surprised to hear about squirrels attacking someone. Once my family visitted this garden with lots of squirrels (forgot the name, it was a while ago). At the entrance you could buy bags of peanuts to feed to them, so these squirrels had been observing people and plotting against them for quite some time. If the squirrels saw you with peanuts they wouldn't leave you alone. I have a hilarious video of squirrels running up my mom's leg, and others running to the stroller I was in (yeah it was a long time ago). It was only a matter of time before they advanced to biting. I'd advise that everyone carries a riot club and shield when walking in the park, evidently pepper spray won't stop them. -------------------- Guaranteed to blow your mind. You need to uncompress the files. They come that way to make them quicker to download. Try using winzip or stuffit to extract them so you can play them. Edit: Welcome to the boards, and I hope you enjoy BOA as well. [ Friday, August 11, 2006 14:56: Message edited by: Lazarus. ] -------------------- Guaranteed to blow your mind. The problem is my fault. I didn't write a message dialog correctly (actually I just wrote a text string with nothing telling BOA what to do with it, whoops). You can either open up t8tower2, go to line 210 and replace it with message_dialog("Where are you going? You need to block up the remaining windows first.",""); Or you could just complete the puzzle by pushing the remaining block in front of a window. This particular error went unnoticed because I never tried to skip over the puzzle like that. In order to truly complete it you must have a block in front of each window.[ Wednesday, August 09, 2006 05:57: Message edited by: Lazarus. ] -------------------- Guaranteed to blow your mind. You need to read the other rows of bookshelves in Smolt. When you get a dialog along the lines of, "You take a few books to show to someone at the Academy" then you've got what you need. I made it this way so that you can't advance when you aren't ready yet. If you had gotten to the last dungeon with out picking up those books, you would be very angry, and have no idea where to look. -------------------- Guaranteed to blow your mind. If I like a movie I'll sometimes read the book to see what it really came from. It isn't always redundant, for example the Jason Bourne movies/books were significantly different. I liked the books more at first, but by the third book I got tired of them. -------------------- Guaranteed to blow your mind. Frostbite: Get It While It's...... Hot? Well Jeff finally updated the scenario tables. Dilecia and A Good Beginning are both under Untried and Untested. Proving Grounds somehow scored a 3.3 and made the Scenarios Table(I can't imagine even Slack's mother scoring it that high, but I digress). Congrats to Smoo as well, as MoC is now on the Quality Scenarios Table scoring a lofty 4.7 (I've been reading all of its reviews trying to find mine, I seem to remember writing one although none are jumping out at me). I'm not sure if any of the newer versions of DoK or BWC were added, as I don't follow the version numbers on the Tables, Ephesos or Smoo would have to check it out. Good timing, I was just preparing to do some gentle prodding when he updated it. As a matter of fact I had an e-mail already written, and had actually sent it on Sunday. Yahoo wouldn't send it, and the message was lost. After much swearing at yahoo I decided to let Jeff take his sweet time; I'm not sure if someone else e-mailed him or if things worked out on their own. -------------------- Guaranteed to blow your mind. My web browser doesn't seem to like that page, something about all the pictures. I couldn't read past the first paragraph, but obviously the whole thing was a joke. But even if it was serious it shouldn't merit its own thread. Well if you're going to follow this up with the "digging" code, not just show the messages, then my way is going to be too much trouble. Well if they start out at a higher level than your regular PC's then they would gain less exp, even if it was just because of their higher level, not the fact that they were the recruited type and joined you later in the game. I guess eventually your regular PC's would catch up in level, and then everyone would gain exp at the same rate. -------------------- Guaranteed to blow your mind. Frostbite: Get It While It's...... Dintiradan's idea sounds very interesting as something that could be used in BOA. Its a shame that it couldn't be used for joined NPCs. -------------------- Guaranteed to blow your mind. Frostbite: Get It While It's...... Hot? Posts: 900 | Registered: Monday, August 8 2005 07:00 |

This thread has motivated me to put together the pictures I promised in the ReadMe. If you go to my site you can now find pictures of each step of all the puzzles. However, I'd recommend that you only use it as a last resort. First go through suficient head banging and tearing of hair, its much more satisfying that way :) -------------------- Guaranteed to blow your mind. Frostbite: Get It While It's...... Hot? Well its hard for me to offer advice, since I don't have a Mac. But I know that the cmg file is there. For some reason there are 2 of them, an (empty) one in the scenario folder with most of the scripts, another one in a seperate folder with a file called .ds_store. I'm not sure what this file is for or why the seperate folder is necessary, but I've seen it in other Mac scenarios so I think Ephesos did it deliberately. Maybe you'll have better luck if you take the .cmg file from there and put it into the scenario folder with all the scripts? Perhaps another Mac user could comment on whether anything I've said approaches reasonability, or if I'm just talking nonsense. -------------------- Guaranteed to blow your mind. Well generally if I'm using charcoal and am having trouble lighting it I just squirt some lighter fluid on and give it another go. If its windy I'll try to keep the wind off of it until it gets going. I just use matches, I'm not so sure about using gasoline in a grill, sounds like a recipe for injuries. Newspaper makes an awful nasty smoke (I suppose if it all burned off before you started cooking....) But yeah, it can be a pain. As for my preferred method of cooking, some people swear by hickory and other things to flavor the meat, I just have a gas grill. -------------------- Guaranteed to blow your mind. Well the infinite arrow is cool, you can find it in junk shops occasionally. An infinite arrow and Archer's Bow are both very light, so it leaves your archer with plenty of weight to carry armor and other stuff. Magic arrows are a bit expensive at first, but by the middle of the game you'll reach the gold limit and have plenty to blow on magic items. But for the most powerful bow you'll need the Fury Crossbow (its an artifact, so you know its gonna be a pain to get it.) Still, even with the fury crossbow and magic bolts I found archery to be too weak. I like using poisons on both melee and archer characters. Very few monsters are resistant to it, and killer poisons pack quite a punch. I almost cried when I realized there would be no poisons in Avernum :) -------------------- Guaranteed to blow your mind.
