Good question. Alas, I believe that no one can answer the question of people's "roles" that they are either forced into or "groomed" for. If you believe in words like "luck", "fate", and "destiny", there could be some kind of vague explaination, but I personally cannot come up with one.

My only guess is that even though there are people that work their lives off to attain "prestidge" or any kind of position or role they want, they're not social abnormalities, rather that they're "unlucky" per se, to become successful. Maybe it's their destiny to fail, although that sounds wrong on many levels.

It's just a matter of who gets the opportunities in life at the right moment and the connections that people have within their social networks.

For example, people with larger friend networks that offer higher occupational statuses tend to get "off slightly easier" in terms of job requirements or specifications. If you're a virtural nobody, that position is harder to obtain, so more work is required to reach it.

This probably is a poor example, but it's the best I can think of right now. Again, there is no definite answer. It's pretty much a wide-open opinion.

The sad fact about all of this is that the so-called theory of "sins" is probably what keeps humans motivated to do other things better or worse. I think it's just a fact of life.

I do agree with all of your points Thuryl; I'm just wondering if you think humanity would change for the better or worse for itself in the long run.

What new video game system, if you plan on buying them, would you probably purchase?

Microsoft's XBOX 360 coming this fall (I think November)?

Sony's Playstation 3 coming March 3, 2006?

Or the Nintendo Revolution (whenever it comes out)?

Perhaps you care not for these systems, so what games coming out soon (meaning fall, winter, etc...) are you most anticipating for?

For me, I'd probably not buy any of the 3 systems as they're out of my price range (college students aren't that rich) so I'm aiming on getting Castlevania: Curse of Darkness or Final Fantasy XII (I think it comes out March 2, 2006)

Wow! That's almost like what...260/24 = about 10.83 days or roughly 11 days.

So this is just a normal person, right? This person didn't take any medications of excesive caffine to stay awake?

It seems that the poll results end up between 6-8 hours, which is about right. I get around seven hours of sleep on a good night. If I don't feel sleepy, around 4-5 hours.

I wonder what's the world record for a person to stay awake...

Um...interesting song. Well, if people want to express how they want to spend a billion dollars in a song, that's fine with me.

Quite creative I think.

Hmm...I wasn't expecting one of my comments to spark a topic discussion, but oh well.

Now I thought "natural selection" was biological and not controlled by outside influences. Animals for instance, adapt to nature over a LONG period of time to changes of their surroundings. I could be wrong, but that's what I remember in my sociology class.

We are all "social beings", even though we could be anti-social towards each other. It is the mere fact that we work together with other people and "communicate" that we are "social beings".

The distribuion of resources, usually controlled by the influence of "politics", since politics is literally who gets what in a society; whether it's right or wrong, who knows, is really unevenly balanced. Hence, our 3 major social classes of lower, middle and upper.

Do people of a lower social hierarchy really want to be in that upper class? Of course they do, but the upper class has to control to the lower hierarchies, so they do not lose their control of influence of power. Thus, greed is born. We all want more out of life, unless you're one of those people that want to fulfill enlightenment rather than materialistic goods.

Anyways, that's just the basic point I wanted to hit on, to analyze how the basic forms of greed are created, social hierarchy differences.

Truth be told, now that I thought about it, money can't buy everything. Love can be bribed, but never enchanted into true love. Money in some ways can buy power, but not all power.

In fact, if you really had a billion dollars in real life, there'd be no "underdog" acheivement or status to obtain as everything that can be reached is bought or bribed upon.

Life would be like...an empty void full of materistic goods, less the values and appreciations of life.

There are some people out there that enjoy life without any money or any materisitc goods at all whatsoever.

Rather, they fulfill the enlightenment of life itself, rather than extract the "pop culture" goods associated with life.

It's just the bugs that get you stuck in certain areas of towns and maps that forces you to reload is what makes the experience frustrating.

The scenairo isn't bad as a whole, but it needs serious work, especially in plot development, as you're clueless on where to go half the time.

More than likely, the scenairo designer would release a new bug free patch in the near future, since a lot of people who have or are playing this scenairo would have similar complaints about the bugs.

Speaking of that mine, I'm stuck at that part too.

Oh, does anyone know the point of the Naga lair with the mirrors and all?

I gave that Drake that Toy Bat and got some boat, that had no relative use in the plot, as I got stuck in a 4 space river.

Hmm...that might make a good topic thread. Is there any one way to supress human sins, such as pride and greed?

Theoretically, there is a little sin in all of us, no matter how deep the circumstances may or may not be for a situation.

I just made up the poll for fun. I know that people normally don't spend that much time on RPGs. At most for me, it's about 1-2 hours on a good day.

Of course, I did know a person in high school a few years ago who once played one of those dot Hack mutation (I think it's a Anime game) for like 16 hours straight, only stopping to use the bathroom.

If someone really did answer that 12+ hour selection, I'd be really surprised. That person probably has an enormous amount of free time or has a ridculiously high obsession for RPGs that it becomes their life.

If you had a billion+ dollars, what would you buy or do with your life?

I'm just curious to know on what people would do with such money.

Me personally, I'd just buy my own island and just relax for the rest of my life. Nothing more.

I see you have a lot of favorite RPG games. Wasn't expecting a list, but it seems that about half of those games appear to be FF games.

FF games pretty much are the "popular" and "RPG of choice" for a lot of gamers. I have nothing against FF games, in fact, I love the majority of them...especially FF VII, well minus it's outdated graphics.

I'm surprised that no one mentioned any Dragon Warrior/Dragon Quest games. I guess it's cuz the gameplay in those games were all outdated and evey command had to be manually executed. They are the supposed "father of RPGs"...or was it Dungeons & Dragons? I dunno.

Okay, I just started out the "A Large Rebellion" scenairo and I talked to some Orge who said to meet him by the docks. I did that and I got a message saying that there was "...ERROR: Missing line 90..." The scene never activated and my computer crashed. I downloaded this scenairo for the Mac, so maybe someone has experienced this problem as well?

I'm guessing this bug only occurs for Macs and not Windows, hence this scenairo is the only one not rated yet.

Also, when you get the orb unlocked by the Naga, where do you go next? The Naga's lair? If it's the Naga's lair, how do you solve the laser/mirror puzzle?

Since you mean any status effects, so I could poison myself on purpose (with a poison potion) and she'd begin to lose health from the poison (by stealing the effect of the poison)?

I mean, that's the only thing I could think of to beat her, giving myself negative status effects so she'd absorb them, unless you mean that you defeat her by the constant use of status effects.

Lufia 2 was the prequel to Lufia 1, right? Cuz I played Lufia 1 one time and it started out in the final fortress of Lufia 2.

Oh and I think they made a Lufia game for GBC and GBA as well.

Okay, I'm kinda new around here and I bet this probably has been done too many times, but what's your favorite RPG series? I like the Final Fantasy and Chrono RPG games.

Oh, and has anyone ever heard or played an old RPG series called Lufia by any chance?

The part where you fight the illusion of your sister, Chikrta or some name close to that, how do you beat the illusion? I think it's in the Nephil Fortress, after that one bladesman guy died...
