I think you'll find that in countries where there is an age limit for anything that it is being broken on a regular basis. The basis of governmental prohibition is that the activity is something that is being done already, and a group of people (usually a minority position) wants it banned for religious or ideological reasons. I'm not (hopefully) implying that this is a bad thing, as some of those minority positions are correct and will eventually become the majority. *this message contains both the wiffle and the waffle* Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

You basically have 14 days to make your way in a northerly direction to the Fort that needs the wands. There are a bunch of dungeons/quests on the way, which you can ignore or partake in. A word of advice, maintain several save files, as you may decide to go back several steps in order to avoid doing something that you later regret. *this message sponsored by boats and the undead* -------------------- quote: Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

With the narrowing of the nulls, I have noticed that I have somehow become a candidate in this polling procedure. I assure you that this is an error, unless I was somehow nominated without my knowledge. If that is the case, I thank that person and humbly withdraw. If this is in fact an error, please correct it. It is far more pleasant to be without the burdens of responsibility when visiting these fora. Edit : Yes, other than some spam, my sole contribution to the candidacy thread was on page 1, reading quote:*this message sponsored by the denominate jumpin' smoked sushi PAC* [ Wednesday, June 29, 2005 11:11: Message edited by: Jumpin' Salmon ] Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

Is there a purpose to this other than filling up time before the elections? Or is this a CNN/Gallup/Alec poll designed to show undecided voters how to best participate? Anyhow, as I asked to be able to vote 3 times, here are my votes (do as you will with them.) You may have bought the right to go get them, but haven't done that yet. they aren't in the bedroom though. Check the detached shack to the southwest. If you had searched before it said something like 'you will never find anything in here without knowing what too look for.' Well, you will find the papers in that room inside a chest or barrel. *this message sponsored by weak dialogue and poor descriptions* -------------------- quote: Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

Without talking about quality, Cuban nationals receive medical care for free, for life. The meat issue is another instance of equal sharing of resources. But I really know nothing of Cuba, or the politics there, except that it is a typical, stable Caribbean island. Dictatorships are not always a bad thing, it really depends on the natural resources of the country. Ranble. Teddy Roosevelt was a great and visionary president, and he served at a time of expansionism (intracontinental). *this message supported by hot air and not much else* Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

It figures that gangsta boy would fess up to the movie gag. We have a nice little trick with temptation in these parts that so far has failed to get any takers. During hunting season it is great fun to park my truck at the end of a logging road, unlocked, with assorted goodies inside. Invariably someone comes around looking for a good hunting spot, and walks around my truck looking inside. Then they look up and glance around at the woods surrounding them and walk away. Maybe it was the flash of the scope that spooks them, but I prefer to think that they were merely checking on my welfare, and not seeing me in the truck decided to leave and go hunt somewhere else. It's always a good rule of thumb to assume that your theft is being watched. *this message sponsored 180 grains at 2300 fps* Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

Yeah, my weak attempt at hacker-speak should have been the clue to all that it was all tongue in cheek. And for my next suggestion... There would be no piracy, theft, murder, ponzi schemes, etc. if only parents would teach their children respect. It's all the parents fault. *this message supported by the fence, honoring those on both sides* Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

As far as I can tell, the poll does not ask a voter to exclude themselves if they haven't played BoE. Furthermore, the requirement that a scenario be rated at 8.0 or above is curious to me, as there are 2 rating systems and it wasn't spelled out where one could find the ratings. So, is it still that odd that Alcritas gets left out? I actually didn't bother with looking for ratings, I used my own sense of the value of each BoA designers work. So, there you have it. *this message sponsored by the ban TM during the elections PAC* -------------------- quote: Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

Like Drake, it was back in the mid 90's that I found E1 on a shareware disk. Played the demo until I broke it, then several years later tried it again and then downloaded E3 and bought it. Then a long darkness fell upon the land until about 2 years ago, when I checked out the website again began the download frenzy. *this message sponsored by the color blue and the emotion happy* Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

Being anti-society and borderline pathological, I have found that my reactions toward my culture have to focus more on yogurt and less on the freaks with whom I share this region of the planet. Otherwise the self-appointed persons of authority may wise up to me and place me in more confining quarters. So yes, I guess I am happy having been born into a culture that allows such rage against itself to go unchecked for so long. *this message is the bicentennial celebration of the first message* Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

The Resident Evil and Tomb Raider movies work because of curves. I don't remember their names, but the gals that play major roles in those flicks have a certain air about them that attracts people with $8 and little sense to the theatres. Is that how Jeff would want Avernum to get on the big screen? I can see Avernum, the animated series, on television though. I mean, pretty much anything can get on cartoon network. *this message has been approved by the family guy* Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

Jeff and others could easily make it happen by having a sub in the program check for an open internet connection. If it's there, it could send Jeff the results of search for his games on that pc. Probably also send the email identities found on the pc. His server then compares that information against his database of known purchasers and if something is wrong it could flash that info back to the client computer which would then warn the user of the piracy and unregister the programs for him. Would that work? I mean, other than the total invasion of privacy which would drive the ACLU nuts. *this message sponsored by UnC13 Cr4cK3r* Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

Yeah, you got it right. Although my Norton Firewall just registers the product and gets the gibberish back and puts it somewhere automatically. I just walked away (dialup) and let it download the 6Mb update. I have also heard of keygens screwing legitimate purchasers. The answer to that one is that someone, somewhere in the supply chain copied down a whole bunch of legitmate serial numbers and supplied them to the internet trolls. i lost some packaging for quickbooks99 and intuit was (and is) no help for reinstallation, so i went online and got codes. simple. and i had bought the software, tried communicating with the company, so i felt that i was on the higher moral ground, even though it still created this false demand for the illegal product being hawked on the internet. since then of course intuit has made me upgrade 3 times in order to keep "up to date with changing tax codes" or some wonk. anyhow, jeffs way is nice and simple, and like Alo says, he probably loses <100 registrations a year, but still $3000! Yo Jeff! Try out the web reg thingy. Maybe that will be better! Especially since you tie it with email addresses... *this message sponsored by bed and the many joys found therein* Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |
