Confusion? Ummmm... How so?
The prank wasn't exactly a big thing, peoples, and as for the tone set by those who answered- Its kind of interesting that the only people that posted any real opinion were the "less reputable" members of the boards.

well besides

—Alorael, who sees no reason for the topic to live. Welcoming the fictitious and banned is too depressing.
As for the ISP# I was simplictic enough to believe that the offense was minor enough to be overlooked, though I knew I would be immediatly identifiable by mods and Drakefyre

Exile III ending - need help with it in The Exile Trilogy

Hello this is an excerpt from somebody's walkthrough, I'd tell you who but I don't know.

quote:
The final challenge in Exile 3 is indeed a challenging one. This place is full of Vahnati, large and small. You'll have to fight your way through hordes and hordes of them, not to mention other tough monsters such as liches. There are four stairways you have to find, each with two or three buttons you have to press in the correct order. There is a stairway near every corner. The stairway near the 'Energy Flood Pool Thing' is behind a portcullis. The button to open it is in a room to the South. The Southeast one is behind a secret passage, in a lab. The barriears can be walked through. DON'T DISPELL THEM! You'll release Quickfire. This place has three buttons and they're all hidden. Now it's time for the final fight. This thing is extremely hard. Go into the center, past a lot of Vahnati Guards, and Rentar-Ihrno herself (She's invincible!) and get to the control panel. Rentar will teleport you away, but it will drain her. Go back again. If you've got Erika's amulets, you win. Otherwise, you don't. The way to go here is the spell protection, or Avatar. When you finally win, just sit back and watch the credits
Basically there are four energy pylons under the fort. that need to be turned on. -Like it says in the reading crystals. After you do this you fight your way to the control panel near rentar twice, erika appears, distracts rentar, and you can start a highly explosive process- Then you win.

I think that it may be possible to win w/o the amulet as well but I really don't know.

hey I had the same problem recently. It is totally solveable. The stone in your special items is the stone that lets you get into the school. The opening stone is a stone that is in your normal inventory. Hope that this helps.

Edit-welcome to the boards-have fun, don't spam(too much), and "leave your sanity at the door" for the cliche welcome.

Hello,
I guess I owe a couple apologies to everyone I invlolved in my little exscapade two days ago. My foolishness overreaches me in obvious ways some times- So FBM, Rosy, and anybody else that I may have offended, not to mention Drakefire, my sincere apologies for the LF incident. And now good night.

Yes but this only works if you join all 4 factions w/o cheating in the order Takers, Barzites, Awakened, Loyalist. With Takers the first not the last.(Wonderful, more lameness)

Hey! Are you trying to get canned too? Maybe like to beat the current record. I call this minor flooding! But in previous topics you were all milk and honey to Archmagi Micael- what changes?

Edit: Aww shucks, it sure seems that I have to edit most my posts. Stupid type-os

Looks interesting/promising- But is it just loads of random fighting? Kind of looks that way from some of the pics. Oh well guess I'll have to wait for the Lyceum to rate it.

For ben just read through the recent general posts as something 4808 or something like that, he seems to have been fairly active recently and for Rowen? I'd like an answer to that question too. Seems like a fairly respectable guy  -

Thank you for the defense of the Kitties and Sliths. I feel distinctly offended at the commander in Fort Duvno A2 when he insults sliths to your face. Umm- "good demons" isn't that slightly oxymoronic? There seem to be demons that just don't care but as for good it seems difficult. Would they be angelic beings? Seeing as demons/angels tend to be the flipsides of the coin of good and evil that would make sense... but it just doesn't seem to be in the spiritual order of Ermarian. But then again there's always room for something new. :)

Another thing to consider is that the difficulty does have an effect on the damage that you do. So if your on torment you probably will hit lower and less often. However the mage will always do a lot more damage per turn because of the damage cap on fighters. Even if you cheat your fighter into godmode he will never do more than about 100 damage per hit if I remember correctly. But the post about twohanded weapons is totally correct. If you still want it to be flaming I believe that the efreet on the opposite side of the river from Erika's Tower will make any non-magical weapon a flaming one. -OOPS sorry I was thinking of just A2 so if your not playing that--- A3 does have a place but I can't remember where.

Magic and Progress in Blades of Avernum

One problem for the use of magic in Ermarian is the widespread destruction being wreaked on the magical centers of Avernum/Exile and then to some extent the empire. With the tower of magi destroyed it would be a huge oportunity to claim that magic was the cause of all the problems while at the same time there is no centralized location for the study of magic. Though Patrick's tower might work for Avernum/Exile and I'm sure that there are other places of study for the empire than the school in VoDT, magical centers tend to be the centers for misuse of magic as well, and get destroyed or shut down fairly often.

As to the gun/technology vs. wands/magic the skill is in making the gun or wand a lot more than in shooting it. It seems that if wands could have a lot more spells stored in them they could easily become gunlike.

The Politics of it would be confused by the immigration of Avernites once they got their portal fixed, but it is possible that they would not put pressure on the Empire government to loosen up controls on magic. Is the new Avernite population under the control of the Empire or is it an independent entity

YEA Powers back! Stupid Hurricane. Anyways it seems that even giants wouldn't be stupid enough to carry larger sacks of money and silver with them on long raiding trips. And then monsters on suicide missions having money on them is rather ridiculous as well. No matter how illogical the constant flow of income really allows the game to progress. Try going through a game using no money. It makes it much more difficult-(actually impossible due to lack of training)

But I sided with the Awakened out of my robotic instincts that forgiveness is preferable to revenge and violence is just wrong.

That kinda mirrors my opinion as well if only the shapers would respond to the Awakened doctrine. The obeyers also have their ending going for them where they end up being more respected serviles- So the shapers kind of give them a little of what the Awakened wanted.

The singleton is always fun to use as you usually get the best of the magic and the norm. combat. Experience always acrues quicker which can make up for the lack in total potential power. In Avernum though the singleton sometimes lacks the luster that I alway found it to have in Exile. Oh well. As for the Anama I tend to dislike this especially with the singleton party since you can't really use that loophole with just one person.

The armies here never do end so in a way its unlimited experience, (at least until the monsters stop giving you experience). I can't remember if L50 is the top though in A3. Anyways the armies stay there unconquerable but I believe that it is possible to get behind Blackcrag using the editor to place you outside the town which puts you on top of the castle alowing you to go back behind it. About grammar and spelling, it is not that hard to just type it close to right in the first place, but it really does not matter too much though I do agree with the above about it really being well liked. Whatever loosens your locks. By the way welcome to the SW boards. The standard advice is to leave sanity at the door, but hey, be whatever you want.
