Now that my first scenario, Where the Rivers Meet, is about to be released (I'd say another week till its release), I already started with my second scenario. The plot has been lined out, several towns and outdoor sections already have been designed.

However, i stumbled on a small problem: what is the nature lore of your 20 - 25 level party? This would be a very important thing in my scenario. As I want to keep it fair for all people, high and low levels, I want to see what you guys' levels are.

So: what is your level 20-25 party's nature lore level?

Thanks in advance.

Level-6 party: 6

Pariah (level 43: 5
Level-50 party: 14

Highest member counts, rather than total, I think.

Whatever level is needed to pick all the herbs in the swamps of A Small Rebellion.

If you require high nature lore is for a necessary part of the plot, you could always include a magical item or two that boosts nature lore.

No, you won't need a specifically high amount of nature lore for this specific thing in the scenario. For what it is, I can't discuss, it is to remain a secret.

For the ones who already told me their nature lore level, thanks. However, I will still need some more, at least 12 people, to tell it to me. That way i can make a more fair estimation of general levels.

Actually, that depends entirely on how the designer chooses to count it. :P

As far as I'm aware, Jeff's scenarios always check the total.

Anyway, I make a new HLPM party for every scenario, so my party doesn't usually have any Nature Lore at all unless I expect to need it in the scenario I'm playing.

I try to get to 8 per PC ASAP because I like Pathfinder. In my level 23 party (the only one I have near your guides), it was at a total of 22.

By the way, these are all the levels of the character that has it at his highest, right? Total won't do much good, as a character with a lower level won't be able to find what the other, with a slightly higher level, won't be able to find.

My level 22 party has 5 total nature lore. I really don't bother with the skill, those 5 levels is all from my mage/priest, who gets nature lore from her high inteligence.

That is kind of an older party, my new format has 2 casters, and thus has higher intelligence and higher nature lore. Unfortunately I don't have a save file with this party before level 40.

Well, if you only want it for the highest individual, then my nature lore is probably only four or five.

In general, nature lore has been taken cumulatively so that no one PC has to "waste" so many skill points on it. It is way too costly to specialize in nature lore, in my opinion, and I doubt many people do. But then again, the HLPM solves many little problems like these.

Can be, I doin't really care. I just want to know what the highest level of nature lore is in your party (not the total of all nature lore levels).

I think that will be enough. Thanks to all of you, you have been an immense help.

If you still want to tell me the nature lore of your party ( the highest level of one character), then you are welcome. The more the better. In the end, its you I'm making the scenario for, and its you in this case that can make the scenario nicer, more fun, and more fair to play.

So, thanks again, and for anybody still posting, thank you, too.

I know that this point has been made before, but it's probably a good idea to check the total Nature Lore in the party, not the Nature Lore on the highest member. That's been standard in all the Avernums, and it wouldn't do to change it without a really good, specific reason.

Yes, that's something which i don't understand. How can a party member who is less skilled in naturelore, still be able to contribute to finding certain very specific things, if the party member with the highest nature lore can't find it?

Maybe their skills lie in different areas. Your fighter with a NL of 2 may be an expert on berries and know nothing else. Your mage with a NL of 8 may know every rock and tree in the caves, but he may not know anything about berries. Between the two of them, they can identify more than they could separately.

Besides, it's usually good not to change the way that skills work unless you're intending a specific effect, and it doesn't sound as though you are.

Ah, if that is the way you are looking at it, then you are certainly right. I saw it differently: They all know the same, although one knows more about it than the others, if you get what I mean.

Right now I don't see what is best. maybe if some people could give their oppinion about this matter? it would be appreciated.

Besides, even if they were to have knowledge in the same general area, one person might catch what another person would miss, so their collective ability would be higher than their individual abilities.

Dikiyoba wants you to check for total nature lore, please.

For game-mechanical reasons, you should go for the standard option of checking the total party nature lore. The game's documentation actually advises players to spread their nature lore out among party members, so that's what most players will do. It's unfair to punish them for doing that.
