Playing a survival VR mission in Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance as Metal Gear 1 Solid Snake. You were given little ammo for your guns and enemies could deflect your bullets. Some foes carried shotguns that killed you in one hit. Never did beat that mission. Real intense fighting, but the end boss killed me in the end. -------------------- "Truly, if there is evil in this world, it lies in the heart of mankind." -Edward D. When I was in high school, just about every student had a TI graphing calculator, usually TI-83 Plus. It was pretty much a necessity, especially when you're taking classes involving a lot of complex math. (physics, calculus, etc...) Like most people, I just download equation programs from some friends who were math freaks. (using that link up) Made calculus so much easier... -------------------- "Truly, if there is evil in this world, it lies in the heart of mankind." -Edward D. Though people are looting food and water, they really shouldn't be arrested for it. I know it's a crime to do such things, but those people have nothing to eat and drink and they're just doing whatever they can to just keep their families alive. It's sort of a mixed feeling. I have read so many articles on this whole disaster and just about every news channel I turn on, it talks about how fast it's falling apart near the New Orleans area and surrounding areas affected by Katrina. It's sad to see so many people suffer from a disaster that they're not responsible for. The Superdome has stenches of human urine and feces that becomes unbearable for anyone. There are dead people outside of the dome and babies sleeping on human urine. People can't use any power or any kind of indoor plumbing whatsoever. They are forced to live uncivilized, like animals. It truly is the greatest disaster that the United States has faced since 9/11. Although 9/11 was terrible in its own right, Hurricane Katrina affected a greater amount of damage. Not only did people lose their homes, they have forever lost their way of life as well. May God be with them... -------------------- "Truly, if there is evil in this world, it lies in the heart of mankind." -Edward D. Morrison Posts: 220 | Registered: Monday, July 11 2005 07:00 |

I really don't think they'll be planning on trying to rebuilt New Orleans, as it was below sea level and all. That city had a lot of tradition and it's sad to see it literally become just a faded memory in the sands of time... I was planning on going to New Orleans too during spring break (for obvious reasons that would be too inappropriate to mention here). Oh well. Time to plan ahead to another vacation spot. That poll isn't very specific and is quite vague, in terms of what "America" is. I have yet to find someone that lives close to me that has actually liked playing SW games. I let a couple of my friends try out Avernum 2 last year and they commented that it looks like (obscene profanity not mentioned for CoC reasons) and that it had no music during gameplay. I personally like just about all the SW games and I'm quite surprised that some people who play SW games actually dislike it so much. Just because a game doesn't have top notch graphics and music doesn't make it bad. It was the gameplay and 30 second learning curve that made them so fun to play over and over. -------------------- "Truly, if there is evil in this world, it lies in the heart of mankind." -Edward D. If the magic system is "vasty" improved, would there be a good mix of the current Avernum spells and new spells, or just a completely new format of spells? Or is it just the same Avernum spells with new sounds and animations to them? I just play through the demos to see if they're any good, and they almost always are. (For some reason, I didn't get enough interest to play through the whole GF 3 demo) I've played all the Exile games, but my first SW games are and always will be the Avernum games, though Exile appears to be the dominant favorite among members here. I pretty much only register all the Avernum games and play the GF, Nethergate and Exile demos from time to time in cases of extreme boredom. -------------------- "Truly, if there is evil in this world, it lies in the heart of mankind." -Edward D. Wow. Wikipedia updates curent events pretty fast. I hear that well over 100 people have been killed by Hurricane Katrina and most likely that number would get much higher. I also offer condolences to all those affected by the huuricane. I have a college friend who goes to Xavier in New Orleans and I hope to get a call back from her soon to see if she's okay. Now, if Katrina were a Category 5 hurricane and it made a direct hit to New Orleans...don't even want to think how much worse that would be... -------------------- "Truly, if there is evil in this world, it lies in the heart of mankind." -Edward D. Good points you made Zeviz with getting help from the professors directly during their office hours and all. Talking about things you do not understand directly to the professor is something that, I admit, I do not take advantage of. Now that you brought that up, I think I'll start taking advantage of it. Individual attention beats any class size as you're the focal point of Q&A. -------------------- "Truly, if there is evil in this world, it lies in the heart of mankind." -Edward D. I really must get into the habit of clarifing myself more often. I know that not all smaller classroom settings lead to teachers having a bigger concern for you, I mean that the percentage of teachers caring for you in that particular setting is increased (for some, not all). This is purely by my personal experience and is obviously varied between people. I have taken one lecture room setting during the spring semester with around 250 students (organic chemistry, which was difficult) and the professor didn't care less on who you were. I also took an honor class with about 10 students (an advanced college english course) and the professor cared for us a whole lot more and actually accepted open discussions and questions. (that's actually a shock for me as a lot of my high school teachers never really opened up for Q&A that often) -------------------- "Truly, if there is evil in this world, it lies in the heart of mankind." -Edward D. Traditional classrooms are better actually. My college classes are about 15-20 students. School itself gives the best experience if you have good teachers who actually care for your learning and they try to help you the best they can. This thread is indeed a good one to open up to since a lot of us can pretty much relate to this in almost a daily setting. -------------------- "Truly, if there is evil in this world, it lies in the heart of mankind." -Edward D. Perhaps the best part about college is freedom. In high school, students are typically stuck in a classroom with no power to simply walk out, unless they had a good reason for it. In college, you can walk out of class and no one would care. As long as you somehow get and learn the material required for class, you can miss most of the days of a class and just show up on test days and ace everything if you were good enough. Of course, only some college classes would let you do that. There are other classes that require "homework", "attendance", or "class participation". I like the general format of a lot of college classes, just being graded on tests and nothing else. It's more simplistic. Edit: I just follow the format of taking 2 classes on MWF and another 2 classes on TR. It's relatively balanced and all are in the morning to mid afternoon. Edit 2: Do many of you college members attend lecture room style classrooms (meaning around 100+ students in a room) or the traditional classrooms? (meaning around 10-25 students) Just curious. I also realize that I edit more than I post...sad... The top area of this thread board has some scripts to download that make one of the signs at South End turn into some kind of character editor. If you're desperate for money, just download those scripts and replace the old ones, and just get to the South End sign to activate some instant gamer-made cheats. Word of caution, back up the old scripts before putting in the new ones in your GF3 Scripts folder. Well, I've read through more of the RWG section, but it all seems quite confusing. I mean, does RW really exist now? One thread had a FAQ of RW and I see a long string of locked topics, 7 at one point, with pointless topics mentioning about the food SPAM and BORK. The board barely even talks about RW games, rather theories of who RW really is and what his purpose was. (I think...) Well, since I barely know enough members on this board, and Morgan claims to be the best, then I guess I'll take his word (unless it's really a she) for it. Edit Post Comment: If Zuul is Richard White, then RW is that Gozarian purple thing from Ghostbusters?
