I predict that Synergy continues editing posts rather than creating new ones in order to stick around just a little bit longer. Now, what do I win? :P -------------------- quote: Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

Say what you will about American politics, at least it is never boring. With Bush entering his injured mallard years, the hunt is on for eligible candidates for the next travesty. The Boston Globe tends to lead the editorial pack, especially since many presidential candidates hail from that state. This editorial talks about the front runner Republican candidates and brings up something near and dear to our hearts. Religion. Would you vote or not vote for a President based on religion? Discuss. -------------------- quote: Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

This was not a new law. I don't happen to agree with the law, but it is the will of the Austrian government. The guy is an idiot for visiting a foriegn country in which there is a standing wawrrant for his arrest. Did he think that suddenly they would realize what a horrible mistake they had made and reverse the law? Idjit. Of course with a sentence of 3 years, including time served, he should be out and writing books again in 18 months. That should make that gal happy, since her income appears to come from books that debunk his books. Tidy. -------------------- quote: Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

First of all I'm astonished that anyone read that. In our local radio market there are about 40 or so stations in FM mode. There seems to be a balance of musical genres, for instance there are always 3-5 "hip-hop 16-24y.o." stations. Recently there has been an increase in Christian radio format stations. This led to the death of the only 50's music station in the area. It was low demand, and a business decision was made. I'm not really into radio, living in the sticks I only seem to get about 5 stations, and I prefer public broadcasting. But from what I've read/heard, a lot of radio in the USA is now satellite broadcast to the local stations for re-broadcast. This used to be Casey Kasem or Westwood One productions (Weird Al hour) but now it seems pervasive. Some suit in NYC is dictating a playlist, including frequency each song gets on the air, when it is on the air, and when it is pulled from rotation. I guess that is what I meant. It doesn't really affect me personally, other than her car radio confuses me and I have a hard time navigating from AM to FM and then to the right FM station. It probably just boils down to being a technoob, and wanting to place the blame on some faceless and nameless entity living 2000 miles away. :) -------------------- quote: Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

Sorry about the slavery bit there, it just ticks me off when someone automatically equates it with racism. Thralni? Deep breaths, simmah down. It isn't worth having an "intelectual crap" for you to enter a debate between a player and designer of a scenario. -------------------- quote: Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

Jeff could make money by turning this into a subscription service. Not all of it mind you, but this. Ever since the movie JackAss was released I've found it ever so amusing to see people running full tilt into brick walls. I'm against commercial radio because a format change made my girlfriend mad. Now she needs to go to AM to get her fix. Nothing against paid advertisements on the radio, even if they last 1/2 hour. Just tell me upfront and at the end. The music is music and I'm likely to not appreciate 90% of it no matter which channel I'm tuned in to. But there is no excuse for 97.1 "The Fish." Slavery was prevelent in pre-colonial Africa. European merchants took advantage of this and purchased trade items (Africans) from other Africans. Seeing a good solid buyer, coastal African leaders began extracting as much of this resource as they could from the inner parts of Africa. This was not racist. European conviction that non-Europeans were sub-human, and couldn't own property, created racism from slavery. They are definitely different things, although one begat the other. -------------------- quote: Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

Thousands. He was arguably the best baseball player to ever not win a World Series. Detroit fans might have an argument. All the info was gathered from wikipedia, my mostest favoritest place to get useless information. Aside from World War 2, when he was a marine fighter pilot, he played 21 seasons in the majors, all with the Red Sox, and his lifetime average was .344 (2,292 games and 7,706 at bats). His career was cut short by the Korean War, when he re-entered the service to shoot more stuff. Eight at bats was for the day, since the final day of the season was a double-header. I shudder when I see all those images loading as well, so I opted out. -------------------- quote: Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

Brilliant baseball player, wore the number 9, batted .406 in a season. Also a sports fisherman, inducted into both Fishing and Baseball Halls of Fame. His batting average in his .406 season was .3996 prior to the last game. His manager let him make the call on playing, but he insisted, went 6 for 8 in the game, and the batting average rose to the current record. His jersey number, 9, was the first one retired by the Red Sox, and is the decimal equivalent to 1001. *this message brought to you by the standells* -------------------- quote: Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

quote:What a place to spend a thousand. Your graph was not showing posts written per day/week/month, it was showing cumulative score. As such, the trend is always upwards. It would be infinitely (really) more informative if one could see the daily post count trend within a range of dates. That would likely show increases immediately before and during a new release, decreases until the Windows version comes out, a small increase, and then another increase in the summer when Ben gets out of school. Also, this was my thousandth post. I'm so proud I could spit. *this message sponsored by englund marine* -------------------- quote: Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

I was at Lake Placid in 1980. I saw the US Men's hockey team play Czechoslovakia. It was the best live sporting event I've ever attended at any level. Since then, the Olympics have gone bad. The politics became important, first in LA and then in Moscow. I just stopped caring because too many people were really intent on the USA medal counts. That said, I've enjoyed watching curling. No [bad infinitive] clue what it all means, except it looks pretty tough. Also the snow boarding is neat, and the mogul/jump skiing. Too bad they do have to spoil it with medals. Some of that stuff is just insane. Question of course for Australians/Finns/English/etc, what kind of coverage of Olympics happens in your neck of the woods? No worries Ash. Top three news topics on any given night in America. 1. We are better than the other countries because... 2. Other states our worse off (or worse) than ours because... 3. We put up with this disaster like troopers while this other place cried because... Man I miss Clinton. That guy had class and a bag the size of New Jersey. It depends on how you define the verb "to be"? Yeeee Haw! -------------------- quote: Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

Why is it so important that the American gal lost the gold?? Aren't the Canadians equally, or even moreso, battered because they lost a competitor and ended with bronze? The Olympics should be about competition amongst athletes, each striving to prove that they are of the dominant nationality. Instead I see NBC cheerleading a scripted programming event which caters to the viewers nationalistic pride. Gooooooo fattest nation on the planet!!!!! Yay us. It's not that I don't expect a little journalistic slant, but there was no joy expressed for the error free race by the swiss miss. I so wish I got CBC. Edit- Took out 5 swear words and sexual references that were missed by the boards. And added an "h" [ Friday, February 17, 2006 22:12: Message edited by: Jumpin' Salmon ] -------------------- quote: Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

Given that God put all sorts of bones in the earth to mimic an evolutionary process he's not a big fan of bones. Or thinks humans are gullible fools. Or is against cremation. Or is too smart to get in the middle of the whole creation thing himself, so it was outsourced and the garbage we got came from actual evolution and it was only when God signed the purchase order that the whole thing started up. I like bananas. :P -------------------- quote: Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |
